I trekked to Annapurna Base Camp in 2023 with Petr and Prakash who now run Base Camp Himalayas, and honestly, it exceeded every expectation I had — not just in terms of scenery, but in meaning and depth. What made the biggest impression on me wasn’t just the snow-capped peaks or rhododendron forests (though they’re stunning) — it was the way the team connected us with the culture. We drank salty butter tea with a teahouse owner whose family had lived in the village for generations, and we met a women’s cooperative making traditional handicrafts. These weren’t tourist stops — they were real interactions that felt organic and respectful. Petr plans his treks with humility and care, and it’s clear that Base Camp Himalayas is driven by more than just business. They invest in the local communities, pay their porters fairly, and support education and women’s health programs in the areas we trekked through. That really matters. I came home with a full heart and a head full of stories. If you’re looking for a company that truly respects the land, the people, and the experience — this is the one.

Hey Pete,
This was honestly one of the most beautiful treks I’ve ever done. Not just because of the stunning peaks and landscapes, but because of the cultural connection. It was amazing to hear the stories of the people living in those mountain villages.
Evenings around the fire pit, showing them photos, sharing where we came from, and listening to their life stories, those were moments I’ll never forget. I especially loved the time we spent in the Gurung villages. Life there is simple, grounded, and beautiful. A reminder of how peaceful things can be when we cut out the noise.
This trip was like a perfectly cooked dish: good friends, mountains, and real adventure.
Let’s plan the next one soon!

A beautiful, slow, soulful walk through the heart of Nepal I joined Petr and Prakash who now run Base Camp Himalayas for a trek to Annapurna Base Camp in January 2023 — and I still don’t fully have the words to describe how special it was. This was my first time in Nepal, and honestly, I was a bit nervous about altitude, logistics, food… all the usual stuff. But from day one, everything was handled with quiet confidence and professionalism. Petr’s style is low-key and humble, but he clearly knows what he's doing. The vibe was relaxed, supportive, and real.Every day on the trail felt rich — not just because of the epic scenery (which is epic), but because of the cultural insight woven in. We learned how to greet elders in Nepali, how to eat dal bhat the local way, and why every village has its own gompa (monastery). One day we stopped to watch school kids playing football on a dirt pitch at 2,000m while their teacher waved from the window. It’s those human touches that stick with me most.Shout-out to Prakash and the local crew too — kind, funny, and incredibly experienced. The whole operation feels ethical, grounded, and human. This isn’t just another trekking agency — it’s a community-focused company with real values.

Base camp himalaya review Trekking to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes had been on my mind for years, but I kept putting it off. When my friend Petr launched Base Camp Himalayas, I finally decided to go for it and booked the trek for next spring.I’ve known Petr for a while and trust him completely. He’s thoughtful, well-organised, and takes his time to get things right. Booking through his company gave me the confidence to finally commit to the trip.I’m really looking forward to the experience and would absolutely recommend Base Camp Himalayas to anyone planning a trek in Nepal.

I know Petr, the founder of Base Camp Himalayas, personally — and if there’s one thing I’ve always admired about him, it’s the way he approaches things with a quiet focus and a lot of care. He’s thoughtful, honest, and someone who naturally pays attention to the details that matter — both in planning and in how he works with people. I haven’t joined one of his treks (yet), but I’d recommend Base Camp Himalayas to anyone who’s looking for more than just a guided tour — someone who values genuine experiences and responsible travel.

Together to Materrhorn I’ve done a fantastic climbs with Petr in the Swiss Alps, including the Matterhorn, and have always been impressed by his professionalism and integrity in the mountains. He approaches every expedition with quiet confidence and thoughtful preparation — exactly the kind of person you want leading or planning an adventure. What he’s built with Base Camp Himalayas reflects those same values. The company offers more than just guided treks — it’s committed to ethical practices, fair wages, and making a positive impact in remote communities. Even without having trekked in Nepal with BCH (yet!), I’ve seen enough to know that their approach is genuine and built to last.Highly recommended for anyone looking for a deeper, more meaningful trekking experience in the Himalayas.

I’ve known Petr since our trekking days in New Zealand, and mountains have always been a big part of who he is. They’re not just about adventure for him, but also about connecting with people and nature along the way. That’s why it makes total sense that he’s started Base Camp Himalayas. He’s bringing that same spirit into creating trips that are not only breathtaking but also meaningful and supportive of local communities. If you’re thinking about trekking in Nepal, this is definitely the one to check out.

Hey Pete,
Really appreciate this — thanks so much for the kind words! You’ve seen first-hand how much the mountains have shaped my life, so it means a lot to hear your support as I take this next step with Base Camp Himalayas.
Can’t wait to hopefully share another trail with you sometime soon — maybe in Nepal next time!
Cheers,
Petr

A company built by someone who truly understands the mountains I’ve known Petr, the founder of Base Camp Himalayas, since our trekking days in New Zealand, where we did a multi-day route through the Southern Alps. From that experience alone, I knew he was someone who not only loves the mountains but also takes great care in how he moves through them and how he supports others along the way. What he’s created with Base Camp Himalayas is something special. This isn’t a big commercial operation — it’s personal, thoughtful, and rooted in fairness. Petr works closely with his team in Nepal to make sure porters and guides are paid fairly, and that the treks have a positive impact on local communities, especially in education and women’s health. If you’re looking to trek in the Himalayas with a company that values respect, connection, and real experience, this is the one. I’d trust Petr with any adventure and I know many others would too.

A once-in-a-lifetime gift — and the perfect team to make it happen I recently booked the Luxury Everest View Trek with Base Camp Himalayas as a surprise trip for my wife, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better planning experience.Petr handled everything with care — not just the logistics, but also the emotional side of giving someone a trip like this. He helped me tailor the dates, add some special touches, and ensure that the entire experience would be both stunning and smooth for someone new to high-altitude travel. What really stood out was the company’s integrity. The guides are paid fairly, the service is personal, and the journey supports local communities. It’s rare to find a trekking company that offers luxury, ethics, and real heart all in one. Can’t wait to see my wife’s reaction when she steps into those mountains.

Booked the Three High Passes trek for next March with three friends through Base Camp Himalayas, and I’m already confident we’ve made the right choice. I know Petr, the founder, personally — we’ve done multi-day treks together in the past — and when he launched this company, I knew it would be something special. Petr's attention to detail, honesty, and respect for local communities are a big reason we chose to book through him. This isn’t a “plug and play” kind of tour company. Petr actually took time to understand our group, explain the complexity of the route, and offer advice on how we should train and prepare. He’s also built a team in Nepal that puts ethics and impact first — fair pay for guides, support for rural schools, and women’s health initiatives. That matters. Super excited for this journey!

Can’t think of a better company — or person — to trek the Himalayas with I’ve just booked the Three High Passes Trek for March with three friends through Base Camp Himalayas, and already the experience feels different — in the best possible way.I’ve known Petr, the founder, personally for years. He’s someone who lives and breathes the mountains — not for ego, but out of a genuine love for wild places and the people who live in them. His approach to travel is thoughtful, grounded, and deeply respectful. He walked us through every step of the booking — no pressure, just honest info about the route, fitness prep, gear, and the importance of acclimatisation. What’s even better is knowing the trek supports local education and women’s health projects in Nepal, and that the guides and porters are treated fairly. You feel like you're part of something meaningful.Highly recommend — both the trek and the people behind it.

A truly meaningful adventure — more than just a trek to ABC I joined a small group trek to Annapurna Base Camp in January 2023 with Petr and Prakash who now run Base Camp Himalayas. It was one of the most rewarding travel experiences I’ve ever had.Yes, the views are everything you dream of — Machapuchare at sunrise, the vast bowl of the Annapurna Sanctuary — but what really made it special were the cultural moments woven into every day.We stopped in traditional Gurung and Magar villages, visited a local monastery on a hilltop ridge, and even spent one afternoon helping cook dal bhat with a family who hosted us for the night. Our guide (trained by Prakash, the company’s co-founder in Nepal) taught us Nepali greetings and explained the meanings of local prayer flags, mani walls, and the subtle etiquette around village life.Petr made sure everything ran smoothly, from acclimatisation and rest stops to supporting the porters in a way that felt genuinely respectful and fair. It’s clear that this is not just a business for him — it’s a mission.Highly recommended for anyone looking to do ABC with an organisation that blends ethics, expertise, and cultural depth.

After lots of research, we booked the Manaslu Circuit trek with Base Camp Himalayas, and we’re so glad we did. The pre-trip experience has been smooth, informative, and personal — Petr clearly knows what he's doing and takes the time to get things right. He helped us fine-tune our gear list, suggested training tips, and explained what makes Manaslu such a unique and culturally rich trekking region. What impressed us most was the company’s ethical approach — our trek helps fund education and women’s health initiatives in remote villages. Highly recommend them if you're looking for a trek that’s not only breathtaking but also meaningful.

Excellent support before our Manaslu trek — ethical, organised and personal We’re booked on the Manaslu Circuit trek with Base Camp Himalayas, and even before we’ve landed in Nepal, we feel incredibly supported.Petr was amazing from the start — thoughtful, thorough, and genuinely interested in making sure our experience is the right fit for us. He answered endless questions, and gave honest advice about how to prepare, both physically and mentally. We were also drawn to the company’s mission — a portion of our booking supports education programs and women’s health in the Himalayan region, which gave the trip an added sense of purpose. We’re excited, ready, and incredibly glad we chose Base Camp Himalayas.
