If you're looking for a fishing charter from Port Caneral, look no further. Captain Nate (Checkmate Charter) will give you one of the best days of fishing ever! He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and fun to be around! I am an inexperienced fisherman, but I felt like I was with family and friends I had known for years! He knew exactly where to go, depth to find them, what to bait etc., based on what you were fishing for. I know that is what a good captain is supposed to do, however, what our boat hauled in outfished others that were out there that day! We had to release several (due to limits) He is professional, with gentle release, type or size limits etc. I learned a lot that day!

We had a great time with Checkmate. He worked hard to put us on some fish. It is fishing not catching. We managed a small shark and several crappie, whiting and catfish. Grandsons had a great time. Thanks Nate!
Beautiful day , nice boat I've been trying to book a trip off shore to catch big fish for 3 years but when I come to Florida it never happens. We should've rescheduled for another day wind was kinda high. We didn't catch any fish to eat was disappointed about that, but the kids had a good time .

Hey Carlos, don't give up! As much as I would like to catch big ones on every trip that is just part of the Fishing experience. Unfortunately, for us, we had strong winds and rough seas and were unable to do the trip you had scheduled. I gave the alternative option of Fishing inside of the Port where it would be much calmer as we were not gonna be able to get on the ocean, but I did mention that they are generally smaller fish if we could get on any kind of a bite at all. It was definitely slow fishing, but that's part of the game. Unfortunately. I'm glad the kids had a good time and i hope you can see it to try again it does get much better fishing than what we had
Booked a full day. After Captain Nate brought us in with a super nice haul, I truly believe every single one of his 5 star reviews are well earned. This guy is on point and operates as smoothly and deliberately as anyone who has mastered their craft. Super grateful for getting on some nice fish and more importantly the awesome memories. Will book again!
We had a great experience with CheckMate charter fishing. Captain Nate has an amazing boat and kept us on the fish. over the radio we could hear that the other boats on the water weren't finding fish. Our charter was catching fish on every spot Captain Nate put us on. he quickly found the target species and we were able to limit out. On our return to Port Nate spotted a manta ray, by the time I heard him say something the boat was throttled down, he had a jig rigged up, cast, and was hooking a cobia first cast. was unbelievably impressive and a great cap to the trip.
Absolutely amazing experience! Not only did Nate constantly put us on the fish, coach us through the catch, and celebrate with us, he showed his professionalism which is second to none. If you are interested in fishing, or just a great experience on the water, I highly encourage you to give Checkmate a call. Definitely will be taking advantage of this charter again in the future!
3 days of fishing with Checkmate and Captain Nate Brady. We did a full day, 4-hour shark and 3/4 day in that order, and Nate put us on fish everyday--plenty of fish. Day 1 was on the reefs, and we caught a nice fish box full of lane snapper, with a couple mangrove snapper and trigger fish; we released quite a few red snapper, and the grunts kept the action moving. Nothing huge, but the snapper was perfect for fish tacos! The shark trip had 10 sharks to the boat, with black nose and black tips taking the bite; a nice in-shore day. Day 3 was a mixed bag on different structure, with a couple big fish--an 8' lemon shark for one--released, and fish in the box. Nate works hard to make sure you're on fish and have a good time on the water. Checkmate is comfortable and a stable fishing platform. Great trip and highly recommended if you want to fish from Port Canaveral!
Had a really windy tough day. He got my son his first shark. Worked hard and was a really nice guy. We went with another business last year and had a lot of bites but the line would break after fighting them for 3 seconds. I felt like he just didn’t want to deal with the shark. I will definitely be calling captain Nate next year for an offshore trip
This is without a doubt THE best charter in The Cape Canaveral area. Capt Brady IS THE BEST (and so was his first mate Ron). Two in our party were newbies and one was very experienced. Before we booked, we had many questions for Captain Brady, and he answered them all professionally and with patience. He went out of his way to accommodate us. We had a great day and caught the limit all due to his experience and knowledge. Aside from being good at his job, he was also very fun to be with on the trip as was his first mate! Don’t waste your money with anyone else… This is the charter to go with!
