What a wonderful oil painting class! It was my first time painting with this medium and the instructor was so kind and so fun! I actually made a nice painting! I will definitely look for more classes and come again.

Took an oil painting class at the Arts Center with Steve Duprey. This was my first time doing this. I felt very welcomed and learned a lot. Everybody is super friendly and it is a very nice facility.

I’ve taken two pencil drawing lessons and learned a greater appreciation of just pausing and noticing the colors that blend in nature with Pat’s classes. I’ve also taken zentangle classes with Nancy which raises geometric doodling to a soothing art form. Both excellent, both different. Art is for everyone!

This review is specific to a 3-day Plein Air Workshop being taught by Kevin Feary - which was offered thru the Arts Center of Yates County. Kevin offers these workshops multiple times a year. The photos I'm included are from the August workshop. Locations are three different beautiful views - all located in NYs Finger Lakes Region. A vineyard - a historical home on one of the Finger Lakes - and then the artist retreat location on Keuka Lake. All I can say - I will be back!!!!

I am thrilled the Arts Center of Yates County was able to book Elizabeth St.Hilaire again. Elizabeth St.Hilaire consistently offers outstanding art workshops. Her passion, experience, and skill (combined with her ability to create a true sense of community) are remarkable. You not only learn a great deal in a supportive environment, but you also have a wonderful time doing so. She is inspiring, talented, and an absolute joy to learn from. This was my third workshop with her, and I’m already looking forward to the next one.

The instructor was knowledgeable, organized and clear. She was warm and approachable. I was a bit intimidated by the idea of creating an abstract painting on a large, for me, area. She helped me get started and to make use of color theory and composition. I was “in the zone “ in no time. The space was comfortable, well lit and had tons of supplies.i will be back !

The Art Center of Yates County is one of Penn Yan’s hidden gems. The gallery is beautifully lit and welcoming. Even more so is the workshop room upstairs. It is a wonderful space for artists to come together for learning, community and becoming inspired. I’m glad I tried one out and I cannot wait to do more!

The finished art on the sale/show floor were so beautiful and the vault where the jewelry is, is so cool. Prices are fair, very clean, sort of small but just enough for that size
