I went on Google and looked up a great place to get the surgery and I’m glad Google directed me to this place , the staff is very friendly and my doctor ( Dr.Godwin) was such a nice fellow who reassured me of all my questions and worries. I went in there weighing 264 lbs and in just 4 months I weigh 178lbs! I feel great! Best decision I ever made in my life. UPDATE: a little over 18 months post op, after losing half of myself (and feeling great), I was looking into cosmetic options to address some loose skin. Dr Buchin has to be the Best bariatric surgeon out there. I had two umbilical hernia surgeries in the same location prior to seeing Dr Buchin including one surgery in NY presbyterian hospital that was botched. I went to see Dr Buchin in Huntington hospital, Not only did he correct the prior surgeries but he fixed my hernia for good I have returned to my normal life. He has Changed my life I am overweight & the hernia has not comeback and I work a physically demanding job I am considering a bariatric surgery that I would only do through him.

I started my journey March of 2023 with my first consultation appointment. I have struggled for a good few years now with weight loss, and I would diet & exercise, weight would go down, but would unfortunately fall off the wagon due to my work schedule, home life or personal issues such as stress & depression. It was time for a change, and let me tell you, it was the best decision of my life to get the surgery. I could not recommend any place better than Dr. Buchin & the staff at LI Obesity Surgery. The entire staff from Dr. Buchin himself, to the nutritionist, Patti, & all the nurses were very helpful & knowledgeable with your nutritional needs, that will help you succeed. My surgery date was August 2, 2023. My weight at that time was 281lbs. Today, as I write this well deserved 5 Star Review, I am now at 198lbs. That is 83lbs down from my surgery weight. Oh, yeah if you have medical insurance, they do require you to loose weight prior to the surgery, and from March to The surgery day, I lost 27lbs, so from that weight loss, plus the post-surgery weight loss, that is 110lbs total! This surgery, this tool works. You have to do the work yes, but this surgery is not at all a cheat. It is a very helpful tool to help you gain your confidence back, your energy, your youth pretty much. I have never felt happier & healthier in a long time, and that is because of the staff at LI Obesity surgery. I have a second chance of life now. I feel different but better each and every day. Had several issues with insurance until I finally got my surgery done in September 2023. Surgery went great, doctors are super professionals and I had great recovery. I lost tons of weight and keep losing. Doctor Buchin is definitely one of the best surgeons. But my experience with their post surgery care was not as good as I expected. Last post op appointment I had, I was waiting for 2 hours, which was unusual but also annoying. I wish they would tell me to come back another time since I live right around the block. It was disrespectful and I felt like there is no consideration for people who got their surgery done. I was also hungry/about to pass out and luckily had a snack on me. Later that day doctor Buchin called me to apologize, which was appreciated. I never had any problems with them before. They’re always thorough and helpful. The only thing I would suggest if I could, is that in the future please communicate with the patients if you think it might take longer than expected and if possible leave a little basket with emergency snacks for the post op patients in case that long wait happens and we’re not prepared.

I had gastric bypass 5/1/23 with Dr. Godwin, it’s been 6 months since my surgery and i’ve lost 100lbs. Before considering weight loss surgery I was weighing 302 (316 at my heaviest) pounds and I was miserable, had very little energy, was struggling with my blood pressure, cholesterol, and many more health issues. Now I’m 200lbs and I feel better not only physically but mentally. My blood pressure is now normal with no medications, PCOS is well controlled, and I never thought I’d have this confidence ever. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was a little kid and I’ve tried so many diets and workout plans and nothing seemed to help me, it would work at first then gain it all back. This surgery has taught me how to have a better relationship with food. It’s taught me portion control, and healthier choices, but not to deprive myself of the things I enjoy because I can enjoy them in moderation. I hope sharing this helps someone know that there is hope and not to give up on their journey to a healthy lifestyle. And to not be terrified of getting or considering the surgery, with the right doctor and the right mindset you will be successful in achieving your health goals.
