We enjoyed a two night stay in a hot tub lodge overlooking the lake as a family of four (children aged 7 and 9) and our dog. It was lovely - the lodge was really clean, comfy, spacious and had everything we needed and we all loved the hot tub. Check in and out was really easy. The children liked the play area, play barn and animals although we'll have to come back in the summer to make more use of them as it was quite autumnal, dark and cold when we were there! We liked the location - felt rural enough whilst being close to amenities and we enjoyed a day out at the coast. We would definitely return. Thank you :-)
We have just returned from a weekend in the Pod 1. It was fabulous! The pod was brilliant, and had everything we needed.
It was a really easy check in! The pod was spotless and lovely and toasty!
I have two children aged 13 and 11, it afforded so much freedom for them, plenty to do, and the animals were the highlight! It is a great base for the North Yorkshire moors!
Thank you for a lovely stay! We will be back!
We have stayed at the farm maybe six times now and the location is superb. We did enjoy our stay very much but some simple factors would have upped it to a five star.
We were a family of 8 split into two lodges/pods. Over the years we have noticed the lodges dating which is inevitable. However, the noticeable lack of toiletries and lack of attention to the small things in the kitchen made me notice other aging qualities of the lodge.
I was cooking every meal for eight people so I needed another bin liner which I couldn’t find anywhere.
I also had to use a manky pan scrub for washing up as there were only enough dishwasher tablets for one wash per day. It would be nice to have a clean and fresh one available.
Similarly there was one soft wiping cloth that disintegrated after 3 days and again there were no spares.
The list would have been long to ask for all these things and would have been embarrassing.
We also had to buy more toilet rolls as we were obviously using too much for the allotted 2 rolls per bathroom.
The peace and quiet makes up for it but these things could easily be attended to, to make the guests feel more welcome.
Wi-Fi in the further lodges is also slim to none unless sitting outside.

Glad you enjoyed you 6th stay with us so we must be doing something correct.
Having visited previously would have thought you knew what to expect. In 20 years of running Barker Stakes this is the first criticism we have received for only providing one pan scrub and one cloth. A new pan scrub and cloth were provided at the start of your stay. I guess if you decide to cater for double the lodges occupancy then additional pressure will be put on the poor old pan scrub .
If 8 people are predominantly using a lodge for 4 then obviously additional toilet rolls will be required. We list the items provided in the frequently asked questions section.
Wifi in the lodges is generally pretty good however like many tech items occasionally they need a reboot sometimes people unplug the router and plug there own items in . If it was not working you could have contacted me and we could have fixed it . Again yours is the only review mentioning poor WiFi.
I guess you could have mentioned any of these things while staying but I guess its less embarrassing to put it in a review.

Having never stayed at a hot tub lodge before we chose barker stakes farm for its location having plenty of places of interest on its doorstep inc flamingo land , whitby , Thornton le Dale and pickering to name a few. Warm welcome from steve who showed us straight to our lodge which was ready for us with the key in the door.
Accommodation was fantastic , clean spacious and well equipped and in a beautiful waterside location we felt at home straight away .
The farm itself offers peaceful views , walks play and picnic areas and of course friendly animals to visit.
To sum it up a beautiful place , well ran by a lovely family . We loved it and we will be back ! 5 ⭐️
We have just returned from a couple of days at this amazing site and already cannot wait to return! We stayed in one of the glamping pods, it had absolutely everything we needed and was spotless! The animals around the site made this trip magical for our two children, they absolutely loved waking up to the chickens and pigs by our pod! The park and games barn was also a hit with our eldest! And with flamingo land only 5 minutes away the location was spot on! If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing break which is also suitable for children this is the one! Thank you for a wonderful stay :-)
