HIckory Dickory Decks Reviews

can't talk to anyone, i have left messages 7 days ago and there's been no response. switchboard sucks. Owner called and helped me out in the end. I do support local businesses and this was a tough rating. Just answer the phone at the shop. Switchboard asks too many irrelevant questions.

I was skeptical at first but it turned out to the be decision. Tom, Colin, and Brent were all very courteous and understanding of our financial constraints and came up with solutions that met our needs. They didn't try to push or upsell a larger project. Everything is very transparent, upfront, and honest. I will be using them again for a future rebuild of my deck.

Made a special trip to the office show room. Filled out a detailed form which told them exactly what I was looking for. Never heard from anyone. Spent my $30k with someone else.

We had our deck built in November 2025, and we can’t wait to start making full use of it this season. After getting quotes from a few companies in the spring of 2025, I felt confident choosing HDD after meeting with Jonathan. When he mentioned they could start in the last week of October, I was honestly a bit surprised—timelines like that aren’t always met, and I assumed we’d likely be waiting until spring 2026. To my surprise, Jonathan called in early October to confirm his crew would be starting the last Monday of the month—and true to his word, they did. The crew was led by Kyle, who was a pleasure to work with. He was always happy to answer questions, and it was clear he was both passionate and highly skilled at his trade. We couldn’t be happier with the final result. It’s a beautiful addition and a worthwhile investment that will add value to our home.

We had Tom, the big Boss, come to our place in October 2025, to give us a quote for a new deck. The next week we then had a very informative tour with him at the Waterdown yard. We felt quite comfortable with all of Tom’s ideas and suggestions, and also viewing actual deck setups and colours, that we decided to firm up our plans to go forward. Tom hoped to have a crew come before Christmas to install the 6 Helicor pylons needed, which they did, the week before Christmas. Four awesome workers showed up and had them done in no time. They were also very helpful (winter came and stayed too quickly to move a few things), and were so polite. They will be back in the spring to do the deck. Our contact after Tom, was Colin, and he has also been so kind and involved, keeping us updated etc. So far, our experience has been excellent, right from the start. Ken & Liz Henderson

We are looking to replace our aging and crumbling deck. Colin and the receptionist were amazing. Jonathan, from the Burlington location has already contacted me and a date has been arranged for the 1st consultation.

Workmanship is very good. I was disappointed with the communication and lack of guidance received by their coordinator (no longer working there). The build team arrived at my house without prior notice. Concerns I had about placing weed barrier down were dismissed (this turned out to be a mistake and it is now too late). I was charged extra for "hand digging" after the job was completed. Perhaps communication and coordination is much better for large projects. For small projects, I don't think they are worth the higher price they demand.

Our family had a deck built by Hickory Dickory Decks almost 30 years ago, and to this day it is still in absolutely incredible shape. It has been through all kinds of weather and even a few different homeowners over the years, yet it still looks beautiful and feels solid and safe. The quality of the workmanship has truly stood the test of time, and that says everything you need to know about the care and pride this company puts into their work. Tom is truly the best and wonderful to work with. He is honest, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about his customers. You can tell that he and his team take real pride in every project they complete. It is rare these days to find a company that delivers this level of craftsmanship and long-term value. Our family has always spoken so highly of this deck and of Hickory Dickory Decks in general. I would recommend them to absolutely anyone without hesitation. If you want a deck that will last for decades and a team that treats you with respect and care, this is the company to call. We whole heartedly could not recommend the whole team more.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Rob and Mitch from Hickory Dickory Decks to build a new pool deck, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From the very beginning, the team impressed me with their professionalism, knowledge, and commitment to quality. They took the time to listen to my vision, offered helpful design suggestions, and made sure every detail was tailored to suit my backyard space. The craftsmanship is outstanding—every board is perfectly aligned, the railings are sturdy, and the overall finish gives the deck a polished, resort-like feel. It’s clear that Hickory Dickory Decks takes great pride in their work, using high-quality materials that not only look beautiful but will also stand up to years of use and weather. What really stood out to me was their customer service. The crew was punctual, respectful of my property, and kept the worksite clean throughout the project. Communication was excellent; I always knew what stage the project was at and what to expect next. Now that the deck is complete, it has completely transformed our pool area into the ultimate outdoor retreat. I highly recommend Hickory Dickory Decks to anyone looking for top-notch deck building with a personal touch!

We are grateful for the long hours and dedicated work of Jeremy, our meticulous deck installer. But the entire team at Hickory was a joy to work with! They went the extra mile to find a new deck material to accommodate the specific look we wanted to achieve. The end result is lovely, and we look forward to years of enjoyment.
