My partner and I stayed at Birchwood Pitlochry for two nights and we had a great tine. The four course vegan dinner was incredible, the food was tasty and fresh. Dean and Paul made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. They were super friendly and provided really helpful recommendations on things to do in the area. The cocktails were also spot-on. Overall, we had a very good stay!

I didn't stay at Birchwood, however I turned up drenched and freezing at their door with my dog at night after not being able to get hold of my AirBnB host nearby. They took pity, took us in, gave me a pot of tea, let us dry off and then helped me get in to my cottage. Dean and Paul went above and beyond - I was so shocked by their kindness and I will never forget it! So thank you both and we will be sure to stay with you next time we are in Pitlochry. Also, the location is wonderful and the building is gorgeous (and great tea).

5 star champagne afternoon tea at The Birchwood Pitlochry We pre-arranged a champagne afternoon tea at The Birchwood as part of a day trip from Edinburgh, pottering around the picturesque high street in Pitlochry. The sandwiches and selection of cakes were exquisite. The warm scones with clotted cream really were delicious on a dreich day and the proprietors, Dean & Paul, were excellent hosts. They kindly boxed up our leftovers to take home whilst we explored the beautiful woodland setting. Will definitely be coming back to stay at the hotel.

I stayed at Birchwood at the weekend and had a really lovely time. I arrived early enough to explore their woodland, which was peaceful and with little hideouts where you can sit and watch the wildlife. My room was much larger than I expected and the superking bed with its luxurious linen and quiet surroundings made for a very restful sleep. The small details were well thought out. The towels were very soft and fluffy, the Birchwood toiletries from Gordon Castle were beautiful and the in room refreshments were thoughtfully put together. Dinner was a generous and delicious four courses and breakfast the next morning set me up for the day. Paul and Dean have created a relaxed atmosphere but with still keeping everything to a high standard. They always had time for a chat with me and nothing seemed too much trouble. I am already looking forward to returning the next time I am in Pitlochry. PS Dean makes a fab Negroni!

Pitch Perfect in Pitlochry! We had a lovely stay with Dean and Paul at Birchwood Pitlochry. They were very accommodating and offered many suggestions to make the most of our time in the area. We originally had booked to stay under the previous owner and name Saorsa 1875 when the hotel was fully plant-based but they were still able to accommodate our vegan diets with some of the best food we ate on our trip. We really enjoyed chatting with them at the bar in the den before dinner and at breakfast. I can't think of a better way to have spent our first night in Scotland. The hotel is a short walk from the train station (~10 min even on a rainy day) but Paul kindly drove us to meet our train at departure to avoid the rain and ensure we made it on time. Our only regret is that we weren't able to spend more time here.

We had a wonderful weekend at Birchwood Pitlochry, with an amazing vegan dinner and breakfast (and great Margaritas). The room was really nice, cosy and warm and with a beautiful view of the surrounding woodlands. As is the bar downstairs, which is small but worth a visit even if you are not staying at the hotel. I also really enjoyed reading in the library for a few hours after a day hillwalking. The owners were incredibly welcoming and helpful and had great suggestions for things to do in Pitlochry. We will definitely be back next year!

What a fantastic stay at Birchwood Pitlochry. In advance of heading north, I used the Birchwood's information guide to plan my trip. The recommendations were spot on, introducing me to new sights in Perthshire. Following a difficult journey, I arrived late to Pitlochry but Dean & Paul proved to be kind and understanding hosts. Nothing was a problem: Dean put me at ease while Paul made a really tasty, high quality supper, which was so welcome as Pitlochry's restaurants were soon to close. The quality of the accommodation - including the lux Gordon Castle toiletries, the delicious food, and the professional but informal hosting, all came together to deliver Birchwood's promised 'informal luxury'.

Es war unfassbar schön. Die Zimmer sind gemütlich und vollkommen ausreichend. Klar der Wasserdruck ist bisschen mau. Aber es ist sehr sehr familiär und tierfreundlich. Parkplätze sind auch vorhanden. Nach Pitlochery brauch man nur wenige minuten Fußweg. Kurzum es war ein schönes Erlebnis als wir da gewesen sind. Zu empfehlen das Abendbrot...es war unfassbar lecker sowie das Frühstück.

My wife and I had a fantastic stay here. Dean and Paul were excellent hosts who couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. We were booked for dinner on the Saturday night and the food was delicious. The hotel is really well located for both the town and the distillery. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Autumn Bliss in Splendour ! A magical and romantic experience in a traditional Victorian boutique hotel in the heart of. Pitlochry. Beautiful rooms and gardens. Had a wonderful stay at Birchwood in October 2025. The place is incredibly cozy and has this unique welcoming charm that makes you feel at home. The owners are genuinely passionate about delivering a great guest experience. Excellent dinner menu, and reasonably priced too. If you're looking for something more than just a bed and breakfast but don't want to break your bank on a five star hotel, I find that Birchwood offers excellent value in that space.

Well worth a visit! We spent a couple of days in Pitlochry, staying at the Birchwood Pitlochry - this was just a few weeks after the hotel had stopped being Saorsa1875 and became Birchwood. The hotel was still entirely plant based while we were there, although I think they are planning to move to a hybrid model (while still offering vegan-friendly hotel rooms and meals for those who want that). The new owners were lovely - very friendly, and they made sure we had everything we needed. The room was beautiful and very comfortable, and the food was amazing - both my husband (non-vegan) and myself (vegan) thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend!

Beautiful rooms overlooking the splendid Birchwood private woods. The hosts Paul & Dean were very helpful and made sure we had a memorable experience. Amazing breakfast and great dining experience, complements to the house chef. Well stocked bar and an array of single Malts to enjoy in their cosy living area. Walking distance to everywhere, shops, theatre, restaurants, the Salmon ladder, the Heather Gem factory, loch Faskally, river Tummel, Ben Vrackie, and the train station. We didn't even need a car with a direct line from Edinburgh, Glasgow & Inverness. We shall be back in the Spring !
