Jack is a very professional trainer with deep knowledge in coffee theory. He taught briefly tutoring at milk frothing, steaming and foaming techniques and demonstrated excellent latte art skills.
I'm grateful to have learnt how to create my masterpieces of latte art designs included heart, tulip and layered heart. Rosetta will be my next challenge!
I paid £4.20 for an 8oz oat latte here, which immediately raises expectations given that this is pricing at — or above — what even the most expensive chains in the UK charge for a comparable size. For context, this is firmly in line with, if not exceeding, premium pricing at major brands, yet the experience didn’t come close to justifying it.
I specifically asked whether there was an additional charge for oat milk and was told there wasn’t — meaning £4.20 is simply the base price for a small coffee. At that level, you are positioning yourself as a premium offering. If that’s the case, then where is the product knowledge? No explanation of the beans, no origin, no roast profile, no tasting notes — nothing. If you’re charging at the top end of the market, customers should at least be told what they’re drinking.
Unfortunately, the quality didn’t back it up either. I’m not just going off taste alone there was clear issues with emulsification instability in the oat milk. In simple terms: the milk had been overheated and burnt. This points to poor micro-foaming technique and a lack of temperature control during steaming, which completely ruined the balance of the drink and introduced a harsh, bitter profile.
So what you’re left with is a small, overpriced coffee with no transparency, no attention to detail, and subpar execution. It’s hard to justify the cost when both the technical preparation and overall experience fall short.
Overall, this managed to disappoint both my taste buds and my wallet at the same time — which, at £4.20 for an 8oz coffee, really shouldn’t be happening.

Hi Dan -
£4.20 for an 8oz oat latte in our coffee shop is correct, and yes, that includes oat milk. Oat milk costs us roughly double regular milk, and we choose not to add it as a surcharge.
Also, for clarity, we don’t use “small”, “large” sizing — that’s Americanised, chain-style coffee. We serve specialty coffee to recipe, not volume.
We’re an independent British Coffee Roaster, not a chain, which means we roast onsite, invest in quality, and pay our taxes here in the UK, (unlike many of the chains you’re comparing us to).
On the “no information” point, the origin, tasting notes and roast details are clearly displayed on the menu board behind the till, on the back of the grinders where you ordered, and on every table. It’s not hidden, you were standing all around it.
As for the technical breakdown, an interesting read, especially considering none of it was mentioned at the time, when it could have been resolved in seconds. If a drink isn’t right, the normal approach is to say something there and then and we will fix it.
At this point, we didn’t feel the need to go through the rest of your review.
Although, we did notice your last review was for McDonald’s 5 stars, so it’s probably best you stick with what you enjoy.

Genuinely the best coffee, I'm sure I've said it before, however can now confirm the Ruben toastie and the brownie were amazing too
One of my favourite places for coffee.
The 3 cheese toastie is very nice too.
P.S. don't miss their cold brew.
Wonderful little place buried in the Milton industrial estate (didn't even know it was there), great tasting coffee and light bites, lots of house roasted coffee available to buy and brew equipment (V60s, AeroPress and such paraphernalia) I believe they also do classes in roasting.
Awesome coffee. Full stop.
Delicious fresh roasted coffee. like an idiot i managed to leave my wallet there. Even though they weren't open on Saturday one of the staff confirmed they had it and I managed to get a friend to collect it on the Monday. Just a mark that these are decent people, will certainly be visiting next time I'm in town. Thank you X
There's no other place like this on in Cambridge: amazing coffe, lovely place and staff. Whenever I want a good coffe out, it's my n1 choice!
