Sky Tower Experience
Our stay at the Sky Tower at Canyon of the Ancients Guest Ranch was the highlight of our Colorado trip. Garry and Ming were incredible hosts. The ranch, it's animals and the accommodation were all really special. We were able to relax, take in the beauty of the area and enjoy the stunning night sky. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
I’ve been visiting the Canyon of the Ancients Guest Ranch since 2013, and each time that I drive through the gate, I feel like I am home.
Here’s a short list of what keeps me coming back and a list that might entice you to go: the beautiful dry, sunny, mild high desert location; the happy, well-cared for animals, with Boris, Quasi, Mickey, Rascal, and beloved Bear as a few of my favorites; the impeccable accommodations such as Cowboy Cabin, Elden Stone House, and Sky Kiva; the history and the rock art adventures that await with Garry and Ming as guides; the nearby recreational possibilities including several National Parks like Mesa Verde, Arches, Canyonlands, and Monument Valley.
However, above all, it is Ming and Garry who keep me longing for a visit to their Ranch. They are two very, very welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly humans, and they have created a very special place for all of us to visit.

Thanks so much Sue. Our creatures especially Rascal misses you. Now we have a young boy lamb called "Bubba", I think you will find him so adorable next time when you are here. So beside "Mickey" the human loving cow, we now have a "Bubba" (only 8 days old now) another human loving baby lamb.

What an awesome week! I could not have wished for a better birthday week than family and friends at Canyon of the Ancients Guest Ranch. Everything was perfect from the wonderful and unique accommodations to birthday dinner in Rascals Hideout with Rascal in attendance and capped off with a concert under the stars. Can’t wait to start planning our next visit!
Beauty, history, and fun at the Ranch
We had a wonderful time at the Canyon of the Ancients Guest Ranch. Hosts Gary and Ming were terrific. The cabin was comfortable and contained everything we needed (although we had intended to purchase food in Blanding, but the grocery store was closed on Sunday, so we made do with canned veggies from the Dollar store and the ranch's delicious meat, cooked to perfection on the grill). Southwestern Colorado is a special place, with much beauty and history. We loved the animals on the ranch, including the pet sheep and pet dogs.
If you are looking for an unique and authentic ranch experience. Canyon of Ancients Guest ranch in SW Colorado is the place to be. Our group of three stayed at Elden Stone house for 6 nights. We enjoyed the company of all the pets and ranch animals. Gary and Ming are great hosts. They gave detail introduction around the ranch made us feel like home. The details of all guest houses' decoration embrace themes owners intended to create for guests. We also ordered lamb and beef from ranch and enjoyed fresh tomatos, herb and beets from the garden. we had an unforgettable exprience and will plan to come back soon.
Amazing place to stay.
This was our third stay over the years, and it is now a destination that we plan our trips around. We appreciate the peaceful and beautiful surroundings, privacy when wanted, and opportunities for hikes to historical sites and meeting new friends and critters. On quiet days, my spouse goes out to make sketches and take photos for future paintings, and I read in the hammock and take breaks for walks and hanging out with the ranch cats, dogs, chickens, and sheep. Ming and Garry are amazing hosts!

I wish we had planned to stay longer! We spent two nights in the cowboy cabin and didn’t want to leave. So beautifully decorated, in an amazing setting, with incredibly hospitable hosts. If we ever return to the area we will stay longer, in a larger cabin. Highly recommend this place, especially as a relaxing getaway.
History at your door step.
IIf staying on a working ranch, in a quaint log cabin, in the heart of the Canyon of the Ancients has any appeal to you, then this spot is for you. It is really well located near many of the historical ruins such as Mesa Verde and Hovenweep. It is convenient to Cortez as well. If this is not enough to entice you, the owners and operators are just really nice people. They have just opened a new facility down the road called the Sky Ranches. The views are amazing and the facilities hard to appreciate if you have not see them. They also offer fresh products like lamb, beef and eggs that make grilling a real joy.

Goats, and Ancient paintings and beauty Oh My!!
Wow!!! We discovered this place because of Maisie!! She’s our Airedale terrier and we use the app Take Fido to find dog friendly accommodations. Well, once I looked at the website I decided this adventure was for us. Great cabin, serene landscape away from it all, great hosts that had meat, vegetables and eggs in our fridge when we arrived!! Loved seeing the sheep and hearing the stories. Met other interesting people and got personal tours of their property and ancient drawings. We will definitely return!!!

This is luxury cabins in a rustic setting. Gary and Ming have created cabins that are very nice. They also provide great customer service and care about every guest. They showed us stuff that we would never have known about without them.
This was a great relaxing stop.

Hidden Gem - stay here, it has it all!!
After five unforgettable nights at the Wagstaff Cabin, our family from Vienna, Austria (traveling with our two daughters, ages 10 and 12) wished we had stayed longer. Garry and Ming are warm and genuine hosts who introduced us to their animals: the intelligent cow Micky (who loved pears), two friendly flocks of sheep, including the pet “Incredibles,” and our daughters’ favorites—the gentle dogs Boris, Delores and Bessi. They also shared the rich cultural heritage of the area, guiding us to ancestral pueblo sites on their property. Another family staying on site joined us, and our daughters quickly bonded with their children, meeting up on the new trampoline and exploring the creek together. We took day trips to Hovenweep (just 30 minutes away, with a spectacular one-hour hike and few crowds) and Mesa Verde’s Cliff Palace. The Wagstaff Cabin itself is beautifully designed—worthy of an Architectural Digest feature. Evenings were spent grilling organic meat from the ranch, watching incredible sunsets, savoring the quiet, and stargazing from the patio. Though far from Austria, we can’t wait to return. It’s impossible not to fall in love with the Canyon of the Ancients Guest Ranch. Thank you, Garry and Ming, for your time, knowledge, and outstanding hospitality.

Hidden gem in South West Colorado
Our stay in the Guest Ranch with Ming and Garry is definitely the highlight of our roundtrip. We were speechless when Garry showed us around on the ranch (we stayed in the Wagstaff Cabin), even more impressed when Garry and Ming took us to the Sky village, two Pueblo guest houses. All so beautiful in an overwhelming landscape, locations with a spiritual dimension. Ming and Garry are warm and welcoming, and experts in the cultural heritage of the region. Also the food and meat which they produce and can be purchased, is delicious.
