Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am glad to hear that the travel experience was a positive one overall, as I know that EduTravel made some special accommodations for your participation in the program. We like to ensure that all students have an opportunity to participate in experiential learning when possible and are thrilled to have had you along.

Please know that the teachers on the programs who oversee the course instruction are hired by our school board partners and are the ones who assess any course work. These are the same teachers that teach in day school and assure the academic integrity of our programs.

I am sorry that you felt "some work was marked without much review”, but all assessments would have been returned with a detailed rubric that would also have been provided in advance. The rubric helps to explain how a mark is derived and is accompanied by descriptive feedback. Often, as long as time allows, students are given an opportunity to apply the feedback and resubmit the assessment as evidence of their learning.

We cannot speak to the efforts and marks of other students in your program, but the grades provided are objective and calculated based on the curriculum’s expectations, which is why assessments are accompanied by a detailed rubric. We always do our best to set students up for success by allowing students a variety of ways to display their knowledge and skills, providing additional support with Teaching Assistants and providing the opportunity for students to resubmit assessments. That being said, this must be done in a timely manner to allow an opportunity for discussion, reflection, and growth. Unfortunately, 10 months after the program’s completion date is not timely.

Please know that the person you are referencing is an experienced teacher and has been on several of our trips with very positive feedback from both her peers and other students. While we know the staff can be very excited and passionate about the destinations themselves, this should never overshadow their primary focus which is our students. We are sorry that your student did not feel supported by this one individual but we are glad that your child got the attention they needed from the other staff members and that the overall experience was very positive.
