3. Negotiate on your behalf (which, in itself, will pay for the cost of their service)
After meeting with a number of other buyers’ agents, both Thoma and Matt stood out as being significantly more researched and knowledgeable than the rest of what we saw on the market. They didn’t try to use any sales tactics or anything to secure a new client at all costs, but rather focused on providing us with as much value and education during our first meeting. I left that first meeting thinking to myself, I need to change the way we structure our client meetings to match theirs, as I was sold on the spot. They truly offer a no-brainer service.
And that was just the beginning. We have enjoyed the entire process. Visiting multiple houses per week became our new normal, and after each visit their understanding of what we want increased, but also our understanding of what we want became clearer. It was so much fun to spend so much time with Thoma and we learned so much in the process. They expanded what we thought was possible, both in terms of finding the right house and also helping us structure our finances, which allowed us to secure our dream house, which turned out to be much better than we ever hoped (standalone, car park, pool, garden, views, and 180m from the beach in Tamarama). When it came down to negotiation, their strategy and personal knowledge of all the agents in the area really helped us feel in control and calm in a situation that otherwise would have been incredibly stressful. As a testament to their work ethic and love of the game, when it came down to the wire, I was happy to go ahead with the price that the seller wanted and gave them the green light, but they insisted on continuing to work on the seller for another hour, which resulted in them saving an additional $100k, which by far covered their service fee.
Writing this reminded me once again how great this entire process was, and now we can’t wait to have a pool party with them to celebrate!
