My colleague and I had to come here for brunch before they close for good on New Year’s Eve. I ordered the Pecan Pie French Toast and Fried Chicken and Waffles. Whew, were they good! The cheddar waffle was excellent. The Pecan Pie French Toast was to die for! Ultra rich and sweet! I am sorry they are closing. The service was good and I’m glad we came.
I’ve been here many, many times and the food and service were always excellent. The barbecued mussels are AMAZING and something I haven’t seen on other menus in NYC. The fried chicken in any form was also fantastic and the cocktails always perfection. This neighborhood staple will be sorely missed, but I’m so glad I got to dine here last night for one final time. Be sure to check out their sister restaurant French Louie!
The balding host was extremely rude and condescending. He was very nice to a white couple in front of me, so not sure if it was because I am a person of color. Really unfortunate, but we ate at a different restaurant nearby that was amazing and had friendly staff.
Such a cozy little restaurant - feels like I'm staying in someone's home! Service was really great, food was good but could be better. Mushroom soup was delicious; popovers, brussels sprouts, and pumpkin bread pudding were also pretty good! the mixed greens salad was lacking flavor and was quite bitter. I would definitely come back and try other menu items!
