I contacted Coastal Epoxy to discuss using an epoxy product in the wall-to-floor junctions of my shower. After looking into the NCC and AS 3740 waterproofing requirements myself, I became concerned that these junctions are meant to allow for normal building movement and are generally sealed with a flexible sanitary sealant as part of a compliant system. The method proposed to me used a rigid epoxy in areas that I understood should remain flexible. When I raised this, I didn’t feel the compliance side was clearly addressed, and I wasn’t confident the approach aligned with current industry standards. Because of that uncertainty, I decided not to proceed and will be engaging a company that uses traditional flexible sealants in shower junctions. Communication was polite, but the technical approach didn’t give me the confidence I needed for such a critical wet area..
