Both of my sons train at this magnificent dojo. Their evolution in such a short time is amazing. Professor Josef's structure of teaching is always leveling up. I recommend anyone looking for a great place to have their child learn self-defense along with those old school values that have been lost in today's generation to come to chokelab. Osu!

A heavenly clean facility with truly world-level instruction. Chokelab Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is easily one of the top academies in New Jersey. The mats, bathrooms, and training areas are spotless, and the environment feels incredibly safe for both kids and adults. Professor Josef Manuel teaches with a level of detail and professionalism you rarely find. You can tell this academy cares deeply about the students and the community. Did I forget to mention very clean? Absolutely five stars.

I’ve had a great experience at Choke Lab Academy. The instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and do an excellent job breaking down techniques so everyone can improve. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive, with a strong sense of respect among teammates. It’s a great place to train whether you’re a beginner or experienced. I can’t say enough good things about Choke Lab! From the moment we joined, it was clear that the coaches genuinely care about each child’s development, not just in jiu-jitsu skills, but in confidence, discipline, and overall growth. My child started training at just 3 years old, and she is always excited when she hears we are going to jiu-jitsu. Brandon and Manuel have been incredibly patient, kind, and encouraging every step of the way. I was a bit nervous to have her start so young, but the patience and understanding they have with her, lets me know I made the right choice. They create a supportive and fun learning environment where kids feel safe to try new techniques and build their confidence. The classes are well-structured and engaging. Beyond the techniques, the kids are learning the importance of listening and following directions, which will bring them far in life.

I've witnessed this gym grow from where it began to where it is now. I moved out of state to FL, but my daughter wanted to train while visiting family. The discipline, skills, and mindset they instill in these kids is second to none. They are doing an amazing with their students and are very attentive. Professor Josef is incredible. He came and did a BJJ seminar at our gym and was super detailed about everything and had some superb technique. This guy has authentic world-class jiu jitsu and its apparent as soon as you step on the mats. 10/10 best jiu jitsu lessons you can get hands down. If you're looking for a BJJ gym in NJ then Chokelab is definitely the best choice hands down.
