We had a very positive experience with our tech from Carter's My Plumber, who was able to come out on the same day to address potential leaking from a wax ring. I feel like the price was still a little high, although they were significantly ($300+) cheaper than the company who identified the problem, and made it very easy to use one of their online coupons as well. Their tech was fast, professional, and answered any/all questions I had about the issue as well as a plumbing question I had related to a different room. We will definitely contact them again when in need of plumbing services.
If I could give negative stars, I would.
I called this company during a stressful no water situation. To their credit, they did send someone out right away. Unfortunately, that’s where the professionalism ended and the upselling began.
Within minutes of looking at my system, the tech told me confidently that I “definitely” needed an entirely new well pump. Price tag? Around $5,000. No discussion of alternatives. No troubleshooting. No checking the simple, inexpensive components first. They skipped straight to the most extreme and most profitable recommendation.
Thankfully, I trusted my instincts and got a second opinion.
The truth?
My pump was perfectly fine.
I didn’t need a $5,000 replacement.
I didn’t even need a $500 repair.
The real issue was a simple electrical problem that the power company fixed for free, and at most I needed a basic pressure switch replacement…something this tech should have checked first.
But it gets better (or worse, depending on how you look at it):
After I declined the wildly unnecessary replacement, the technician began calling and texting me repeatedly. The pressure to approve the job bordered on harassment. Completely unacceptable and wildly unprofessional.
So here’s my honest summary:
If you want a company that diagnoses correctly, looks for honest solutions, or respects your boundaries, look elsewhere. My experience was a textbook example of why homeowners lose trust in service providers.
Strongly do not recommend.
Carter’s NOT my plumber.
Previously deleted, but felt I needed to repost with new information of this company wronging others.
We had a main line sewage backup in our basement and ultimately hired Carter’s for a cleanout installation project. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected from a local, family-owned company with a strong reputation. As of today, nearly a month later, we still have no resolution. I’ve asked multiple times to speak with the GM and now the owner—neither has responded.
We were initially told the dig would occur near the back of our house, affecting two bushes. We agreed and were shown the exact area. However, within minutes, the crew began digging in a completely different location—much more visible from the curb and far more disruptive to our landscaping. When we asked why, we were told they were concerned about running out of funding to extend the pipe the full length of the driveway. This was deeply frustrating, especially since we were never informed of funding limitations or given a chance to discuss alternatives. We were in the process of securing a large personal loan for additional home repairs, and the lack of transparency felt like being turned away in a moment of need—like being in a hospital bleeding out and told “no insurance.”
Because of the new dig location, several landscaped bushes were trampled and scorched by the excavator’s exhaust. When I brought this to the excavation manager’s attention, he initially dismissed the possibility, claiming the machine couldn’t produce exhaust from the bottom and that the bushes were “already burned” before work began—based solely on photos. I asked for those photos to be provided with timestamps, but never received them. He later admitted his crew corrected him and acknowledged they likely caused the damage. He said he would come out to take photos for replacement, but follow-up has been inconsistent and exhausting. Most recently, we were told (after following up multiple times after the attached voicemail was received) the solution was for Matt to personally dig up and replace ONE bush—despite 4–5 being visibly damaged and them admitting fault. We’ve offered to obtain a quote from a professional landscaper for reimbursement, but this has remained open-ended.
During the excavation, we overheard crew members discussing their next job, saying it “wasn’t even going to fix the issue” and that “it was a waste of money for them.” This was incredibly disheartening to hear as a customer spending over $5,000 with the same company. It undermines trust and confidence in the work being done.
We were also told the next best step is to have them come out approximately twice a year to water jet at $1,000 per visit. This experience could have easily converted us into long-term customers. Instead, we were left with a very poor taste in our mouths—and many friends and family members who have specifically asked who did the work so they can avoid these same frustrations. Even friends who previously had good experiences with Carter’s have been so turned off by our situation that they no longer feel comfortable recommending or using the company in good faith.
We understand that no project is perfect and that challenges arise. However, clear communication, accountability, and respect for the homeowner’s property are non-negotiable. We expected better from a local company with a strong reputation, and we hope Carter’s takes this feedback seriously to improve future customer experiences.
I cannot say enough good things about Carter's. I had used them in the past. So when I had a recent emergency (involving several issues), I called them again. The office staff was so friendly. And the technicians were very helpful and responsive. First, I worked with Harry Miller. He was very nice and professional. He identified the problems and fixed the first issue quickly! The second part of the repair was scheduled and completed within a few days. For this repair, I worked with Alex Parkhurst and Carter McGill. Both were great. I am especially thankful to Alex for going above and beyond to help me and for finishing the remaining repairs flawlessly. Also, they were considerate enough to were shoe covers the entire time. And they were on time and efficient. I would highly recommend this team. And I will use them again in the future.

Called Carters and had my water heater flushed. Joshua was the tech. Showed up on time explained what he was going to do. Very personable and thorough. Showed me the before and after. Before water was dark , after was clear. Already notice difference water is hot versus warm. It's 13 years old. Did a very good job I will have to replace at some point and will look to carter's to do that. They are local based greenwood family business. Very good people, honest, reliable and they know what they are doing. Tried to get this done by other area known names and after 3 times not showing up or canceling appointments led me tcarter's.. now i have a plumber i
