This tour is was much more than expected. Fantastically entertaining Actors/singers/comedians Hazel and Paul took my 87 year old mom, born and raised in Edinburgh, places she’d never been. The stories were engaging. I certainly learned a great deal that I didn’t know about about some of the famous writers of Scotland. It was a true treat. Thanks again to Hazel and Paul for making us laugh along the way.

If you want to learn more about Edinburgh, it's streets, buildings, writers & history, join this tour. Mike & McBrain ( I forget the talented actress's name) were excellent hosts & entertainers & knew their history. Great evening indeed finished up by a gorgeous sunset making the Edinburgh old buildings even more yellow & warm in colour. We learnt lots about writers & poets of Scotland over a pint!

The three of us really enjoyed this tour. Even being Scottish found it to be interesting and funny with the two guides acting out their roles with energy and professionalism. Would definitely recommend.

Hazel and Paul were a surprising edutaining evening. Their banter flowed be it Burns or Scott and bring decades of experience between them. A lovely evening on a “typical” Scottish “summer” evening. It was easy to find and the walk was easy as it was broken into 3 separate sections.

super fun and entertaining evening
the three of us had a wonderful time, the tour was very entertaining and informative. paul and riley were both fantastic and played their characters very well. none of us drank, but we still had a great time- the tour was not as bar heavy as we had thought but this proved to be a good thing since the tour focused more on the literature and the fantastic performances by paul and riley. we learned a lot and had a great time!

If you are a reader, or have in interest in Scotland's literary history, you will enjoy this tour. The actor/guides bring Scott, Burns, and Stevenson to life with humor and passion for their craft and subjects. The pub visits are fairly ancillary to the literature, and I thought that was great. I also loved how the tour closed with a self-deprecating acknowledgment of the great female writers who have been traditionally elided from Scottish literary history.

Charming Literary Tour
We went on the tour in June 2024. Hazel and Dougal were our guides/performers and their passion for the material was very evident. The tour was well organized and covered a variety of famous and lesser known Scottish literary figures. Overall, it was a great opportunity to learn about some Scottish authors/poets, have a few pints, and see a little of Edinburgh!

Worthwhile and delightful experience!!! Great duo of comedians, and quite talented. They were genuinely kind, considerate and very patient as our group was quite big and individual attention was a challenge in regards to questions and wanderers. Thank you! If you’re considering it - do it!! Plus they take you to little off road paths that you’d never have found as a tourist.

Poetry with a pint
Wow. This is what you want when you come to Edinburgh; you want two talented entertainers to recite poetry to you in broad Scots with a pint in your hand. 10/10. If you're looking for a reason to book this tour, this is it. It's the antidote to the treacly, saccharine touristy stuff you find up and down the Royal Mile.

Had a wonderful evening hearing about the Scottish literary world and all its influence and of course debauchery. The stars of the show we fantastic and the evening flows at a pace of the group and is very friendly and inclusive. If your looking for an evening with a bit of difference, this is genuinely fantastic and lots of giggles included! Selection of pubs was also great and a lovely way to see a different side of the city. Thanks to hazel and Dugal (probably not spelt correctly) for such a delightful evening!!

A good night out
Riley and Dougal were great guides. They were very informative but also entertaining. There were plenty of opportunities to get a drink while on the walk and bathroom breaks. It made me want to read more Scottish authors.
