We spent six wonderful nights in cozy cabin #9 and couldn’t have asked for a better home base for our trip. The cabin was spotless, comfortable, and filled with thoughtful touches that made it feel like home.
One of the best parts was its central location — perfect for taking day trips in every direction. We were able to explore nearby towns, hiking trails, and national parks, all within an easy drive, and it was great to come back each evening to such a peaceful and inviting space.
The hosts were fantastic — friendly, responsive, and clearly take great care in maintaining the cabin. From the well-equipped kitchen to the comfortable bed and relaxing outdoor space, every detail was just right. Our kids really enjoyed their own private loft space too. The hosts even followed up after we returned to Florida to ask if there was anything they could do to improve!
We truly enjoyed our stay and will absolutely come back. This cabin is ideal for anyone looking for a cozy retreat that’s both relaxing and perfectly situated for exploring the area!
We stayed in the Family Cabin & had friends and family in 4 of the smaller cabins. All of the cabins were spotless and everyone loved the personal touches/extras—even fresh eggs in the fridge! We hosted a dinner in the Family Cabin, we had 16 people & plenty of room! We found extra folding chairs in the garage & the kitchen had everything we needed. The coffee bar was well stocked too. The kids wanted pancakes the next morning but we didn’t bring the ‘stuff’. No worries—scan the QR code & it will be delivered to your door!! Old fashioned hospitality with amazing customer service!! Above & beyond!!
What a wonderful experience we had at Campfire Cabins.
We rented the family cabin for 7 days and 8 nights. We could not have been happier with the accommodations! The kitchen was fully equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, coffee makers, stove and everything with which one needs for cooking. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice and clean. Plenty of hot water! The cabin is even equipped with a quality washer and dryer. There were six of us in our group (including two young children) and there was plenty of room for all of us.
The family cabin is up on a hill and it is very quiet. The location is close to all of the towns and attractions around Rapid City. We simply loved staying there! Sarah and Al are fantastic hosts! What a wonderful experience! We hated to leave!
We stayed one night while passing through the Black Hills and stayed at a wonderful small cabin at Campfire Cabins. There was three of us guys and there was perfectly three beds, it was very clean, modern, and extremely well stocked with a very thoughtful welcome basket for us. 100% will call hoping for vacancy when heading west again and hopefully will plan a longer stay in the hills because it is in a nice location as well. Thank you campfire cabins for a great stay!

We stayed for a full week in late September. Days prior to our arrival, Sarah provided us with a welcome email/text with check-in information and if we had any questions/concerns or special needs to contact her. I found this to be above expectations. The cabins are very clean and amenities in the cabins (books, games and movies) are a nice touch. We had awesome weather; we did not spend much time in the cabins except to sleep. Up early, had coffee with the goats and rabbits, sometime the turkeys would stop by, then off to find a different hiking trails. The cabin kitchen is functionally supplied to cook your own meals if you wish, also laundry equipment on site, (they provide the laundry supplies too). We will be staying there again with out question. Sarah and Al have a little piece of heaven and are very sweet to share it with you.
Fantastic place. You’re in a great location to explore the wider region, from Spearfish and Devils Tower in the north to Rapid City and Custer State Park in the south, but more importantly you’re staying at a great place in its own right. It’s on a small farm along a quiet road, and the owners (super friendly and professional) made sure that their cabins are well-built and quiet. Thought was obviously given to “the small touches” like coffee in the kitchen, bug spray ready for your use, small fans in the loft, nightlights, etc. The grounds themselves are enjoyable from the woods to the firepit & lawn games to watching kids try to catch the rabbits or pet the goats. My only – and I mean ONLY – caveat is to say while that the loft concept is awesome, the stairs leading up to it might be risky for small kids. I would suggest your younglings be at least school-age. And that’s not criticism, just advice from someone who would stay here again in a New York Minute & hope to do so. I could go on with the compliments, but this isn’t a newspaper essay….
Great place!
Visited in the middle of August. These cabins are great for a family. Very clean and look brand new. They have a variety of tame animals that my kids absolutely loved. From goats and rabbits to turkeys and ducks. Don’t let any road construction interfere with booking here. It’s not an issue at all. Sara and Al are great hosts. They have everything covered for your next vacation.
We came to stay with our two sons and their families. The cabin was fantastic. Very clean, nice amenities unlike other places that go cheap, fully stocked kitchen, and lots of extras like games, movies and toys. The grandkids had a great time with the goats, chickens, calves, and rabbits. Great location that is central to most things in the Black Hills. Sarah was very pleasant and reachable before, during and after. We highly recommend Campfire Cabins.
My husband and I took our 3 young boys to the Black Hills in June for the first time. Our cabin truly felt like a “home away from home!” We enjoyed all of the beautiful views the Hills had to offer while racing back to Campfire Cabins each night just in time to feed the animals! My boys loved chasing the rabbits around trying to catch them and whistling for the goats to come play every chance they could! Each night we played games and watched movies (all provided by Sarah in our cabin) after having a bonfire! Sarah and Al were so welcoming, generous, and just truly wonderful people to be around. The cabins were absolutely gorgeous and so very clean… (a HUGE plus in my book!) the fridge was stocked with condiments and fresh eggs right from their farm! Sarah has such a sweet and inviting personality, I felt like I had known her my whole life! Our stay at Campfire Cabins was one of the best experiences and we WILL be going back to visit soon!
