A hidden gem.

During my Roatan vacay, I overheard fellow travelers talking about Camp Bay Beach and the La Sirena tiki-pub and how spectacular they were. Now that I’ve visited both, I would say they were faintly enjoyable—but perhaps not worth the fairly arduous undertaking required to get there. However, I found Camp Bay Lodge to be an incredible hidden gem. With its lovely rooms, comfortable beds, and terrific showers, not to mention the really good food and drinks, Camp Bay Lodge became one of the highlights of my trip.
What you should bring:
- Strong bug spray
- Snacks and lunch supplies (the food is great but the menu is limited)
- Books, magazines, games— there are very few activities besides swimming and kitesurfing
Pros:
- The Palm Room and several others are really right on the beach
- There is hardly anyone on the beach for miles
- You can watch the sun set each night
- Breakfast is included and delicious! Other food options are reasonably priced and just as great
- La Sirena restaurant is a 10-minute walk and has great seafood (get the lionfish!)
- Eve makes incredible cocktails! 🍹
- If the power goes out, there are backup generators! This only happened one incredibly windy night.
Cons:
- The no-see-‘ems are really bad at night and their bites itch like crazy. I brought Deep Woods Off and was still itchin’ like crazy
- The web site claims your taxi here from the airport is about $90– no way. One-way will range from $60-80
- There are security cameras around, but no one knows how to access them. When someone took something of mine, we were unable to look up the footage and figure out who it was (I ended up tracking them down on my own 🕵️)
Be mindful that A/C costs $20/day extra!
Overall a great hidden treasure ! One of the most serene and therapeutic place to stay and recharge. I was pleasantly surprised between the contrast of west end and camp bay! Highly recommended.
Small suggestion - A couple of more sign boards after turning off of the main road will help reach the hotel more easily. I went back and forth twice to realize there is a small hidden way to reach the resort .. part of the fun I suppose lol

This is an exceptional place, no doubt! The moment you step foot at Camp Bay Lodge wellness and serenity welcomes you. The vibe is enjoyable, Roatán's pristine nature welcomes you with a soothing breeze.
Regarding the restaurant, I had high hopes—especially for the coconut Caracol/conch and the grilled red snapper, two staples that any seafood-forward restaurant should execute with flair.
The coconut conch was visually appealing. However, while the texture was decent, the flavor didn’t go much beyond the surface. It lacked the boldness or creativity that could have elevated it—no seasoning that lingered. It was simply...fine.
The grilled red snapper looked well enough but with no standout seasoning, the rice and beans were memorable though.
To be clear, neither dish was bad, but didn't leave a lasting impression.
The service was pleasant and attentive.
Location is awesome. Beautiful beach. Took kitesurfing lessons with Efe great instructor lots of information. Good wind days. Great place for kiting. Plenty of beach chairs and lounges. Nice long walks on the beach front. Rooms are a bit dated. But have everything you need. Nice comfy bed and bedding.

Camp Bay lodge is paradise to me... I am a long time resident in Roatan but I live in the west side of the island. Every time I want some peace, relax, go away from the crowds and kind of find myself in nature and how the island was to be many years ago I escape to Camp Bay lodge. I just came back today for a 3 nights at the Almond Tree Studio, beautiful place to stay, last time I was at the Sunset Cabana, same..... as always I didnt want to leave.
Chris is the perfect host and accomodate all my needs since I was coming with my dogs as well. The food is amazing, the staff super friendly.
Wake up there, go for a swim, long walks on the beach, read a good book on the hammock, go to the dock and just lie down and look at the sky, look at the amazing instructors doing and teaching kite surf ( next time I need to try it ). Everything is just what I need want I go there. Take some time for yourself and visit Camp Bay lodge, it will stay on your heart forever
An absolutely wonderful accomodation that came recommended and did not disappoint.
The location is peaceful and quiet, however there is always something to do - kitesurf, yoga, boat excursions, snorkeling, diving, etc.
The staff are so friendly and helpful, we couldn't have asked for more from them.
We will absolutely be return guests in the future

Camp Bay lodge was just what I needed.
Chris is a master host and CBL is a gem. This resort is on a long stretch of beach about 1 mile long. On my beach walk this morning I didn’t see a sole.
The food is great, the bed comfortable, and the space is relaxing. The dive operation totally took care of me, doing all the setup I am not fond of and helped me in and out of the boat.
I’ll likely be back.
