I highly recommend the Intro to Mountaineering course! I researched many options before deciding on American Mountain School. Other courses only offer two days but American Mountain School's three day course was the perfect amount of time--two days to learn skills and one day to put it all into practice. Aleks was very attentive to the individual needs of his students. We had different backgrounds and skill levels but he accommodated everyone equally. My fingers and toes get very cold so Aleks made sure I had the best gear to keep me warm in the snow and wind. I look forward to more courses and perhaps an expedition with American Mountain School! Aleks is the real deal!

Alex is a highly recommended guide. He prepared us comprehensively before our summit of the 14er Mount Massive near Leadville. His articulate and helpful communication assisted us in being completely prepared for the event and on the day of we knocked it out in less than eight hours. I had always wanted to climb Longs Peak but as the date of the climb approached, I found myself getting more and more worried about striking out on my own (my usual climbing partner is afraid of heights and said "no thanks" to this one)--especially since I don't get to climb mountains much. I booked a guide last minute and it was a great choice: it let me look forward to the trip with pleasure instead of apprehension. Alex recommended an earlier start time than I'd intended, and that recommendation definitely turned out to be a good one. He was a great guide for me because he was there to offer support if I needed it but was also willing to let me climb by myself so long as I could do it safely. In addition, he took so many great photos of my ascent; I hadn't really thought about that benefit, but I wouldn't have gotten any photos of myself or maybe just one at the top. I'm so glad to have the photos, and my child loves looking at them and even showing them to his friends!

The path has been adjusted based on the skills level and individual preferences. Extremely happy with organization, attention to details, safety procedures, and encouraging attitude.

Alexandr taught me roped climbing, cramponing, ice-axe skills, self-arrest, what to do in case of an avalanche, how to get myself out if I fall through an ice crack, helped me shop for gear, and more. We also climbed a glaciated peak in the Rocky Mountains. Alexandr was very organized, knowledgeable, and matched my pace when we climbed. The training exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend him and will hire Alexandr again in the near future.

For the first time in my life I climbed the rocky mountain. It was The Second Flatiron in Boulder area along the Freeway route. It was a bit scary, but Alexander as a guide made every effort so that I would not be afraid and would feel free and confident. When we reached the summit I had an amazing feeling from the work done and I gave it my all. Thanks to Alexander for a safe and wonderful climb. Hope to climb with you again!
