If you’re anything like me and you’ve made it this far to be looking at reviews for recovery and searching for a place, whether it’s you who’s reading this or a family member or friend, please read on. This review won’t land or be understood by everyone, but the hardest and most honest thing I’ve ever admitted to myself or anybody who cared about me was that I needed help and I couldn’t do it on my own. I was lost. I had never been to treatment or a recovery before. I was nervous, anxious, depressed and angry, but mostly I was just burnt out and numb. I had no idea what to expect, but the only thing I did know was that I had lost all control. I was in the darkness. I couldn’t recognize myself anymore and neither could the people who knew me. I felt hopeless. I had tried so many times to quit on my own and continued to find myself in the washing machine again and again… a never ending cycle of guilt, shame and frustration.

I stayed 30 days at Avila heights. I had a great experience and have learned a lot about myself and learned tools to stay sober. When I called the first person I spoke with was Will he was very helpful he made sure they accepted my insurance and had a bed open for me within a hour or 2. David’s was meant to help people all of us that were in there together felt the same way. He is detailed intelligent and listens the groups are like nothing I have ever experienced. The staff made me feel at home and I feel like they are family. I was in a very bad spot before and now I have a stronger relationship with my family and I can be the father my son deserves and I give a lot of the credit to my experience with everyone at Avila heights.

This program was so amazing! They have helped two of my close friends. The owner was absolutely amazing and her and her admission team actually helped one of my friends find a facility that was closer to his home and more at the level of care he needed. I’ve never heard of a facility helping find care outside of their own facility but the compassion they had was so amazing and they were just trying to help him out in the best way they could even if it wasn’t there facility specifically. With our other friend, the owner herself, helped with an intervention and was able to help get him into their program and it saved his life and saved his family. They do such amazing work here and I’m so thankful for them! I have also heard from others that the owner is able to help those in need and can help scholarship somebody so that they can get the care they need and the healing they deserve

I checked into Avila Heights in-patient recovery program after years of alcoholic relapses and two unsuccessful recovery attempts at other out patient programs. Avila Heights proved to be a safe, respectful, and compassionate environment with a caring staff. The staff is also trained and certified to administer the necessary medication to detox and treat specific needs. The facility boasts a wonderful chef who creates delicious, healthy dishes.
I appreciated all the different recovery strategies utilized: yoga, sound bowls, gym exercise, rewiring the brain, Dharma teaching, AA meetings, and field trips emphasizing the joys of nature - even arts, crafts, and sports (like table tennis and basketball). A therapist is also employed for the guests. The facility is intimate with only six beds nurturing open, honest, and vulnerable sharing at the group level. The main instructor for group studies is passionate about recovery and is currently seeking graduate level schooling in clinical mental health; he can relate to our experiences because he has overcome his own addiction for almost two decades. I would recommend this warm and inviting place to any family member or friend who is ready to unplug and focus on finally recovering from the grip of addiction.
