We purchased a salvage engine from Butler and they did a great job working with us initially on the pricing. We had the engine installed and had nothing but problems. The engine ran terrible and we attempted to repair it after a phone call with Butler.
The engine was beyond repair.
Butler ultimately did give us our money back but it cost us close to $2000.00 in additional labor.
At no time were we even aware that we could purchase a warranty and it took several emails and phone calls for their owner to acknowledge this.
Their sales representative never offered us a warranty because he thought we could not afford it after the initial pricing met our budget.
After inspection of the engine we purchased from Butler VIN number on their receipt did not match our engine.
Maybe an honest mistake, but we are not convinced.
We purchased a different engine, and we were informed about a warranty almost immediately.
To summarize, I do not recommend this company and if you do make sure you have a warranty and check all documents match the VIN of the donor vehicle.

It is correct that an extended warranty was not offered at the time of sale. During a lengthy initial phone conversation, the customer requested the lowest price possible, and when they arrived, we provided an additional discount. Based on that priority, our sales representative did not suggest optional add-on warranties that would have increased the overall cost. The request to add a warranty was made only after issues were discovered following installation.
Regarding the VIN concern, we want to be clear that the engine provided was accurately documented. We track every unit through our inventory management system and provide extensive photos and donor-vehicle YouTube videos to ensure full transparency. The engine sold to this customer was from a 2014 Ford F-150 donor, VIN 1FTFX1CF6EFB81864, internal stock number 0004Q. At no point was there any mixing of VINs.
While it is unfortunate that the engine experienced problems after installation, we did honor our standard 90-day warranty and processed the return and refund as smoothly as possible. We understand the frustration that comes with unexpected repair costs, and we did our best to assist within the scope of our policies.
We remain committed to honest business practices and clear communication, and we appreciate the opportunity to address the concerns raised here.
