Based on my personal experience, and after many months of trying to resolve serious issues amicably, I cannot recommend Custom Blinds. I would strongly consider other reputable companies before choosing Custom Blinds.
Although my blinds were not new, they were generally in good condition, and Duncan Kane was fully aware of their age before accepting the work and requiring full payment upfront. The written quotation stated that the service would include checking all mechanisms and replacing old and worn operating cords.
After the blinds were returned and reinstalled, I discovered numerous defects and issues that were not present before they were removed. Some operating cords appeared not to have been replaced, several mechanisms jammed, some blinds no longer stacked correctly, one blind was never returned- I am still awaiting the correctly sized replacement that was promised. The blinds were returned for remedial work but came back with the same defects and a note stating that no further work would be undertaken.
All the blinds were also installed using incorrect and inadequate fixings, causing them to detach from the window frames during normal use. They fell on more than one occasion, damaging the blinds and creating what I considered to be a very serious safety hazard.
Despite repeatedly requesting that Duncan Kane inspect the workmanship and rectify the defects, no inspection ever took place, the problems were not resolved, and communication eventually ceased.
I was repeatedly told that Duncan had more than 20 years' experience and that his installer had approximately 15 years' experience. Based on those representations, I expected a professional standard of workmanship and customer service. My experience fell far short of those expectations.
I ultimately had to employ a reputable independent contractor to completely rectify the workmanship and reinstall the blinds safely. The difference in quality and professionalism was profound, and all of the outstanding issues were resolved at a fraction of the original cost.
I paid in full for what I expected would be a professional service, but instead I was left with defective workmanship, unsafe installations, damaged blinds, and the additional expense of having the work redone properly.
That is why, based on my personal experience, I would seriously consider other options before choosing Custom Blinds.

As this has been shared across other platforms, we will respond once, comprehensively, here.
Since receiving your letter of demand, we have taken the opportunity to review the project, as you are aware.
At Custom Blinds, we always try to assist where we can, including taking on complex legacy work, because our goal is always to find practical solutions.
In this instance, we agreed to assist with existing, ageing window coverings that were neither supplied nor installed by us and were well outside of any warranty period. We advised that replacement was the wiser course, and our written quotation recorded the condition of the blinds and the limitations that applied to servicing them, but you expressed a strong preference not to incur the cost of new blinds, and we proceeded in order to help. At your explicit, continued insistence, our team also agreed to clean the window coverings (a service we do not offer and one that was never quoted) and performed this at no charge, despite the manner in which those demands were made.
We view the events, scope, and communication throughout this job very differently from the way they are portrayed here, as we have detailed in our direct correspondence.
Our team takes immense pride in their craftsmanship, operates with integrity, and enters every home with the sole intention of delivering quality work. They deserve the same professional courtesy and respect they extend to every client.
We remain deeply grateful to the many wonderful clients who value our expertise and understand that every good working relationship is built on mutual consideration.
Formal channels have been open and posting across social platforms serves a purpose other than finding resolution. Unfortunately, we again have to request that all further communication be directed through the correct legal channels
