I had shoulder surgery in October which left me unable to fully use both arms for a couple of weeks. Assisting Hands Arlington provided 24-hour in home care for the first 3 days and then 8 hours a day for the remaining 14 days. I am normally modest, but they made the bathing and other bathroom care effortless. In addition to that personal care, they made some wonderful breakfasts and lunches. There were several wonderful caretakers, but Rebecca and Carmen were standouts and both extremely pleasant and easy to be around. Rebecca even accompanied me to my 7-day post-op doctor visit. Their care made possible my mobility after only 2+ weeks. I am not looking forward to more surgery but if I need any more, I know where to go for in-home assistance.
My family relied on Assisting Hands for well over a year to help our loved one navigate memory loss. The team was extremely reliable on scheduling, selecting excellent caregiver matches for our family member, and remarkably flexible (as possible) for emergencies and shifting needs. It is clear they care about their mission and consistently show up when and how it counts.

Assisting Hands has the MOST AMAZING staff of caregivers you could ever hope to have to care for your loved ones. They are extremely picky and hire only the BEST! They took care of my Mom when she was dying of cancer and they did the most amazing job - they truly exceeded all expectations we had! They are currently taking care of my father 24/7 - and again - just the most amazing wonderful, caretakers you could ever ask for.
DO NOT HESITATE to contact them - you will be so happy that you did!

Maureen--Thank you for the opportunity to help your family through a difficult time and for sharing your experience working with us. We love hearing that we exceeded your expectations!
It''s not easy relying on others to take care of a loved one, but after a couple falls last year our Mom lost a lot of her mobility and independence, and we needed someone to be with her full time. Our family was so lucky to find Assisting Hands.
Brett Sanders came over to our Mom's apartment with a nurse who helped evaluate her needs, and together we came up with a set of guidelines for care that made our Mom and us happy. Over time her mobility improved to the point where we could cut back care to four days a week, and Assisting Hands worked with us to make the transition as seamless as possible. Brett has always been there to make sure her care is first rate.
We are especially grateful to Lidia, our Mom's main caregiver over these last nine months. She anticipates her needs, gives her space when she needs it, responds quickly when asked for help, and takes her on regular walks up and down the long hallways to keep her strong. Just as important, she is an unfailingly upbeat, sweet and compassionate companion to our Mom. Lidia has been a godsend to her – and to our family. As has Assisting Hands. We are so grateful knowing they are there to help her when we can't. Thank you!

I have had two assistants from Assisting Hands. The first one worked for me for over a year. Assia E is now helping me . She is a real treasure! Other than severe back pain all of my disabilities do not “show “. She is so kind , funny and loves my dog!
She is also very stylish!

Brett,
I wish to thank you for your immediate response to supporting my mother when we realized that we needed additional support.
You dispatched Yewbnesh to our home the very next morning and she was Godsent from day one! Initially, I thought we might have scared her the first day with all of the visitors including the nieces, the nephew and the goddaughter. Yewbnesh became accustomed to all the family and friend visits. Everyone felt as if she was one of the family in such a short period of time!
Brett, she is a very special lady and deserves the highest of recommendations. Mom told me one day how much she loved Yewbnesh and another day said, “she knows what she is doing” – which is a high compliment from an elder.
Thank you so very much from our entire family!

This past Fall I had to have two surgeries to deal with a serious infection in my right leg. I spent three+ weeks in Inova Fairfax Hospital recovering from the procedures and undergoing PT and RT. When I returned home, I wasn't able to navigate the stairs in my home or fully care for myself (a fall risk). My family reached out to Assisting Hands Home Care and I am grateful that they did. My PT has recently ended and while I'm not moving like my old self (What do they say in the sports world? He's lost a step.), I am getting around the house with the use of a cane, going up and down the stairs and taking care of meals and chores. The caregivers assigned to me were professional, truly caring and integral to my recovery. They even nudged me along, when necessary, to be sure I did my PT exercises and care routines. I recommend them without reservation. I hope you don't need such assistance. But if you do, you'll be in "good hands" with Assisting Hands".

When my Mom was discharged from the rehabilitation center almost 10 months ago, it became clear to our family that in order for her to remain safely in her home she would need assistance with meal preparation, bathing, dressing and household tasks.
When I called Brett Sanders Owner/Administrator of Assisting Hands Home Care- he was positive and supportive and assured me that his agency would be able to assign caregivers to assist my Mom who has memory issues and declining mobility. The caregivers assigned to my Mom are all compassionate, competent and professional. The caregivers do a wonderful job following the plan of care that has been customized specifically for my Mom.
Communication with all staff at Assisting Hands has been top notch. Any questions and requests I have made have always been answered professionally and in a very timely manner.
This past weekend when there was a winter storm, the staff communicated and implemented a safe plan of care for my Mom and caregiver. My Mom and family are grateful to the staff of Assisting Hands who keep her safe, well cared for and happy in her beloved home each and every day.

We were very grateful to have Assisting Hands support my dad during his final months while he suffered from Alzheimer’s. The caregivers were outstanding. They conversed with him and spent time doing activities he enjoyed, such as “painting” and daily excursions, weather permitting. They kept him safe and, most importantly, allowed us to keep him home in familiar surroundings which is where he wanted to be.
We could not have asked for a better care team.

We came to Assisting Hands in need of both care for my aging father who was frail with increasing dementia, and respite care my mother who was exhausted from being the primary caregiver for several years. Selfishly, I needed to know someone was there for the next time Dad needed help or Mom slipped and fell. What we received has been supportive beyond what I could have imagined. Brett and his skilled team provide assistance, reassurance and truly heartfelt care. Our caregiver and the team helped maintain the best possible quality of life for the end of Dad's life, including over weekends and evenings during the inevitable crises. They were immediately on hand when Dad passed to help with all my questions and to support the entire family, and now, as my Mom transitions into her next chapter, they’ve been by our side. Our caregiver transitioned seamlessly as needs changed. The team provides honest and helpful advice for any questions I have. Our caregiver is completely reliable, kind, patient and genuine. I went from daily fears of getting the “we’re on the way to the ER” call to the relief of knowing that my parents were in safe hands. Just as important, I no longer feel as if I’m going through this process alone. Working with Assisting Hands has been life changing. I give them my highest possible recommendation.

No one ever plans for an emergency trip to the ER, but there we were with my elderly father. After he was admitted for a couple of days, we needed in-home care for him to be discharged. Assisting Hands Home Care was recommended by a colleague who works for an AHHC location in a different State. Within minutes, we were talking with the owner of a local office, and they had someone scheduled to stay with my father within a couple of hours! This included round-the-clock assistance for the first few days.
As we have continued to use Assisting Hands, I have been relieved by the services they offer. This isn't just sitting at the house with my dad; a couple of days ago, the aid came with us to a doctor's appointment so I could just drop them off at the lobby and go park the car without worrying about my dad wandering off. The aide stayed with him. Then, as we were heading home, I asked my dad about laundry (oh, do I have to do that, too?) and my dad said, "Oh, Pat did some laundry for me, I'm all set." I truly felt a small weight lift off my shoulders. There's still a lot to do, but here is someone who is helping not only my father, but helping me as well.
I highly recommend working with Assisting Hands Home Care. This is specifically for the Arlington location which covers much, if not all, of Northern Virginia. I know from our original reference that other offices also have a culture of care and patience!

I was referred by a professional care manager to Assisting Hands for home care after I lost the use of a leg to nerve damage and became an extreme fall risk. Assisting Hands had an aide in my home within a few hours and have been supporting me with wonderful people ever since. The aides are knowledgeable and eager to help this 81-year old. They have made my life at home both easy and safe and have also helped me make doctor's visits, etc. My profound thanks to Brett, Kimberly, Martha, and all the other wonderful folks at Assisting Hands for making it possible for me to go through this prolonged recovery in my own home.

I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Brett Sanders and his company, Assisting Hands Home Care, for the wonderful care they provided my husband while he was at the Jefferson. Since my husband was considered a serious fall risk, Assisting Hands provided sitters who stayed with him at night and sometimes during the day. All the sitters were dependable, kind, caring, respectful, professional, and compassionate. My husband enjoyed talking with them for long hours. Brett and his staff never failed to call or follow up on any questions that I had.
Shortly after leaving the Jefferson, my husband passed away. After months of trying to get reimbursed from my husband's Long Term Care Health Insurance company for the money I paid Assisting Hands for their services, I was notified that I needed additional information added to the billing statements that I provided them. Even though I was no longer using Brett's services and there was no financial gain for him, he kindly sent me the information that I needed. Shortly afterwards, the Insurance company called him multiple times to ask him questions. He called them back each time. I truly appreciate his kind help .
Brett Sanders is a kind, compassionate, and honorable man. He hires good people . He truly wants to provide the best service to our loved ones and their families. Assisting Hands provided wonderful care for my husband. I highly recommend them! Your loved ones will be well cared for and safe in their hands.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care provided by Assisting Hands are service. From first contact with Brett Sanders, the service owner, to each member of the care team, they demonstrated unwavering compassion, professionalism, and dedication.
Caregivers were always here on time each shift. They were not just attentive; they anticipated my needs. Their ability to manage mobility challenges and personal care needs was impressive. I always felt safe, comfortable, and treated with dignity.

Assisting Hands of Arlington came to my rescue during one of the most difficult periods of my life - handling my husband's lengthy recuperation from major surgery as well as his descent into dementia. I thought I could handle it all but soon discovered that I could not.. There weren't enough hours in the day and I could neither leave him alone or take him with me everywhere because he was too ill. I only wish I had discovered Brett Sanders and asked him and his remarkable team for help months earlier..The caregiver he sent, Gladys Morales, was professional and compassionate..She helped not only with the never- ending ADLs, especially batting and dressing, but filled his days with interesting conversations, word games, exercise and great food. (She loved to cook as well as nurse.) She helped me with grocery shopping, light housework and with transportation to seemingly never-ending medical appointments which required an extra set of hands to unload the patient as well as his walker. Brett's nursing /advisor, LuAnn Weber, checked in periodically, made adjustments and brought in wound care nurse, Eileen Braunlich, who quickly resolved a post-op surgical issue that a doctor hadn't. .There was ALWAYS someone on call to answer questions.
There really aren't enough words to express how grateful I am to Brett and Assisting Hands for their understanding and help. They are simply terrific. . Patricia Rogers, Alexandria, VA
