I found this facility while researching the best rehabs in the state of New jersey. I was contemplating on going to a few that I won't name because I don't want it to reflect badly while I do my review for Avatar. And thank God for my OCD-like behavior, because I damn near read through almost every review! Almost everyone has something good to say about their experience especially about the treatment you get from staff, the single private rooms which is an absolute come-up compared to 99% of treatment centers in America. You have the ability to use your phone for work-related reasons and to communicate with your family. I also run a business on the outside, and was given permission to use my laptop so I can coordinate with my employees. I'm so grateful I found Avatar because the other facility I was contemplating, they said I can maybe, and I repeat maybe, use it with my therapist and a different place that was willing to let me use both but wanted cash on top of them already charging my insurance. Avatar didn't do any of that!
The treatment and therapy sessions here are holistic and 12-step based. So they offer a lot of various groups you would see in Recovery on the street. They have H & I coming in every night and speaking to us which I found very inspiring and motivating. I've learned tools I've actually used during phone calls with my family and even some of my difficult employees I have to deal with. Huge thanks to Scott. He helped me greatly by keeping it real
The nursing staff here was absolutely exceptional! I want to give a huge shout-out to Dr. A who helped me get through my detox. I want to thank the nurses particularly Rebecca, and Steph. The techs watching over us were also A-1. Huge shout-out to Denise, Trina Donna, Alex, Gabby, Katie, Karen... I mean the entire staff is so good I know I'm forgetting names, but that just shows you the type of people that you deal with on a daily basis. I also want to give a shout-out to my boy Andrew for hookin' us up with a Real Barber that does his thing. He's got a hair stylist for the females and guys that have longer hair. He takes people to the nail salon and used to take us to activities by himself before his surgery. Avatar has such a good presence to it with Great Vibes that it rubs off on everyone! There's not really anything drastically bad you could possibly say about a place that cares about you and your treatment and is willing to go to any length, most of the time, further than the client is willing to go themselves! I'd like to thank the owner for opening up this business and running it the way he does. Pinal makes sure the client comes first and as long as it's reasonable, the clients needs can be met. I've only been to a few places, but like I've stated in the beginning, I'm very happy and grateful that I researched and found this place! Avatar is absolutely the only place I would ever refer a loved one or anyone reading this review!

Compared the other treatments i’ve been to, Avatar legitimately treats you like a human being not an insurance number or policy number and get treated based off payout. That’s what I was used to in Florida and some places in NJ.
The amenities here are the best I’ve ever seen. I got my own single private room with its own bathroom. The treatment here is specialized for each individual client and I get 1 on 1 therapy sessions with my therapist weekly. The food is amazing. If you don’t like what’s being served, you can just order whatever you want. They even decorate throughout the facility making Christmas feel like home!
By far the best decision I made coming to Avatar. I’m so happy I read the reviews because they are definitely NOT lying. I hope this helps anyone looking to come to a fantastic facility with the best caring staff around! Also, we get taken to activities weekly, haircuts every other week, and taken to get nails done. Lastly, a physical therapist and massages are offered. Come on…. Who’s beating this place???? Avatar ALL DAY!!!

I arrived at avatar after a bottom that was severe enough that I was willing to surrender. Thanks to the wonderful nurses and medical staff I had no problem getting the assistance I needed both mentally and physically. The groups were informative even for a person like me who has been to several rehabs. I listened and took their suggestions and began to feel better about myself each and every day. I ran myself into a place where I was spiritually empty and physically tired of being sick and tired. The staff and my therapist kept telling me to make groups and every time I listened to them I gained something new. My therapist also helped me organize my legal papers and make sure that I was doing what I was supposed to do. The food was amazing I’ve never been more grateful for such good food and have the amenities that they offer on a daily basis. Like massage and sound healing. The variety of tools for recovery that they offer was great. I feel I definitely gained tools to use for my next step. The panels that came in on a nightly basis gave me hope when I truly felt hopeless. I am so grateful to Steve, my therapist Giana and Karen, and the entire BHT staff for their caring and understanding help. They never force anything, they simply make suggestions. It was on me to follow those suggestions or not. I found that I could have fun and laugh again with my fellow clients we went to do things like see horses and natural walks. We even went out to the movies and had a great time. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is struggling with alcohol or drugs and mental illness. They do a great job at duel diagnosis. If you need help and are feeling overwhelmed or hopeless Avatar can be the answer for you to put you on the path that changes your life for the better. I learned that just because I’ve completed treatment I have to do daily work to keep my addiction arrested and one day at a time I never have to be alone again. Thank you Avatar!

After literally being at 3 separate detox/residential facilities such as Sunrise, RCA, and Enlightened (best out of the 3), but none of them compare to Avatar! Sunrise still has the same beds they bought when they first opened and have massive dents in the mattress with pillows that are flat or circular because they put them on high heat to dry. Admissions at Sunrise said they have a TV in bedrooms, but they went from cable to a fake Amazon Fire stick, where you can only watch Plex, Crackle, Tubi, or youtube. RCA was slightly better because the beds weren't as worn out and the furniture is at least newer. But that does not mean that its good furniture or good TVs being watched either! Enlightened Solutions had the best bed of the 3, but they went from having a 65in TV in your own single private room, to a 28in tv.
I say all this because most people that are going to rehabs nowadays, care about amenities more so than the treatment being offered. After coming to Avatar after all those places and slept on what felt was like a brand new bed and pillows that I would buy on the street for myself to use! Enlightened Solutions was the only other place other than Avatar that had majority single rooms, but you had to share a bathroom, where at Avatar, bathrooms are in your own private room! Most rooms have 50in TVs that come with cable and smart TV apps.
In order to survive in this type of industry, you have to offer people what other places don't or they start going bankrupt or down-sizing (like some of the places already mentioned)! I've read reviews where it says Avatar is a resort of a rehab just because of everything they offer their clients in between groups and once group is over. They invest in their program to make it as best as possible for each individualized client! Only a few places offer a brand new gym, basketball court, Buffet of food, snacks and drinks available 24/7! You would be surprised at how little was offered at the first 3 places I went to! Avatar even has a volleyball court, badminton, cornhole, and offer a holistic approach where reiki, yoga, and Equine Therapy is offered for people that relax better around animals. Avatar also allows service animals with proper documentation to come in and help the client while they are in treatment. If I had one for my little buddy of a cat that's declawed and used to living in the same house for over 10 years, I would have easily brought him. Before I forget, Avatar has video games there and allows you to bring your own video game console to play.
Also, at almost every other rehab, they LITERALLY serve the same type of terrible food. It's almost like the same company sells all the rehabs the same garbage food where at Avatar, they spend money on food and they have 4 different chefs that specialize in 4 separate cuisines and the food alone is a 5-star rating. Avatar can get you in to see a physical therapist and chiropractor that also have massages available to clients.
Treatment is comparable almost anywhere you go. You really get what you put into it! Of course there are some therapists that are better at communicating the recovery message than others and other therapists that relate to a clients suffering or mental health issues better, but are equally just as valuable. Avatar puts resources in making its treatment one of a kind. They want to have an everlasting effect on your Recovery like they did mine, and every single staff member plays their part in helping you recover! Most go above and beyond their job requirements! Also before I forget that most clients will appreciate, a guy there that you barely get to see because of all the running around Avatar has him doing, but he sets up haircuts for both males & females and takes clients to get their nails done. His name is Andrew if you're interested in those services!
Lastly, I never want to go back to rehab again, but if I had to, Avatar is the first and only place for me! No other rehab facility around here can compete!

Even coming through the admission process was very comforting, and made me feel at ease compared to other places I called. As soon as I arrived and did my intake process, the nurses were very nice, helpful, and took care of every one of my needs to help me get through my detox process. Once detox was completed, I was able to go out on activities like the movies, bowling, and an Equine therapy every Monday. Avatar has a big facility and a lot of outside games clients can play on their free time like basketball, a brand new weightlifting facility, corndog, volleyball, at this point, you should get the point lol.
The Therapy I received from the counselors here was very helpful. They taught me many tools that I can use to combat triggers or how to deal with toxic people in my life. I’m very grateful to all of them and will take everything they’ve taught me home and use it to the best of my ability to change my life to a productive, action-oriented life in recovery!
The food was also fantastic. As many other reviews have stated, it’s 5-star quality itself. You have the ability to get a single room usually after detox and that is something that I was very grateful for. Not having to share a bathroom or a room with somebody who’s not on top of their hygiene or is as clean as I am would’ve probably made me miserable anywhere I’ve went. So I’m very grateful for Avatar giving me my own private room where I don’t have to worry about anything being stolen or messy or the room smelling.
Thank you to everyone that Avatar that played a viral role in my treatment process. I’m very grateful to have come here and experience everything I have. If I ever had to go back to treatment, I wouldn’t consider any other place other than Avatar! I hope this review helps The next Future Avatar Client!

Really would recommend this place, I pent 4 weeks here and everything from cleaning staff, cooks, nurses and all other staff were fantastic really kind and knowledgeable. You are allowed creature confronts like having your phone and tv in your room.I also would recommend doing family day with Skip - he is a great guy and knows what he’s talking about. It is done twice a month on Saturdays.

I’ve been to several rehabs and there is nothing else out there that compares. Private spacious rooms with TVs, a gym and great food. The ability to have your phone so you can stay connected to family allows you to focus on recovery and your sobriety. I can’t say enough about the staff from the nurses to the techs. Steve who is in charge of client services truly cares and always makes sure you have what you need and are comfortable. I’ve never been treated so well while still learning what it takes to stay sober. The nursing staff is wonderful and always there when needed. This place has given me what no other program could—hope and the willingness to change.
