Loved it!!! Super fun and Estella, our guide was great sharing her knowledge. Also, hot chocolate and fireplace at the end. We had a lot of questions answered, and her english was very clear and adjusted to a multicultural tourists. We also had a picture taken with the stars by another girl, super nice as well.
The sky was clear and the telescopes powerfull.
Would recommend!
Absolutely amazing!!! Estella was really nice and informative. We saw some really cool stuff that we never would have seen otherwise!!

Absolutely worth booking with Chameleon Stargazing! Estella was incredibly passionate and knowledgeable, and she explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. Being part of such a small group made the experience feel really personal and efficient, and she was happy to answer all of our questions.
We were lucky enough to see some of the zodiac constellations with our bare eyes, and Estella even pointed them out for us with her laser pointer.
We were provided with blankets, which was great, but I definitely recommend layering up and wearing a thick pair of socks. My feet were absolutely freezing by the end! 🥶
Overall, such a memorable experience and I’d definitely recommend Chameleon Stargazing to anyone who wants to learn more about the night sky!

It was absolutely freezing, but enjoying a cup of hot chocolate while listening to our guide made it all worthwhile. We had the chance to look through two different telescopes, and each one gave us a unique view of the night sky. Of course, the stars were beautiful, but what amazed me even more was the mystery and vastness of the universe. It truly made me realize how incredible space is. 🌔🌌🪐✨
To end the tour, we gathered around a fire, roasted marshmallows, and chatted together. It was such a warm and memorable way to finish the evening.
I'm so happy I joined this tour! They even took wonderful photos for us, which made the experience even more special. I can definitely see why this tour has such high ratings. Although the tour is conducted in English and Chinese, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable stargazing experience!

The stars were amazing! Wow the sky here is beautiful, can see more of the milky way than I have ever seen! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and their telescopes let us see some beautiful nebulas and galaxies!

An unforgettable experience! My guide (cherry lady from USA) was knowledgeable, entertaining and passionate about astronomy, making the evening both educational and enjoyable. She was assisted by a friendly and helpful facilitator cum driver. The private dark sky location was spectacular, and the views of the stars and Milky Way were simply breathtaking. We especially appreciated the warm hospitality, well-organised experience and the opportunity to view celestial objects through the telescopes. If you're visiting Lake Tekapo, Chameleon Stargazing is an absolute must-do. Highly recommended!

Incredible intimate experience!! We had a wonderful tour with chameleon stargazing. The guide, carla (from U.S) is so passionate in showing us the stars and constellations. We get to see the stars and moon with the 2 telescopes. Also had blankets, warm hot choco, and bonus marshmallows for the kids. It was truly a night to remember. Our first stargazing experience... and we ll bring home a memory of a lifetime. Thank u for the drop off trip to our campervan park too. Saves us a walk in the cold!

“Wow!” was the first word that escaped my mouth the moment I stepped out of the car. The sky was beyond anything I had imagined. Coming from Singapore, where a sky like this is simply impossible to experience, I was completely blown away.
From the very beginning, everything was seamless. Clear instructions were emailed to us before the tour, making it easy to find our way. In fact, just a few days earlier, we had been comparing several stargazing companies before finally deciding on Chameleon—and what a fantastic decision that turned out to be.
Karl and Estella were wonderful. They made everyone feel welcome and comfortable from the start, with thick blankets and hot chocolate to keep us warm under the night sky. Do make sure to dress warmly though, it makes the experience all the more enjoyable.
What truly stood out was how much passion and knowledge they shared throughout the evening. We learnt so much about the stars and the night sky, all while gazing up at one of the most breathtaking views imaginable. As a lovely keepsake, we were also given a photo of ourselves beneath the stars. The photos I’ve attached to this review were taken using nothing more than my phone and are shared simply to show how incredible the visibility was that night and just how much we were able to see with our own eyes.
The evening ended on a perfect note with toasted marshmallows around the fire and a little red-light keychain, which helps preserve your night vision while stargazing. Coincidentally, it came in very handy for me as I began chasing auroras the very next day!
If you’re considering a stargazing experience, don’t hesitate, book with Chameleon. It was an unforgettable evening and an experience I would happily do again and again.

Visited April 2026 - a great stargazing experience! The team had two big telescopes out for our group, showing us amazing sights we had never seen before. The 'tour around the sky' was informative and interesting, especially to someone from the northern hemisphere. And the complimentary hot drink and photos emailed to us afterwards were a great touch too - thank you!

We had an amazing time w Karl and Adria. They told the stories of the night skies so beautifully weaving elements from science and the stories of the Moari. It truly felt like a magical tour across time with the creation of the stars into our eyes. Absolutely recommended for a few hours to disconnect from the digital harried momentum of the world to just wonder at the beauty and genius of how our ancestors navigated the world using their eyes and the clues that show up faithfully in the night sky.
