Great diy classes, Caroline is knowledgeable and hilarious in her delivery of the classes. The small groups allow for each attendee to recieve adequate attention so you'll never be left scrambling for help. I've attended 2 classes so for and I look forward to booking more. Highly recommend. Also very convenient for those wanting to learn diy without having to commit to applying for weeks long coarses or apprenticeships.

I cannot recommend doing a course with bePractical highly enough! Today I completed a a half day 'Nailing It' session and feel so informed and empowered to buy the correct tools I need and get started on my home improvements! Caroline is so so lovely, knowledgeable and encouraging.

This was such a great experience - did a course over one day and learnt so much and built confidence to get stuck into DIY! Caroline is great - gave loads of practical tips, advice, a chance to get hands on and get questions answered. It’s a lovely place too. Have recommended to friends already and will come back to do more!

I really enjoyed the sealant course. Caroline is a great teacher and we had a talk first on different types of sealant, the best brand to use, how to operate the "gun" etc., then we got going on the practical side. With Caroline's clear instruction and supervision, it proved easier to do than I expected. We were taught to remove the old sealant first, then to apply the new. We were given some tips on how to ensure the the sealant had a smooth finish and how to rectify any flaws in good time before the sealant dried. I now feel fully confident to have a go at replacing my bathroom sealant. Also hoping to utilise this new skill in mortaring an exterior wall with lime mortar using a sealant gun. Well worth attending if you want to save money and add another string to your DIY bow!

Thanks so much, Jan. I’m really glad you enjoyed the sealant course.

You took to it so quickly, and its great to hear that it felt easier than you expected once you got hands-on with it. Brilliant that you’re now feeling confident to tackle your bathroom sealant yourself (that’s the goal!).

And your lime mortar idea sounds like a really interesting project. Let me know how you get on. Thanks again for such a thoughtful review and for recommending the course.

This was a first DIY Assist and Caroline was so helpful, clearly explaining what I needed to do to fit wall lights, frames for shelving and, as time had run out, fully explained what I need to do next to complete the projects. Will definitely go to more BePractical workshops and contact Caroline for future projects where I need expert guidance. So worth it.

Thanks Jacqueline. I’m really glad your first DIY Assist Session was helpful. We got loads done, and you looked so confident drilling into those hard walls by the end of the morning.

Look forward to seeing you at a bePractical workshop one day, and photos of the finished shelves, when they’re done.
You know where I am if you need to check anything out

Massively recommended. I needed a made to measure storage for my electric clothes dryer. As with any such project, there is always more to it than meets the eye and I was so grateful that Caroline not only showed me everything and answered my questions but guided me around the bits I could do. It was so empowering and also, if I may say, I was surprised how cheap it all worked out. I would have paid double elsewhere!
Reply from bePractical Ltd 2026.04.15
Thanks Pavla. I’m really glad you enjoyed DIY Assist. It’s always fun building something from scratch. And don’t forget: you had all the ideas about what you wanted; we just found a way to make it happen together. Now you’ve got the “hard” bit of finishing it off and making it look beautiful.

Looking forward to seeing you at Intermediate DIY Club soon… and I’d love a photo of the storage in action when it’s done.

Highly recommend Caroline for the DIY assist and/or courses, which are so useful and delivered in a really clear way. Caroline is really skilled and a great teacher. She helped me with cut and fix some tricky skirting boards in my home and showed me how to drill in a curtain rail, and made me feel much more confident to try more tasks like this in future. Thanks so much!

I really enjoyed the small group session on skirting boards recently with Rachel. It was packed with tips and she did everything to ensure we were comfortable with the tools and techniques. It was great being able to practice fitting so many examples. We probably could have done another hour as the time flew by, but I went away feeling confident and having learned a lot!

Did the beginners' Nailing It DIY course. Fantastic training. A lot of great hands-on skills and content, and because Caroline's style is so clear and relatable, the various tools and topics all seemed easy, enjoyable, and do-able at home. I recommend for anyone. Will definitely be doing a few more courses to build my house maintenance & DIY skills.

My sons booked me on the DIY for beginners . What a fab pressie and such a beneficial way to spend 4 Monday evenings. Caroline is so encouraging and willing to impart her considerable knowledge in a friendly and inclusive environment . Loved it and feel empowered to have a go trying a few jobs in my new house . We learnt how to use drills;saw wood ; put up a shelf ; use sealant and fill holes . I highly recommend giving it a go . Such a positive experience . I’ll be back for more

I could not recommend Caroline's courses more highly. The Nailing it! DIY for Beginners Course is the 2nd course I have been on at Be Practical. The first was the Kitchen & Bathroom Confidence Plumbing Workshop and both were SO informative. Caroline is a brilliant teacher who literally has thought of everything. Of every possible question she might be asked (and I ask a lots of questions) she has already been included. She makes everything look easy and when you do what she has shown you, it is!! I have never come away from any kind of workshop where I have felt so 'enabled' I will definitely be going back for more...

Hi Helen,
Thank you so much for this lovely review. It really means a lot.
I’m so glad you enjoyed both courses and found them helpful. I always want people to feel comfortable asking questions, so I’m really pleased you came away feeling more confident and able to give things a go yourself.

It was lovely to have you back here again, and really nice to meet your husband too and have you both on the course together.

Thanks again for taking the time to leave a review, and I’d love to see you again on another workshop in the future. Please stay in touch

I had simply the most invigorating day I've had in a long time on Caroline's 'Boxing In' day course. It was my first time using power tools and Caroline made it feel so safe and doable. Her approachable nature makes you feel so welcome and relaxed from the minute you walk in. We were encouraged and held throughout, whilst given the space to experiment and play. I came away feeling so energised and capable and picked up an electric sander the next morning. After getting comfy with a jigsaw, anything feels possible! I highly recommend this course if you're keen to learn more about power tools in a supportive and safe environment and realise that you CAN DO IT. Whilst also having lovely conversation and tea breaks with yummy biscuits. I'm ready to book in my next course, I want to do them all!

Thank you Claudia. I'm really glad you enjoyed the course - it was a really fun day. I hope you manage to keep that enthusiasm and confidence going - keep using those power tools. Looking forward to seeing you again on more courses in May. It will be great to see how your DIY projects are getting on.
