Outstanding, Supportive, and Life-Changing Help How very easy it was to to speak to a real person. I was quite tentative in making the first call as we have never applied for any kind of help or benefit. The reassurance from this first call about Attendance Allowance for my husband was very helpful Following this first conversation I was then contacted by Lisa , an Occupational Therapist who carefully and patiently explained the procedure , asked about my husbands health issues and completed the many pages of the form. Quite by chance I mentioned my own health issues and difficulties whilst helping and taking care of my husband .On learning of them she suggested that I should also apply for Attendance Allowance .Lisa completed my application and I am sure without the help and guidance of this profesional lady I doubt that I would have applied for myself. I am so pleased to say we have both been awarded the full amount every week.This will make such a difference to our peace of mind knowing we can now afford some additional help when needed , pay the next bill or even have the occasional treat. A sevice with a difference This was an experience i will never forget with Alex at Attendance Allowance Services. She took her time with me to ensure I told her all the problems I face, always explaining what would happen, repeating and going over my experiences with no rush or hassle. I felt I had finally found someone who listened and took notice. I did not feel I was being dismissed because of my age, like so many other nhs departments. I don't think there are any improvements that could be made. The time spent with her was encouraging, heartening and supportive. I would totally recommend the people I spoke with to anyone else who is going through similar problems. And at the end of the day if social services scotland accepts your disabilities, the price paid is a drop in the ocean, compared to being able to access ( and pay for) items that will make my life easier such as rails, grab bars and an assistant. Thank you so much for all you did.
