I order six assorted cichlids from California Cichlids and received a variety of bright colors. UPS delayed the shipment by an extra day so one didn't make it, but it goes to show how healthy and well cared for the others were that they made it. The cichlids seem very happy and energetic in their new home. Joe was very helpful with handling the DOA and replied quick to my emails. Will purchase again.

Joe, is amazing from his communication to his incite and willingness to answer questions and really go up and above. Service used to be like this and somehow it has become a lost art. My only regret is that I did not find Joe and California Cichlid's years ago.

Thank You Gavin, I prefer the keep it simple method. Dont need all those bottles on display in a lfs, most are a money grab. Employees are trained to sale to you. I prefer selling healthy fish.
African Cichlids are one of hardiest type fish available. Clean water, 78F, dechlorinator, all thats really necessary unless you have acidic water coming from tap then adjustments can be made. 7.4 ph is good to go, fish will be fine.

Joe was super helpful and friendly I set an appointment with him and was able to go in and pick my fish. He is very educated and taught me a lot of thing I didn’t know. I’m leaving this reviews days later and my fish are all healthy and thriving in there new tank. I took a chance on California Cichlids and could not be happier that I did. You will not find a better, or more competitively priced, selection of Frontosa. There is also, often, a wide selection of Malawi Cichlids as well. The fish I receive are almost always larger than the size quoted when placing the order [the eye-biter pictured is close to 10"! I ordered a ' 7-8" fish'] I've included pictures of some of the fish I've received from Joe at California Cichlids. I cannot recommend this place strongly enough, and I gladly pay the large sum it costs to ship fish from California, to Virginia. Place an order, you will not regret it!

The fish quality n customer care are above n beyond! I only planned ordering a few cichlids but when I picked them up, I was flabbergasted by all rest that had not ordered. I had only one not make it but Joe did his best to get me a replacement n even within couple hrs it was packaged n shipped that very same night for overnight shipping! The very next morning fish was super healthy n colorful. I’d definitely be buying plenty more n highly recommend anyone here for any of your South American to African cichlids needs n wants!
