Had a lovely time at Maini’s Hill Cottages. The rooms were very well set up and the bathroom had all the amenities very neatly arranged. I needed a yoga mat which was promptly given to me. The surroundings are extremely green and pretty with beautiful flowers and green lawns. The sunroom where we had all our meals is full of plants and our meals were delicious and filling. Lots of fresh fruits from the area, delicious plums from the garden.

Quiet, pure and away from the crowds, Maini's Hill Cottage is spacious. They serve fresh food at all meals. The owners interact with guests, take feedback in their stride, instinctively pitching in when needed, and mowing the lawn with equal ease. I'd gone there for a summer knitting retreat, sponsored by Vardhaman. A nice kit was put together by Olena - every single thing needed by a knitter was provided.
I was overjoyed to know that this place is completely sustainable. Not a single thing is wasted in this small paradise called Maini's Hill Cottages.
One aspect every visitor should know is that the bedrooms do not have an attached bathroom. But remember, this is a homestay. Not a hotel.

What was meant to be just a one-night stay turned into one of the most memorable mountain experiences we’ve ever had.
The three of us stayed in separate rooms within a beautiful cottage overlooking the breathtaking Kumaon hills. Every window opened into layers of forest, rolling greens, and the kind of silence only the mountains can offer.
The property itself felt lovingly nurtured — manicured lawns, fruit orchards, vegetable patches, a greenhouse, and charming collections of succulents tucked into every corner. It was impossible not to slow down and simply breathe it all in.
What truly elevated the experience was the warmth and thoughtfulness of the hospitality. The meals were exceptional — wholesome, soulful, and deeply rooted in the region. From homemade ragi breads to authentic Kumaoni dishes fresh from the tandoor, every meal felt both comforting and special.
Evenings became unforgettable with music from the ’70s floating through the air, paired with deeply insightful conversations about the land, its people, local culture, birds, wildlife, and hidden places worth discovering in the Kumaon region.
In just one night, we experienced a rare blend of beauty, knowledge, warmth, food, and stillness — something that felt far beyond a regular stay. It felt personal, enriching, and restorative.
A place with soul. We left fuller in every sense of the word.

Maini is a fantastic host and great human! I’m so glad that destiny led me to his cottage. I was traveling in the hills and haven’t had a place to stay for the night, called one home stay that was closed but was recommended to touch base with Maini. Couldn’t have been more lucky. The place itself is a little paradise garden with top notch facilities. Food is home cooked with organic ingredients from his own garden. Everything need and clean. But I cannot stress enough what a wonderful person Maini is! Absolutely recommendation for travelers who look for a place away from the buzz.

Tranquil, rejuvenating and serene .... Maini's cottages encapsulate all these emotions. Cottages offer stunning views of the Himalayas. Beautiful orchards and lush green landscapes, it was simply picture perfect!! From mini golf to cozy corners this place offers blissful experiences for people of all age groups. To top it off, the food was homely, delicious and hit the right spots! I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Absolutely wonderful holiday experience. Needed some solitude and quiet and got it. Enjoyed every second of the stay. Wonderful cottages with every possible convenience. And delicious food and company you could ask for notg more. The hosts were so wonderful and the staff too - made sure we had hot delicious food and looked after our comfort so well. Loved the whole experience - the views, location, rooms food and more than anything else the hospitality shown by the host. Our comfort was so well looked after that it was a home away from home without any of the worries😄 definitely coming back soon. Cant recommend this enough. Great place, great people
This is one of the most wonderful places I have visited. The owner is kind, caring, considerate and makes you feel right at home. He and his staff also cook up the most amazing food you’ve eaten (nod to the wood fire pizzas!). The views from the property are also beautiful. The property itself is very comfortable for 3 families and has its own mini golf course. Loved the experience, definitely coming back!

If you're looking for solitude and detox from the city life, this is the place to be. Dr Maini will make sure you have a relaxing and peaceful stay, with great food and a luxury cottage stay.
Beautifully manecured lawns and minigolf to relax with a collection of board games and novels for light reading.
The view of the Milky way galaxy and the star filled sky at night is not to be missed!
The himalayan ranges will greet you early in the morning as you sip your morning tea or freshly brewed coffee.
Definitely visiting again with family and friends.

The day we travelled to Maini's Hill Cottage, we got stuck on the road 20 kms away from our destination. Mr Shivam Maini and his friends helped us throughout - in not just getting us to the cottages but went above and beyond to ensure that we have a peaceful stay while they managed the chaos.
That was my first impression for the hospitality Mr. Maini offers, and the rest just followed.
Food: Amazing! Healthy, fresh, different cuisines - delicious.
Cottages: Clean, spacious, cozy, and eco friendly
Support staff: Graceful, helpful, and equally cooperative
Location: Beautiful!

We took a vacation break at property with family. Loved every minute spent there, the place is nice, has lots of greenery, space for kid to play and for adults for walk and soak sunlight. Food is freshly made, and seasoned according to your taste. Will definitely recommend the place to couples with kids and family 👌 👍
