I had the best experience adopting my puppy. Helen really took the time to coach, give tips, and ask the right questions to best know my needs. She was quick yet thorough; setting aside time for just me. Every inch of the process was well thought out and explained.
The dogs were well taken care of and in a clean environment. The employees appeared to very much care for each and every animal and the right placement.
I immediately fell inlove with my pupp at first sight and we both left with a big cheesy grin.

Finally posting my review after purchasing our puppy in December 2024. We purchased a soft coated wheaten terrier back in December. Less than 24 hours later, we were at the vet. The night we brought him home, he started with a horrible cough. He was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and we were sent home with antibiotics. long story short, it took 3 months to clear his cough. He also had two parasites that we had difficulty clearing up. We spent a fortune at the vet between all the medications and bloodwork. The ONLY reason I am giving two stars is because Sportsman’s did pay us back around $700 for vet bills. We had an “unfit for purchase” letter provided to us by our vet and the lemon law protected us. But honestly, no amount of money will be enough to make up for the pain and fear all of us faced. Our puppy was so sick and we were so scared he wasn’t going to make it. He was up all night every night coughing, gagging, runny nose and coughing up phlegm. Our vet also does not think he is purebred - we’ll be getting DNA testing done. If he is not purebred as he was sold to us (for absolute top dollar) this review will change, and not for the better.
Our puppy is now 8 months old and a happy boy - all thanks to our incredible vet and the countless sleepless nights that my fiancé and I gave this dog. we wouldn’t trade him for the world.
After asking around, we learned everything that we wish we would’ve known about this place. Their poor reputation goes well beyond the online reviews, and I learned that our devastating situation was not an isolated incident with Sportsman’s Kennels.
I would NEVER get a dog here ever again. In fact, because of the shocking unprofessionalism and downright nastiness, I wouldn’t buy so much as a treat here. I would NEVER recommend ANYONE gets a dog here. The staff/owner/whoever she is knows exactly what type of operation she is running here - regardless of what the internet may tell you. I leave reviews NOWHERE, this is actually very far outside my comfort zone, but something needed to be said. DO NOT GET A PUPPY FROM THIS BUSINESS!
I had the pleasure of going to Sportsman Kennels ,and getting Helen who was great ,and gave us all the information we needed for our new Welsh Corgi ,which is a loving great dog, the whole staff was great, and the kennel was spotless, and very good ,and Healthy dogs ,I recommend Sportsman Kennels highly.
Terri Theisen, thanks for recommending our business. We strive to be the best dog breeder in Manorville and we're happy you chose us!

3/11/25 Update: Helen contacted me about my review. She said she'd "see what she could do for me" Friday will be 3 weeks...still no call back from her.
We purchased a 4 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy back on November 1, 2024. We were told that he was a purebred Cavalier & his paperwork also said that he was...we had an Embark DNA test on him & it turns out that he is not 100% Cavalier...he is only 94% Cavalier & 6% Cocker Spaniel! I'm not happy about this considering that we paid $3200 for what we thought was a purebred Cavalier! I should have known better when I saw that he was ACA registered, not AKC. ACA is basically a front for puppy mill breeders that cannot get their puppies registered with the AKC due to shady practices. I've owned & bred several Cavaliers over the past 20 years & ACA is not considered reputable among most breeders.
That was only the 1st issue - he also came with Kennel Cough, Giardia & Coccidia. The cough has been treated & resolved but the parasites, after several rounds of antibiotics are still not resolved yet! Again, not a huge deal but we've now paid out almost $400 in exams, fecal testing & medications & it's still an ongoing issue!
But there's more...he had a scar on his stomach when we bought him. We were told that he had an umbilical hernia that was already removed. Once again, not a huge deal or so we thought...
We were also told when we purchased him that he was Criptorchid, meaning his testicles still had not descended. He had a health certificate that said no significant findings other than being Criptorchid. Okay. Again, not a big deal to me especially since I work in a vet's office & knew that it could easily be taken care of when he went in for his neuter.
Well, today he was scheduled to be neutered. After they put him under anesthesia, cut him open & searched all over there were no testicles to be found! Apparently, according to my vet, that scar on his belly was not just from having an umbilical hernia removed but he had also already apparently been neutered! I purchased him at 4 months old so they must have done that surgery on him very young! So now my poor puppy was cut open once again when he did not need to be andddd it cost me $600 since the vet still technically performed surgery on him. So now on top of the $3200 I paid for a "purebred" dog & the $400+ for parasites, I'm also out $600 for a surgery he didn't even need!!!
How could Sportsman's Kennels not have known that this puppy was already neutered?! That should have been listed somewhere on his paperwork from the breeder. Somebody, either the breeder or the Kennel isn't keeping accurate records on their dogs! Regardless, I will never purchase another dog from them again! I work in a vet's office & have also been a groomer for over 20 years so I will be sure that none of my clients purchase from them either. I will also be contacting my lawyer this week because I'm pretty sure it's illegal falsify paperwork selling dogs as purebred that are NOT purebred! DO NOT PURCHASE A PUPPY FROM SPORTSMAN'S KENNELS!!!
We purchased our husky back in 2018 we wanted a golden retriever we purchased our red golden retriever in 2024 we had excellent experience with both purchases definitely would recommend sportsman kennel

This place is awesome. Helen, the owner is so lovely and helpful. She loves her Animals and let's us spend as long as we need to make sure we pick the correct dog. The dogs are all lovely and behaved. The process of picking the dog and learning about them was very positive. She has a great variety of dogs and she is actually the only place in NY that is open to the Public as a dog breeder. Thank you Helen.

I go back to 2006 when I picked up my puppy Rottweiler Jazmin, I moved her with me to Florida and had a wonderful 10 years with her, never a problem until mouth cancer moved in. I was so thrilled with this specimen of a dog , I flew back to NY and picked up Shelby, another beautiful female Rotty. So, in a nutshell, I will get my third from this breeder, Thank you for giving me the best joy of my life.

Unfortunately, I have to leave a bad review, and I don't often leave reviews. We purchased a Lab here that we adore and purchased from Sportsman Kennel in August. I was advised that he was cured of his parasites, given all his shots, and should not be around other pets due to the new virus. They told us he was set until April. I want to preface before going into detail that my dog was not near ANY other dogs, EVER. Since we got him, we noticed he had a sensitive stomach; he was vomiting and having diarrhea off and on. I spoke to a vet over the phone, and they told us that if he was acting normal, it was likely something he ate, and labs have sensitive stomachs, and we could always bring him to a vet nearby. Fast forward, he started having bloody stool and excessive drooling. I ran him to the emergency vet, where they told us the shots were not done properly. They all need to be redone, and all the ones that they did were done in the span of a few days and should have been done throughout the course he was with them. He was born in January, and all the shots were stopped in early April. The schedule the vet provided me showed these were done weirdly. They told me this was normal for places like this, that he was their dog, and that they could do as they wanted. I can deal with redoing shots. What upsets me the most is he is full of parasites. The ones listed he never got rid of, like claimed, and there was another one that was never even listed. The vet told me this is something that has been ongoing for months and he never got rid of it when they said they did. My dog has been in pain, and is sick due to their negligence. We just tried to follow directions due to the new disease they tell you about and beg you not to bring the dogs around other dogs. So as much as we paid a video call to speak to a vet in the beginning. We did that and look where that got us. While I thought the staff was nice. I would not recommend this place, and if you have already purchased a puppy, please go get them checked out. This could be dangerous for them, yourselves, and any other animal in the house.
Absolutely amazing! The staff is so wonderful and helpful and they guided us in choosing the right puppy for our family. We decided on a wheaten terrier and he is the calmest, sweetest dog ever. The facility is very clean and well taken care of, and they allowed us to come visit and play with our puppy as much as we wanted before he was ready to come home so we could bond with him. They also have an on-site vet and each dog goes home up-to-date on all their vaccines. I am beyond happy to have chosen Sportsman Kennels to give us our new family member. Highly recommend!!!

We went today and my son picked out his dog Blue .The owner explained everything and the staff manager BRIAN was fantastic helping us along with another gentleman who was cleaning and caring for the dogs. It’s a nice place to get a new dog or addition. My sister had gotten her dog here and my dog years before I went here . It’s a beautiful place and the dogs are all calm and friendly. I love the owner because she’s experienced and takes time for you. This is one of the best places to get a dog. You go in and the dogs are all well trained and the people who help were fantastic. Dog 3 is definitely where I am going. They are worth the trip and they are excellent customer service. They deserve awards! Pics will come we just got blue today! Great place and great service! Thank you Brian for the call and follow up on our new dog blue!
