Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t great. The staff are genuinely pleasant to deal with, but I’m not convinced the service is as reliable, or ultimately cheaper, than using a manufacturer’s service centre.
We brought our 2019 Volvo XC60 in for its 6-year/90,000km service after previously always servicing at Volvo Five Dock. Wanting to explore a more affordable local option, we chose Central Autohaus based on generally positive reviews. The service on 19 Nov was possibly slightly cheaper than Volvo, which initially seemed promising.
However, as soon as the car was returned, we began receiving a warning message: “Power steering assistance temporarily reduced.” After some fairly thorough online research, I found that the likely cause was the Auxiliary Battery, a simple replacement that doesn’t typically require a mechanic. Still, I wanted to rule out any service-related issues, so I booked the car back in for a system check on 8 Dec.
When dropping the car off, I mentioned the Auxiliary Battery as a possible cause and asked them to confirm. We were later contacted and told the diagnostic scan indicated low voltage was causing the issue, the Auxiliary Battery was not the cause, and that the main battery was at fault and had been replaced, at a cost of $924. I was surprised they proceeded with the replacement without checking with us first, but I accepted their assessment.
Shortly after collecting the car, a new warning appeared: “Start/Stop Support battery service required.” A quick internet search clearly pointed to the Auxiliary Battery. The car went back again on 14 Dec, and this time the diagnostic check confirmed that the Auxiliary Battery did need replacing.
This left us with a few concerns:
1. How reliable are their diagnostics if the Auxiliary Battery issue wasn’t detected in the first scan?
2. Did the main battery actually need replacing?
When you factor in the repeat visits and extra time involved, the overall experience wasn’t as cost-effective as we’d hoped, and the uncertainty around the diagnostics has left us feeling less confident about the quality of the work. The staff are very nice though and the Lego models in reception are quite impressive - hence a 2-star review.
A Christmas tree of warning lights came up on my dashboard and my regular mechanic was all booked out. Thankfully Autohaus had availability to see me the following week.
The car was diagnosed and repaired within a day which was fantastic. They also washed my car! I was very surprised as it wasn’t a service but that extra detail made me smile!
Pricing was decent and competitive compared to mechanics in the local area.
10/10 would go back.
The front suspension on my failry new Mercedes Benz has been making noise after hitting a few large potholes on Sydney's roads over the last few months. I took the car into the dealership and they replaced some parts (for an exorbitant price) that didn't need to be replaced, and the noise was still there. I took it back and they wanted to charge me even more. So I went to central Autohaus. They diagnosed the problem, were upfront about the risks and the costs, and fixed the car within a couple of days... all for a more reasonable price than the dealership. It drives like new and I couldn't be happier. Great service, workmanship and overall experience. Thank you!
Update, the new premises is just as convenient as the last, possibly easier to get into. Another year, still first class.
Still good. Scrounged a perfect second hand part to replace an unavailable part. Top service, as usual.

Fantastic service, very professional, extremely fast turnover on the job.
I’ve got an old Mercedes which I love dearly, however, it can be tough to repair some of the wear and tear because of the scarcity of parts.
I’d been to about four other specialists to get my rear taillight repaired, and Central Autohaus resolved it in one day.

As a woman client you can definitely feel safe and respected, they would never take advantage.

Wouldn’t take my car anywhere else - professional, efficient and quality service and seems to be reasonably priced. Everyone we have interacted with in the business is friendly and courteous and the communication is excellent. A few times the team has gone above and beyond and it is always appreciated.
These guys are legends, very professional and knowledgeable. The front of desk are friendly and welcoming, I was made to feel very comfortable- it can be intimidating entering spaces like this as a female but this was a very positive experience.

Came in for a pink slip and general service on my Toyota and they've honestly been great. Really thorough with what they're doing on the car all the while being budget-conscious. Mark especially has been great. Definitely coming here for my future services.

A month ago I had my audi in for an assessment. Rear bumper got pushed out in a weird incident ripping the connectors off, sensors no longer in place. I went in thinking it will be another few grand to fix it.
I was met by an older gentleman who had a look at it. He was clearly experienced who said it will likely need a replacement to fix it properly but lets see what we can do for now. Then off I go to get coffee down the road that he recommended. Literally, 20mins later he comes in the cafe and said its done and hands me the keys. YES, he fixed it, drove my car down to the cafe and DIDN'T charge me. I honestly couldn't believe it, that there are still some honest good professionals in the mechanics world. He could have easily charged me. Sorry I don't remember your name, but Im the one who got you the ball cake!
I know the bumper is not 100% fixed without replacing it but it's been good so far. THANK YOU. He made my day and I'll definitely be back and would recommend you guys.

I’ve loved this place and have been a long-term customer, but the recent changes have been disappointing. The facility is larger and seems like an upgrade, but the service doesn't match up. Expect a 5-10 minute administrative process, including signing an agreement, and they no longer ask if your car has any issues. I’m wondering if this is under the same ownership. Unfortunately, I think I’ll be on the lookout for somewhere else.
