Let me first say that my low rating has nothing to do with the technician who came to my home and did the repair. He was very knowledgeable and professional. Lack of transparency about pricing and lack of follow-up communication is the reason for the low review.
My A/C stopped working. I scheduled a non-emergent visit. The technician found the problem fairly easily and let me know that he had the 2 parts on the truck. He then quoted me close to $1500 to fix. I was very surprised by that amount as it seemed extremely high. The invoice is not transparent and does not break down the price of things. I chose to move forward against my better judgment because I really couldn’t miss any more work to take care of this.
The total still nagged at me so I called and requested that a supervisor call me back to review the invoice with me and explain the cost better to me. I never got that call so I called 48hours later and requested again. One full work day later and I still have not received that call.
Since no one bothered to communicate with me I started to do my own research and according to google, the 2 parts cost a total of $50. I then put in google AI how much with service this repair should cost and it provided a range of $400 to $600. That is more in line with what I thought I would be spending.
I really don’t understand how Hummingbird could come to a $1500 charge between those parts and the technician only being at my home about an hour and a half.

The Garrett was very professional. Explained the issues very well along with pictures, said the unit was old and should be replaced sometime but it works. Didn’t try to scare me into buying a new one and said if something does go wrong he would not recommend me to spend money on it which from what I saw agree. There was no hard sell which I like.

The crew showed up when they said they would and completed the job in a timely fashion, despite the fact there were some complications. First, the hot water heater that they brought was a 40-gallon tank and a 30-gallon tank is what was ordered. The 40-gallon tank barely fit in the small space where our previous hot water heater was located, which necessitated some creative plumbing. The installers did a great job of fitting into the space that was for all intents and purposes to small!

Sam came early went right to work, quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He was very friendly and professional. In all in the middle of a heat wave my air conditioning and from the time I called Hummingbird and it was fixed in less than 24 hours. The price was very reasonable.
