Ordered four pieces of mixed chicken but received four pieces of tiny wings. Extremely disappointed!
I've been coming to Cornbread consistently for over a year now with friends and alone, and always got excellent food and loved how clean the place was maintained. Today I took my son there for dinner, his first time, and the place was filthy. Sticky floor all the way through the restaurant and all of the tables were dirty. The place wasn't jam packed so there was definitely room to tidy up. I couldn't believe how sub par the food was, mac & cheese was dry and barely had any cheese, greens were over soaked and both tasted reheated from an old batch. The fish was okay and was the only thing that tasted like it was cooked fresh. As I said, all of this was a first for me at this restaurant so I might try again. But if I walk in on a whim at 4 in the afternoon again and I see the same conditions, its a no for me moving forward. Brooklyn loved you Cornbread, bring your standard back up to par so we can continue loving you.
My husband and I decided to venture out from Manhattan to Brooklyn for some soul food. Our research lead us to Cornbread Soul. Staff were super sweet and helpful, music was great. But the food. My God the food. The fried chicken, cornbread, yams, and mac and cheese was to die for. The portions were perfect, but still had me wishing for more. Quick service and phenomenal food!
Visited on a busy Saturday evening and really enjoyed my meal. I ordered an iced tea/lemonade, and my meal was a piece of catfish, side of mac, and it came with cornbread. The food was delicious, I will definitely return.
There was no line to order when I arrived, but we were directed to order at a kiosk since they were short staffed up front. The young man at the counter was very busy but kind and I could see the workers in the kitchen working hard as well.
The ambiance was typical for a fast casual restaurant. Some people grabbing takeout orders, delivery app workers doing pickups, and dine in patrons at tables. There were seating options for couples as well as groups.
I definitely do recommend and will return next time I’m in the area.
I visited Corn Bread on a recent trip to Brooklyn, and had such a lovely experience! The food was delicious, and the staff were really friendly and attentive - especially Ayanna, who came and checked on me, and generally made the experience all the more enjoyable! I’d definitely recommend this spot if you’re in the Brooklyn area :)
The food is usually good but this time i only order two pieces of cornbread and it still took more than 40 mins. I would not recommend unless you’re able to order a min of 30 mins from picking up the food and if you’re getting delivery make it an hour. BTW, I literally live next door and it has historically taken forever. Not worth it if you ask me, it’s always a last minute resort and i always regret it
Worst food I’ve tasted . The fish was very fishy and was smelling before I got into my car. It’s was so stale and hard I could not believe it. The chicken reeked of old oil. The restaurant was so messy and the floor sticky with tables not even being cleaned. One of the workers was dipping a fork in the Mac and cheese and eating while people were waiting for their orders. Never again!
