This is going to be a long but honest story. I think anyone honestly considering this place should read it because I am brutally honest. If you're looking for the bottom line: I was locked out from my keys, they felt horrible, brought me the car back, and gave me gift cards, and very, very clearly lost money on the inspection. They went beyond making it right. You can trust them.
I bought a car from VA, and I did not really know that you needed an MD inspection. I always thought there was a reciprocity for safety inspections and I was entirely wrong. I got turned down by three different places. One place my temp tags expired so I couldn't drive there the day I had it. Finally, I saw some reviews on Reddit for this place. I'll admit, my dad is a mechanic and I do a lot of work on my own cars; I don't really often visit mechanics. However, they were really nice and upfront and openly admitted that being a 2024, barring some crazy circumstance, the car would pass. It did. We arranged for me to pick it up; I'm a paramedic, my kid is crazy, and my days have been super full. I really appreciated this. Well, unfortunately upon arrival, which was a 35 minute one way trip, the key code I was given didn't work. There was no way to access the key, I left my spare at home, and the machine was getting very angry at attempts. Defeated and very upset I went home. I tried to take a breath but I had to make a lot of arrangements and stuff a VERY angry child in a car to make it happen. My wife had work. I couldn't do it again.
I reached out and they admitted they had accidentally entered the wrong code. They stated how horrible they felt and offered to either drive me down or attempt to drive the car up. Although i didnt want to incovience them, I also really had no way of getting down there as I was watching my kid. I chose the option of them bringing the car. They said okay and assured me they would set it up. They did, and the car arrived later that day. The gentleman (Daniel I believe? I have a horrible memory though so please forgive me!) not only apologized again but handed me 2 $25 gift cards. Let me be clear. The inspection was 149. Given the drive up, the loss of manpower hours, and the gift cards, they likely made absolutely nothing on that inspection but it was just that important to make it right.
Was it perfect? No. Would any other repair shop have told me to pound sand? Absolutely. It was not a perfect experience but also, as far as I could tell, they weren't aliens. They were humans. We all make mistakes at one point in our life. Everyone. Someone was tired and accidentally entered the wrong code. It happens. The difference is to make it right, they were willing to take the L beyond an L. Bringing the car as was enough, but the gift cards were beyond service. If there were future work I couldn't do on my own car, I would *still* come to this shop. I drove the gentleman who brought the car up to a nearby gas station because it was like 100 degrees out and I literally couldn't let him walk up there. He told me that he again apologized and it was very important to them that they own up and make things right when thibgs go wrong.
This is an incredibly honest and trust worthy shop. There was no BS and customer service is a top priority for them. My sister and BIL need some work on their car. I recommended this shop. They are truly one of the good ones.
