Very pleased again! Just a filter cover had fallen down and I needed my gas logs. Pilot light put out. I was notified that the technician was ahead of schedule and could come in before lunch and that freed up my afternoon and I was very appreciative. He fixed everything within five minutes. Thank you.

Technician was friendly and efficient. Very nice guy.
I've been with Cool Care since 2015. They provided no nonsense, straight forward maintenance on my old heat pump for almost 10 years under their annual maintenance plan. When it came time to replace the unit in January 2026, I got quotes from Cool Care and multiple other quotes from different HVAC companies. Josh with Cool Care was great to work with. He explained everything I needed to know about different types of heat pumps and helped me feel confident in our choice. He also managed the whole sale and installation process making it easy for me to have one point of contact. We upgraded from a single stage Tempstar to a Bryant Crossover variable heat pump. Cool Care had the best price for that style of heat pump out of all of my quotes, and I appreciated how their install team was Cool Care employees, not a subcontractor. I also appreciate how Cool Care cared about the years I had spent with them, and they still wanted to earn my business. Overall, I am very satisfied with Cool Care and looking forward to doing more business with them. 100% recommended.
Cool Care came out to our condo in Columbia, SC for an HVAC replacement estimate. They were on time, professional, and quickly provided an estimate, but it did not include any cost breakdown.
Their price was 22-27% higher than the other quotes I received, with one even offering 1 year of free service. After comparing the equipment pricing across all the estimates, I can only conclude that the big difference with Cool Care came down to much higher labor rates since all units were comparably priced.
I contacted Cool Care because I saw a lot of positive online reviews and asked if there was a misunderstanding on the scope of work that could explain the huge difference. They replied that they offer better service and would not move on the price at all. I can’t confirm whether their service is actually better, as I will not be using them.
Overall, every other company (4 total) gave better quotes. If you’re getting HVAC replacement, Cool Care is punctual, but don’t count on any negotiation or a clear explanation as to why they are so much higher than competitors. 2 stars for being punctual and polite.

I read the owner's response. It is simply not true that I told you others had quoted used units. I did not share the details of any other estimates with your team. All quotes from other competitors were for new units. Your company charges more and did not provide a cost breakdown or offer any explanation for the difference.

Hi Patricia, thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear our estimate did not meet your expectations. Trust and quality drive our services, backed by 25 years in business. You provided us with your other estimate so we could make sure we were comparing apples to apples. Upon review with our team, we did bring to your attention that your estimate was for Previously-Owned/Used equipment. We do not sell Used equipment. As we explained to you, this more than made up for the pricing difference in the estimates. Please feel free to contact our team to discuss any concerns further. We aim to provide comfort through reliable service.

From the first phone call to the complimentary initial appointment and the installation day, the entire experience was fantastic. Derek and his coworker, Paul, did an outstanding job. They arrived on time, finished ahead of schedule, and left no trash behind. We are very happy with our new tankless water heater.
I highly recommend Cool Care for any HVAC requirements. We recently had CJ, AJ, and Jose install a new split system in our finished attic, and the experience was seamless. The team was punctual, highly skilled, and maintained a clean workspace throughout the installation. If you are looking for professional and efficient service, look no further.

My mother has been dealing with this company since the beginning. She is now 78 years old. She had a new ac unit installed a few years ago. They came out this week for the annual maintenance. It was working great. They sold her 1300.00 worth of overpriced upgrades on a unit that still has a parts warranty.

We have been a client of Cool Care for 12 years purchasing a tankless water heater, 1 HVAC unit for a rental property and our upstairs split zone HVAC unit as well as them servicing our lower AC unit through the years. After our new upstairs unit was installed in 2022 we had several issues but they always explained away the issue (i.e. needed more freon). Last month they came out 3 times within 2 weeks to finally tell us that the pipe going to our newer unit(that they installed) was too small which was causing pressure to build up and the unit would shut off. Also we were informed that the zoning board for the split zone should be different based on the unit installed. When we paid $8800 for the upstairs unit, we were told verbally and in writing that all existing equipment would be removed and replaced with the new unit. After informing us of their mistake, they quoted us $1700 to fix it.
We spoke with the owner, Kenny who never apologized and just expected us to pay if we wanted the unit to run correctly. When we installed the unit we were told that there was a rebate by SCE&G however when we went to apply, it did not apply to the unit we purchased. We asked for a refund of the rebate amount and instead was given a credit. At the next service call, we felt we were charged more just to make up for the credit on file.
We did get a second opinion on the 4 year old HVAC from another company who confirmed that the work done by Cool Care was not done correctly since a larger pipe was needed as well as the zoning board was not appropriate for the new unit. We purchased a 18 SEER unit which has been running closer to 14 SEER. Extremely disappointed that Cool Care does not stand behind their work.
When we had our tankless water heater serviced last year under the maintenance plan, the technician killed the power by disconnecting the wires instead of flipping the switch next to the unit. The next day the unit stopped working due to him not reconnecting the wires correctly.
Just know if you use them and if something goes wrong, they will not stand behind their work. Careless all around. There are plenty of other reputable HVAC companies in Columbia, so don't waste your time or money on Cool Care.

Absolutely amazing customer service. My water heater went out and I called numerous plumbing companies to get various quotes and opinions on what needed to be done. Company A took 2 hours to diagnose the problem (bad control board) with the technician having to call people with actual expertise to diagnose the problem. His recommendation - replace the entire unit for the low price of $6,000. Company B came out and diagnosed the same issue as Company A, and also quoted the low price of $6,000 to replace the unit. I finally called Cool Care and they came out and within minutes the technician diagnosed the problem and gave a quote for the replacement part and replacing the unit. The quote to replace the unit was thousands less than Company A and B, and the technician was able to come back out the same day to take out the old unit and replace it with the new unit, with the prior companies saying it'll be days before they could come back out to do an install. I am extremely happy with the level of customer care received - way above and beyond the other companies. Additionally, the phone call rep I spoke to (Stacy) when I called took the time to explain to me the service, talked a bit about the unit i was looking at, didn't rush me off the phone, and was so kind. As mentioned - absolutely amazing customer service. If you are wondering which company to call for any of these types of issues - call Cool Care. The technician, Derek, who came out was also very courteous and took the time to explain the service and answer any questions. They even gave a military discount. 5 stars for this company.

Clay is the absolute best! I have had other companies over the years come out and spend only 15 minutes at times doing the regular twice-yearly maintenance. He spends a lot more time doing what needs to be done. He is super conscientious and I can tell he enjoys what he does. And he gives great suggestions as well that will help me maintain my equipment better. Thank you, Clay!!!

Have had Cool Care for around a decade. They have installed an upstairs unit, down stairs unit ( both heat and a/c) and a Mr. Slim. Recently had to use them for a plumbing job. Have had a annual contract for more than a few years. What does all this mean? They do good work and I trust them. To me, that's the mark of a good pro.
