I recently hosted a Yoga and Wellness retreat with Basundari.
From the initial enquiry, to the high end details of the scheduling, I was impressed.
Our time together as a group was a wonderful experience - we all felt completely supported and best of all we were connected with guides and specialist practitioners from the local area.
We had 15 women on a retreat here and the experience was nothing short of amazing. The staff were all so incredible, they offer both a morning and turn-down service in the evenings. If you are hosting a retreat I have only the best things to say!
Oh my goodness how to even explain how amazing this stay was!! The service was spectacular, the food was superb, the location was beautiful. I felt so much at home here even though I wasn’t and that’s such ode to the amazing staff who are all super super kind! ☺️☺️

Our stay at this retreat in Ubud, Bali was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we felt immersed in a world where nature, serenity and thoughtful design come together in the most harmonious way.
The entire property feels like it was built around the jungle rather than on top of it. Every space — from the beautifully designed rooms to the yoga shala — blends seamlessly with the surrounding nature. Practicing yoga while listening to the sounds of the jungle was magical and something I will never forget.
The food deserves a special mention. Three times a day we were served delicious, fresh, vegetarian meals that were prepared with so much love and intention. It set the tone for our entire retreat and made us feel nourished from the inside out.
The wellness area was another highlight. The sauna overlooking the jungle is an absolute paradise. Being able to have ice baths, drink fresh coconuts and book massages on site made the experience complete. Everything was effortless, peaceful and incredibly restorative.
What truly elevated our stay, however, was the staff. Warm, attentive, and always smiling — they made us feel welcomed and cared for at every moment. The cultural insights they shared, the welcome ceremonies, and the rituals we experienced offered a beautiful window into Balinese tradition and spirituality. These moments made our retreat deeply meaningful on a personal level.
There is honestly nothing to criticize. Everything was perfect. The atmosphere, the nature, the service, the design, the food — every single detail contributed to what became one of the most beautiful and memorable experiences of our lives.
If you’re considering booking a retreat here: do it. It’s a dream you won’t want to wake up from.

This is already my fourth time here, and every visit feels more magical than the last. From the moment I arrive, I feel at home. The service is exceptional, the people are warm and genuine, and the kitchen is absolutely amazing – everything is prepared with so much love and care.
Basundari is a truly special place. The atmosphere, the energy, and the attention to every detail make it not just a retreat space, but a deeply nourishing experience. Everything here is beautiful and magical, and my heart feels full every time I leave.

A truly exceptional retreat experience. Basundari delivered above expectations in every detail. The space is beautiful, calm, and thoughtfully designed, and the team is consistently professional, warm, and efficient. Our group of 20 felt supported, cared for, and deeply welcomed throughout the entire week.
The staff keeps everything running smoothly, from the manager to the young fellas who keep the space beautiful and tidy. A special recognition to a young worker called Merta, who was super professional and kind! They were all absolutely outstanding and deserve recognition. Their work made a real difference.
The food is also 5 stars. Thank you chef Andreas for such dedication and love, all the participants were beyond happy with every single meal.
This is a five-star venue for retreats, and I look forward to returning. Highly recommended.

Was lucky enough to stay for 7 nights for a yoga retreat. Loved the quiet location, lovely compound and rooms, sauna, pools and most of all the food and friendly staff all around.
We spent a wonderful week at Basundari, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The rooms were beautiful, and the entire location had an incredibly charming and peaceful atmosphere. The team was exceptionally friendly and supported us with every question we had — always with a smile and genuine kindness.
The food was absolutely delicious and lovingly prepared, which made every meal feel special. The surrounding area is stunning as well, giving us plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy different activities. Although we were a bit outside of Ubud, we appreciated the quiet and relaxing environment while still being able to reach everything we needed.
Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we would happily come back!
My stay at Basundari Retreat Bali was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome - attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring throughout our visit.
The food was a highlight: each meal brought a different cuisine, absolutely delicious and crafted to perfection.
We stayed in the Arjuna villa, and it was simply breathtaking. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and came with our own private pool—an oasis of tranquility that made the retreat feel even more special.

Die Anlage ist wirklich traumhaft und es war so schön, den ganzen Tag Dschungelgeräusche um sich zu haben. Ich war für ein Yoga Teacher Training dort und dafür war wirklich alles vorhanden (ganz tolle Shala, etc.). Das Personal ist sehr sehr lieb und das frische gekochte vegetarische Essen wirklich unschlagbar.
Das wirklich einzige Kritik (meckern auf hohem Niveau) sind die sehr großen und harten Kopfkissen.
From the moment I arrived, I felt like I had stepped into my magical jungle dream. The property is so beautifully laid out featuring winding paths, statues, quiet places to sit, and flora & fauna (including frogs, snails, geckos, butterflies and monkeys!!). The rooms were prepared with care for us with everything we could have needed close at hand.
Dayu knew us by name from our first meeting onward. She was so patient, answering all of our questions and is was so helpful with ideas re. tours, places to go etc. She was instrumental in identifying a bird sanctuary and art gallery that were perfect for me to visit.
The chefs worked so hard for us to prepare delicious and beautiful meals. Their combinations of local fresh produce and fruits, international flavours, and homemade creations were amazing. There was always plenty of hot, creative and fresh food choices at meal time and fresh fruit, snacks, coffee and tea throughout the day/evening. While vegetarian, vegan and mostly gluten free food is not my usual fare, I felt fully satisfied and nourished throughout the 10 days at Basundari.
The massage team was wonderful, and I was lucky to have Nopi as my massage therapist for most of the days. The range of services from Balinese to Bamboo to Thai massage and facials/reflexology was so comforting and called for since we were dancing and doing yoga 2-3X per day.
The property is peaceful, safe and well cared for. Sunrises from the second level of the kitchen/dining room were breathtaking.
My time at Basundari is a life highlight and I look forward to the opportunity to visit again!!!
We stayed for 10 days at Basundari for a Dance & Yoga Retreat. The experience exceeded our expectations. Fantastic quiet secluded jungle location but not far from Ubud if you feel like going out.
Very attentive and super-friendly staff that took care of every detail like excursions, airport transfers, workshops, scheduling massages.
The rooms were spotless, the shala perfect for our dance and yoga sessions.
Did I mention the food? Upper level restaurant quality that can make every dietary requirement still taste fancy.
We will be coming back!
