I want to, first and foremost, thank Mr. Alan Hillsberg and the entire team for their empathy and smooth handling of the aquamation process for my lifelong companion bunny, Frijol 🐰
Frijol was with me from 3 months old until Mother Nature chose to take him at 8 years old, living a life far beyond that of an ordinary pet—traveling different states and enjoying some takis. He was beloved by everyone!
After he passed, I called various pet cremation services to inquire about costs and next steps. Living in Queens, I assumed there would be plenty of affordable and easy options, but I was wrong. Feeling anxious and overwhelmed, I was almost ready to give up and bury my companion somewhere—which was the last thing I wanted to do. It wasn't until I called Compassionate Care Pet Aquamation, Inc. that I felt a true sense of relief.
Mr. Alan explained not only the aquamation process, but also the different options for dropping Frijol off. He even stayed after business hours to wait for me, knowing I was traveling a long way on public transit. During a sudden surge of emotion, I shared how important Frijol had been in my journey of recovery. Mr. Alan and the entire staff offered their heartfelt condolences and support, putting me completely at ease during such a difficult time. I received Frijol’s beautiful urn box and fertilize bottle, which I will use to plant some cilantro in his honor 🌱

Thank you Jim for all your help , I had no idea that they had a place like this in ny , never really looked into this until I had too . I never liked the burning of cremation but this leads to a softer version of this . Thank you for also helping my brother get me something thoughtful for me as well . It makes a hard time a little bit easier . And I will have my rosey girl with me forever .
I had my 20 years old dog aquamated with Compassionate Care and I highly recommend their services. Not only were the fees better than most of the places I called, but they were very attentive and empathetic towards me and my family during these hard times. Any questions I had and asked were answered quickly. Thank you, Compassionate Care. Do keep in mind, we have a 3 yrs old cat (my daughter's registered ESA) who, when her time comes, we'll be using your services again. Thank you.

I dropped off my dog, Harvey, and they handled everything right there at their facility. It is a very eco-friendly process, and very economical as well! They had many beautiful memorial options. Their office is very nicely appointed and they process everything on-site; I took a little peek through the adjoining door. I had a special request for his remains and they were incredibly accommodating.
When we got him back, the ashes really were beautiful, looking just like fine white sand.
On top of that, their customer care is unmatched. When a memorial item unexpectedly broke, Jim and Alan went completely above and beyond without hesitation to make sure it was replaced
Their compassion really means the world to us, and we deeply appreciate them going the extra mile to help us honor Harvey's memory.
If I can give them a 20 I would. I October of 2024 I lost my Sasha. She was 13. Compassionate Care came up on my thread. It was a blessing. On Sunday 8/30/26 my Peppa passed away it still devastating to me its less then a week. However I immediately contacted Compassionate Care to initiate the cremation. I am truly grateful for their care and accepting Peppa immediately. The eco friendly approach and compassion is second to none. Its affordable and beautiful. I am grateful forever
I wish I could leave zero stars. Words cannot begin to describe how upset I am for my family. My parents’ dog passed away last week in their home. We were trying to find someone to come retrieve her for end of life services. I came across Compassionate Care Pet Aquamation Inc and spoke with Jim about their options on what to do with their beloved Skye. My mom selected the urn she wanted and the package for her paw print.
She went today to pick up Skye’s remains along with her paw print. To her surprise, they never made her paw print! My mom is completely beside herself. And I am feeling so guilty because I found these people. We have paw prints of all of dogs that have passed away. And now they don’t have Skye’s.
The best part is, they asked her if she put her request in writing. Which she did, and she had proof of that. Not that anything could bring sweet Skye back, but offering a piece of jewelry for her ashes is less than accommodating. I would NEVER recommend this company.

UPDATE: Before posting his reply Alan asked me to update or remove my review, but time got away from me. I do want to point out that his “version” is not necessarily the whole truth. As I stated before, when my mom arrived at their facility to retrieve Skye’s remains…they neglected to do her paw print impression like she requested. Their immediate reaction was to offer her a piece of jewelry for her ashes. She denied that because she wanted to keep all her ashes together. They let her walk out all distraught. It wasn’t until hours later when I called the facility that then they offered a refund.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We are truly sorry that Skye’s pawprint was not created as requested. This was a human error on our part, and we fully acknowledge it. We understand that a pawprint can be an irreplaceable keepsake, particularly for a family who has preserved pawprints from their other beloved pets.
What we do feel is important to add for those reading this review is how we responded once we became aware of the mistake. I personally spoke with the reviewer, sincerely apologized, accepted responsibility, and issued a full refund for Skye’s entire aquamation service, not simply the cost of the missed pawprint. The refund was offered because we believed it was the right thing to do.
We also offered an additional memorial option using Skye’s returned remains. We recognize that this could never replace the pawprint the family expected, and it was never presented as though it could.
We work with hundreds of grieving families and take tremendous pride in the trust they place in us. We are human, and unfortunately, on this occasion, we made a mistake. What we can control is how we respond when a mistake occurs: acknowledge it, apologize for it, take responsibility, and do everything reasonably possible to make it right.
We deeply regret disappointing Skye’s family and wish them comfort as they remember their very loved “crazy girl.”

Alan was so helpful and compassionate. He was really friendly too. I thought it was so funny that his dog has the same name as my late cat Poppy. Thank you so much Alan for everything :)
Today is my birthday, and a little over 6mo since I lost the love of my life, my black lab Boone. A promise is a promise—and I promised Alan and his team I would find a way to gather myself long enough to write a review, so here is my humble attempt. I failed multiple times prior as it was just too painful to revisit.
I found myself 23hrs away from home, in the middle of the night, completely alone, staying in a hotel, when I lost Boone. I was nothing short of shattered. I didn’t want to be in NYC, and certainly didn’t want to be navigating this situation in the middle of a hotel either. It was a nightmare I still can’t bring myself to revisit, but certainly couldn’t have faced without Alan. I drove over 2.5hrs to have him water cremated, arrived well after office close, and Alan literally caught me as I collapsed in utter hysterics at his office doorstep. Without any hesitation, he half carried me inside and kept saying “it’s ok, I got you, it’s ok.” There was no judgement. No being upset about the late hour we finally arrived. Nothing “business” about it. Instead, I felt as if he was a family friend who knew how badly this hurt me. He didn’t rush me as I made decisions or said final goodbyes. He spoke from a place of personal experience vs a business transaction. Alan took special care and provided updates, phone calls, and for the sake of review length I’ll simply say went above and beyond multiple times to accommodate my need surrounding pickup and the unique reason why I was in town to start with. Alan doesn’t run a business, he runs a compassion-filled lifeline for people in dark moments. He displays true heart and kindness at a time when people already cannot bear to have witnessed a passing, and now somehow expected to drop them off with a stranger and walk away. I knew Boone would be handled gently from the moment I first spoke to Alan, and this was likely the only reason I was able to drive away from his office that night. I truly do not think I would have been able to navigate any of this if it wasn’t for Alan. I don’t give Alan and his team 5stars, I give them the GALAXY. Thank you for providing comfort and gentleness to us in such a tangible, palpable way. I pray for rich blessings over your business. I can think of no one that deserves it more.

Given the nature of this business, no one wants to have to find Compassionate Care, but I feel so fortunate that I did. My beloved dog was picked up from our home and transported to the facility by an incredibly professional driver. Over the next two weeks, I asked a lot of questions that were promptly answered by Alan, who ensured I got exactly what I wanted. I can't thank him enough for the reassurance and thoughtful communication throughout the process. The facility is located just a short walk from the LIRR station, which made the pick up very easy. 10/10 recommend to all in need of this service.

Compassionate Care Pet Aquamation took care of our dog, as well as multiple of my sisters critters. They are always amazing to work with and they truly care. I wouldn’t go anywhere else, highly recommend!
My boy Peanut passed away and I took him to Compassionate Care. They were very very caring and thoughtful. They took the time to explain the process, and they even had a discussion on how to cope with my lost. I am very appreciative of that.

Our little old lady name Wawa, a tiny chihuahua passed away on Christmas eve. A few weeks prior I met Alan at a reptile expo and “aquamation” is a brand new world to me, Alan took time at the show and explain what they do. When my mom told me she passed away I contacted Alan right away and he took her in the day after Christmas, which I know many people are still on vacation. Alan explained in more details on how the process goes and the durations and temperatures. I feel much much more comfortable knowing that my baby will go through a gentle process and more eco friendly instead of the high temperature and rough process. Bring Wawa there I know she’ll be treat like their own family. They will take care of her the way we did until she’s able to go home in another way. I got her clay paw print and when I gave it to my mom she can’t stop crying. I know how much it means to her to be able to keep her foot print. All my previous pets did not receive the same “care” they should, and they were charged much more than what I paid for Wawa. Financial and emotional both taken cared at the same time. I will definitely have see Alan again, hope not that soon. Thank you !
Losing our beloved Sonya has been one of the most heartbreaking experiences our family has ever endured. During our search for the right way to honor her, we discovered aquamation, a dignified and environmentally conscious process that we had never heard of before.

He made something unfamiliar feel simple and comforting, never overwhelming us with complicated details. Most importantly, he made our family feel supported and understood in our grief.
When we returned to pick up Sonya's remains and the remembrance items we had chosen including her fur, teeth, and paw print, we were met with the same warmth and gentleness that had guided us throughout the entire process. It brought us tremendous comfort knowing that Sonya had been treated with dignity, care, and respect every step of the way.
The remembrance package has given us peace in knowing that although Sonya is no longer physically beside us, she remains forever in our hearts and still has a place in our home. Aquamation is available in 28 states, and after experiencing this process firsthand, I can honestly say that it is how I would choose for my own body to be cared for one day.
I wholeheartedly recommend this service and the aquamation process to any pet parent facing the unimaginable loss of a beloved companion. During one of life's darkest moments, this company provided compassion, comfort, and a beautiful way to honor the unconditional love our pets give us throughout their lives.

I have never encountered a company that takes such time, care and consideration for ALL beloved pets and their families. I felt so confident that my sweet Apollo would be in the best hands and I cannot imagine bringing my other pets anywhere else when their time comes. When I called to inquire, I was spoken to with kindness and then once I arrived (clearly in a state of extreme grief) I was met with empathy and my pet was given love and care as if it was their own. A huge thank you to Compassionate care, now my dear Apollo is memorialized in (my opinion) the most beautiful way.
