Ladies and Gentelmen, it’s time to get off the sunbeds and come away for the bar. It’s time to call Davide and have the most amazing authentic Sardinian experience. That’s what me, my husband and 2 girls did. Divide brought us deep into the mountains to leinora’s house. Leinora and her friend Kia showed us how real Sardinians live. We cooked pasta, beef, salads and tasted local Sardinian wine. The ladies were amazing, simply fantastic people and as for Davide! A super cool guy. So relaxed, it was like hanging out with a friend for a day. He told us all we needed to know about the area. He had all the facts because his grandmother and grandfather were from there. You won’t get better than this folks. It’s a MUST DO. When I return Davide will be my 1st port of call. I wish him all the best in the future.

Sardinia Trip Review: 9 Unforgettable Nights
We just returned from 9 fabulous nights in Sardinia. The sea, landscapes, friendly people, and excellent tours led by Davide Fancellu—a native Sardinian and owner/operator of DRAN Experience—made our trip truly memorable.
Before arriving, we only knew that Sardinia is beautiful, and Costa Smeralda is amazing — both were true. But we discovered so much more beyond these popular spots.
Alghero and Hotel Dei Pini
We started our journey in Alghero, staying three nights at Hotel Dei Pini, a beachfront property just a short taxi ride from the Old Town. A half-day guided tour of Alghero’s Old Town with Davide was informative and fun, ending with a fantastic lunch.
Recommendation: The Old Town tour with Davide is highly recommended for anyone interested in local history and culture.
The next day, we enjoyed a boat dinghy ride exploring the scenic coastal caves. The water here rivals the Caribbean blue hues of Turks & Caicos—crystal clear and breathtaking.
Cooking Class in Montresta
Next, we traveled to Montresta, where Leonarda welcomed us warmly into her family home for a cooking class. Experiencing everyday village life and cooking alongside locals was an authentic and eye-opening cultural immersion.
Recommendation: Don’t miss this cooking class if you want a true taste of Sardinian village life and cuisine.
Adventure and Relaxation in Su Gogolone
We spent two nights at a beautiful mountain property in Su Gogolone. Hiking and biking challenges of all levels are available right outside the door, blending adventure with relaxation.
One day included a boat trip to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. While high season brings as many as 100 boats, visiting at the end of the season gave us peaceful open spaces. The impressive elevation changes and vivid watercolors were awe-inspiring.
Shepherd’s Lunch Stop
On our way to Costa Smeralda, we stopped for a traditional Shepherd’s Lunch. Witnessing how a local family lives off the land and preserves generational traditions was heartwarming. We watched fresh ricotta being made and tasted local cheeses and honey.
Recommendation: This stop offers a unique cultural and culinary experience, perfect for travelers seeking off-the-beaten-path moments.
Costa Smeralda and Hotel Romazzino
Our final stay was at the elegant Hotel Romazzino in Costa Smeralda. The friendly, helpful staff made the experience enjoyable. While the hotel is preparing for renovation—scheduled to complete its first phase in Spring 2026—our room was already very comfortable. We look forward to seeing the upgrades.
Even after so many beautiful sights, Costa Smeralda impressed us with its breathtaking vistas.
Recommendation: It is easy to simply sit and enjoy the beauty of the vistas and amenities of the property. Spend a day on the water or visit Porto Cervo and enjoy the shopping and people watching.
Sardinia has so much to offer and definitely a location I leave thinking “until next time” and not “good bye”.

We had such a wonderful experience learning to make pasta with the amazing Leonarda. This truly is a totally unique experience unlike anything you would get in a more formal cookery school. Being welcomed into Leonarda's home and seeing how she cooks for her family and her community was fantastic. We were made so welcome and learned so much. We will definitely carry on making our own pasta and even trying some of the more difficult varieties. The lunch was fantastic and her kindness was really touching. My husband was very impressed with the gifts of the pasta, cake and lemons that Leonarda sent back with us. Davide is a wonderful guide. So knowledgeable and passionate about both the food, the region and the village. He is also great company during the whole day. If you want to experience something totally unique and special then this is the cookery class for you. Altogether a wonderful and memorable experience for us both.

Davide is flexible and made another suggestion. He showed us some really stunning beaches and landscapes. And we even made snorkeling once at a very quiet beach, which Davide said he used to make Barbecue with his friends when he was teenagers. I am very curious about the local culture and Davide explained me patiently everything. The light lunch was great with local cheese and sausage and with the bread baked by his mother. My son had great fun on the beach to play with the wave. It was a great day and definitely worth to recommend.

Abbiamo organizzato un tour di trekking e snorkeling con loro, purtroppo il tempo non ha permesso di fare snorkeling ma Davide ha organizzato un tour mostrandoci varie spiagge e calette meno conosciute e davvero bellissime. E’ stata una giornata stupenda e Davide è stato fantastico per l’organizzazione e per tutte le spiegazione. E’ una guida molto esperta. Ottimo anche il pic-nic con prodotti locali che abbiamo mangiato in una spiaggia stupenda. Consigliato a tutti, voto alla giornata 10+++

We organized a trekking and snorkeling tour with them, unfortunately the weather did not allow snorkeling but David organized a tour showing us various beaches and coves less known and really beautiful. It was a wonderful day and Davide was fantastic for the organization and for all the explanations. He is a very experienced guide. Also great picnic with local products that we ate in a beautiful beach. Recommended for everyone, vote on day 10+++
