We brought our 10 month old Newfoundland to Christian K9 Academy after struggling to train her ourselves at home. We were having problems with listening, playing too rough with the children and smaller dogs, and generally becoming uncontrollable when excited. At around 100lbs and still growing, it was becoming a big concern, especially with our 3 year old and other small children that would visit and want to play outside. We opted for the 2 week board and train program and worked with Dean. He was fantastic with the dog, providing us updates, pictures, and videos, and addressing our concerns. When we picked Maple up she was a new dog. Able to walk on leash and take commands, able to walk off leash and take commands, and her excitement could be controlled around children and adults. The chasing, knocking down our excited toddler, and taking his toys is no longer an issue. She understands and responds to common commands (come, heel, sit, stay, down, place) and is wonderful to walk on and off leash now. Additionally, we’re not dog trainers, we’ve owned multiple dogs and know how to teach them for the most part, but Maple is by far the largest dog we’ve owned and the lack of control was more of a problem than past dogs. I say this to highlight how great Dean was during the pick up process and the continued support. He spent multiple hours with us, teaching us how to reinforce the training Maple had received, how to adjust for issues, and how to continue training at home to squash issues and teach new behaviors. Once home we’ve continued to be in communication with Dean about how she’s doing and addressing issues. We were running out of ideas and patience when we decided on the board and train program, and we’re so thankful for the results. We have a new dog, the kids can safely and confidently play in the backyard without fear of being chased and/or knocked down, and we can go on family walks around the farm again without worries or constantly needing to yell and correct the dog or rescue the children from her out of control behavior. I sent my dog Callan to their board-and-train program (along with my ex’s dog a year later), and both of them went in acting like absolute little menaces. I’m talking zero manners, full chaos, and vibes of “I run this house.” They came back completely transformed — calmer, more confident, and actually listening like real civilized citizens. Mitch and Dean were amazing the entire way through. They kept in constant contact, sent updates, and made the whole process feel easy and reassuring. I inherited my father's Belgian malinois. Whilst my father raised him from a pup with love. He did not have any sort of obedience at all. All 80 lb of piss and vinegar ready to walk you wherever he wants. He did not listen for his name or any calls whatsoever. This was before his training with Christian K9. Now? He is a complete gentleman. My wife can walk him with her fingers. And he does not pull. He does not fight. And he listens extremely well to calls and commands. This is all I wanted. I wanted to give this dog his best chance at life. For he is the last bit of my father I have. For their service, I thank them.

Not only was there an immense positive change in her behaviors and training upon pick up - but Dean and all the Christian K9 staff have invested in her and my own continuous learning at the monthly maintenance classes. As such, her behaviors and training have continued to positively grow even after her completing training, and my confidence and knowledge as her owner has also grown. Furthermore, I love that regular boarding is offered following a dogs completion of the board and train program. The peace of mind of Nala being only around highly trained dogs and being supervised by trainers who know her well while she is boarding is unmatched. After multiple training sessions with little to no improvement in our dog’s behavior, we knew we needed something more for our two-year-old Redbone Coonhound–Mountain Cur mix. After three weeks of training with Dean, we can honestly say our lives have changed. During the first week, Dean taught us how to properly use a prong collar, and for the first time, walks were manageable with no more leash pulling. In week two, we added treat-based training—even with a dog who was never food-motivated—and continued to see more progress. By week three, we moved to an e-collar and were able to walk through the park without a single issue; off leash! Dean and ChristianK9 truly transformed our relationship with our dog. Walks are enjoyable, having him around is easy, and he has become the fabulous companion we always hoped for. We are beyond grateful and highly recommend Dean and Christian K9 for anyone struggling with their dog’s behavior.

Mitch, Riley, Dean and Susanna are incredible. My very strong willed, and very large German Shepherd had a medical issue (nothing to do with the training, something that he has had an issue with in the past) while participating in the board and train program and Riley went above and beyond to make sure he received proper medical care. He even met me at my vet to get my dog checked out! I was also kept well informed on all the lessons and received videos and text messages. My gigantic hot mess of a German Shepherd came back a very well-behaved boy – a completely different dog! Highly highly recommend them.

If you're looking for dog training in Columbus, Ohio, look no further. 7-year-old German Shepherd who had never been trained came back absolutely elite. We solved reactivity issues. She walks perfect on a leash. She's just a very well-rounded dog. Christian canine focuses on the individual dog and builds a program based on the owners vision for the dog. I worked with Riley who is awesome and kept me updated nearly every day on my dog's progress. This program is worth every penny.

10/10 recommend Mitch! Our dog has been pulling on the leash for 4 years and we couldn’t get it corrected. Within 20 minutes of a training session with Mitch he had Apex walking perfectly. Cannot recommend them enough.

We have a 7 month old Lab that has gone through both puppy training and off leash training. Dean was her trainer and did an amazing job. Over the years my wife and I have had a number of Labs, all great dogs but I never had one as well trained as our current Lab. We have also had to board Maddie, our Lab with them and are extremely comfortable and pleased with this service as well. In short, Mitch, Dean, Riley, along with all the help are a top notch group of dog trainers and handlers.

Overall they are very nice and did a good job. The only thing I was disappointed with is I was unaware that they relied so heavily on prong collars and e-collars. They are great just be aware. I rated them at 3/5 though because they wouldn’t stop messaging me about doing a google review. Update: Dean was so pleasant and reached out to me after my initial review to reassure me he heard what I said and he apologized for asking me to do the google review so many times which I greatly appreciated.
