Worked with Family First Firm on a probate case for my Father's estate. The estate was fairly simple and after the attorney working our case left the firm (we only spoke with her once for 30 minutes total) the new attorney never called. Despite this, the paralegal completed the probate and then upon discovering that there were issued related to the taxes owed on the estate, I asked them to handle the matter and guess what? Suddenly it's an entirely new case and they need to charge even more for the new service. We were never advised by any of the attorneys' who worked on the case about any timeline, risks, complications that arise with the creation of an estate. What is the point of an expert who doesn't offer any expertise? I want to reiterate that this firm billed 0 hours of actual attorney time to advising us, the client, and upon being advised we needed additional help, suddenly we are a new client being charged an outrageous additional fee to correct a mistake which could have been caught by having a lawyer, you know, work on the case. Edit: as of 10/29/2025 Family Firm reached back out to me after I made these issues known to them and immediately took full responsibility and started working to correct the issues I detailed in the review above. They have been communicative, helpful, and attentive and I sincerely believe my first experience was not representative of their practice. Though the process is not yet complete, the delay is not a result of any lack of effort of the firm. As such I am adjusting my review to 4 stars. I will leave up my original complaints to inform this addendum. It's not how you start, it's how you finish.
