My family had the pleasure of a hike up the Inca Trail (1 day hike) from Km 104 to Machu Picchu. Elistan was a tremendous guide. Friendly and funny he was engaging from the first moment he met us at our hotel in the Sacred Valley.On the hike he shared his knowledge of the local flora and fauna, animals, and pointed out many things we would have not noticed on the route.When we toured Machu Picchu the next day Elistan shared his encyclopedic knowledge of the history which we fascinating. The site speaks for itself but understanding it in a somewhat deeper way made for a much more fulfilling visit.We could not have asked for a better experience! We booked the day trip to rainbow mountain and Elistan took care of everything. The trip was well planned, the sites were beautiful and the lunch was amazing. Some of the best food we had the entire trip. We also booked the Inca trail 4 days and 3 nights. The entire trip was amazing. It was the most incredible adventure I have ever been on. Elistan and his crew are the best on the entire trail. We had the best service, best camp sites and best food. The crew always had our campsite ready for us when we arrived. Inca trail + Machu Picchu
With ALLYN PACHA you’re given what you were promised (which is not always obvious with other companies). Elistan knows everything about the Inka culture and the Inka trail. There’s no question he couldn’t answer and would be sincere if something wasn’t dating back to XV century (e.g fountain inside Machu Picchu). Very professional and funny at the same time. He knew the best spots for pictures, and rest. He also advised the best time to take the bus in order to avoid the immense queue. I had a lot of fun and discovered a lot about Machu Picchu history. The hike was challenging, but Elistan does such a phenomenal job of balancing hiking and break time. Now, let me tell you about the food. I was blown away with the gourmet meals they were able to prepare for us atop a mountain! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in between were all SUCH a treat! I’m a shower loving girl and I was worried how I was going to make it 3 nights without a shower. The warm water and washcloths made me feel refreshed each day. That was a nice surprise! The views and beauty you experience at every turn on this hike cannot be captured by a photo! You truly must come to experience with your own eyes. Also, you MUST book with the best guide out there… Elistan at Allyn Pacha. We have made a lifelong friend in him. He and his family are world class. Book the trip! You won’t regret it!
Adventure of a Lifetime
If you’re planning to go to Peru then stop looking for a tour guide and book your trip with Elistan at Allyn Pacha. My wife and I have traveled quite a bit throughout the US and several other countries. I don’t think we’ve ever come across anyone as kind and hospitable as Elistan. From the moment we met him it was very clear that his main goal was to make our trip as enjoyable as possible. We booked the four day Incan Trail with Elistan. The day before we departed for our hike on the Incan Trail we visited Rainbow Mountain, which was beautiful. It was a fairly long and bumpy drive to and from Rainbow Mountain but we thought it was worth it. Hiking the trail was pretty demanding physically for our group (3 couples in our late 30s to early 40s). Make sure you are in decent shape before you come. Elistan did a wonderful job of making sure we pushed ourselves, but kept us from pushing ourselves to the point of exhaustion. Each day of the hike was a bit different and the views we were rewarded with were amazing. Finishing the 4 day journey at Machu Pichu was the perfect way to end a once in a lifetime adventure. Elistan and his team of porters did a wonderful job keeping us comfortable at our campsites and kept our bellies full with delicious meals every day—it was really amazing the meals that they were able to prepare for us considering they had to haul all of our food and the camp kitchen on their backs every night. Elistan was already doing an amazing job of taking care of us but went even further above and beyond when my wife and I learned on the last night that our son, who was staying with grandparents back home in the USA, had developed appendicitis and needed emergency surgery. Elistan worked tirelessly that evening to help us find a way to get home faster and held our hands as we prayed for our son that night while he was in surgery thousands of miles away. Thankfully, our son did very well with surgery. With 4 wonderful grandparents and a team of friends back home watching over him we decided to go ahead and finish the hike. We spent our last day enjoying Machu Pichu, a wonderful lunch in Aguas Calientes and then a train and bus ride back to the beautiful city of Cuscos to rest and enjoy a hot shower (feels amazing after 4 days hiking on the trail) before heading home to the states. I would definitely rate Elistan and his team a 10/10 and would strongly encourage you to book your trip with him today before someone else does. It’s an experience few will be fortunate enough to have and one you will never forget.

This trip and trek was an experience I will never forget. It was incredible. Elistan was the man, and quickly became someone I’m glad to be able to have spent such an incredible trip with. He’s intelligent, kind, and really cares about the people he works with. Elistan was someone that people were always happy to see on the trail as it seemed a lot of people knew the kind of person he was. This hike had me a bit nervous in time leading up to the hike, but with the calming experience of Elistan and his crews top notch service we not only completed but enjoyed every second of the hike. The 5 star meals along the way at 14000 ft are another story. Certainly wish I could eat the meals that this teams chef provided 3 times a day. I also had to be very careful during the hike because I had an engagement ring in my pack! I told Elistan about my intentions in very short notice. We discretely came up with a game plan, and I proposed at the Sun Gate. Elistan was incredible and the team in its entirety is the real reason my brand new Fiancé and I had so much fun. If you are planning a trip and want to make some memories you will have forever please take my word for it and just do it with this team. I promise you won’t forget it.

Our decision to book our tours with Eli through Allyn Pacha was the best choice we have ever made while traveling. This decision made our entire experience in Peru absolutely unforgettable. From the beginning research phase, Eli was extremely responsive, answering any and all questions and offering suggestions to make the most of our itinerary and time in Peru. We (my fiance and I) ended up spending 6 days in total with Eli, touring the Sacred Valley, going on a city ruins tour around Cusco, and embarking on the 4-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Eli is extremely knowledgable, funny, kind-hearted, and genuinely cares about offering amazing experiences. He has worked 20 years in the industry, and knows the ins and outs of not just history and site-seeing, but how to make experiences the most enjoyable for his guests. The service Eli provided to us on the Inca Trail was above and beyond what we saw other companies offering. We signed up for a private tour, and Eli, his chef, and team of porters took excellent care of us. Porters play an important roll on the trail, carrying food, cooking materials, sleeping tents, eating tents, and anything used on the trail. They carry heavy bags daily to ensure the guests experience is nothing short of amazing. In other companies, it is known that porters are not always treated well, or compensated fairly. It was seen that Eli takes excellent care of his porters. He noted that he was once a porter, and understands how hard they work. He makes sure they feel like an equal part of the team. Multiple times throughout the trek, porters from other companies would greet and talk to Eli. Most porters work for more than one company at a time, and many asked Eli when they could come work for him next. This to me just proves how Eli's service is phenomenal not only for his guests, but his staff as well. Before the trek, I had some nerves about how difficult it would be to complete. Eli provided me constant reassurance and explained how each day would look. We had plenty of breaks, and walked at a comfortable pace. Being just the two of us, we had complete control of our speed, and were able to slow down or speed up when needed. Additionally, Eli even helped my fiance in surprising me with a proposal at the Sun Gate! He kept the secret for the entire trek, and they secretly planned the proposal without me suspecting a thing. I cannot recommend Eli with Allyn Pacha enough. If you are looking for a small group, individualized experience, please give Allyn Pacha a chance. You will not be disappointed!
The BEST Guide
Wow, I can't say enough great things about Allyn Pacha. Our guide, Elistan, was loaded with knowledge about the areas we visited, history, and culture. He was extremely fun to be around the couple days we toured the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Had it not been for him, we would not have been able to visit Machu Picchu due to our last minute planning. I am beyond thankful for their expertise and guidance on this trip. Unforgettable Trek through the Andes to Machu Picchu
This trek and tour of Machu Picchu was fantastic! Juan was very flexible, accommodated all of our requests, and provided a well-planned, seamless itinerary. He was very friendly, and the five of us shared many laughs along the trail. Each night he organized for us to stay with a local family, allowing us to experience the local culture and customs. At Machu Picchu Juan knew where to be and when so that we could best-experience the UNESCO site, and had endless knowledge to tap into. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Eli the man who knows everything
Eli is super amazing and knowledgeable. I wanted to do a Machu Picchu train tour and he was able to find tickets where as everywhere else I went told me it was sold out and the next available is a week later. He arranged a driver to pick me up from the hotel at 4 AM, got to the train station at 5:40 am and provided a cute box breakfast. The next day after the Machu Picchu tour I wanted to see alpacas and llamas, He was able to accommodate me on my last minute trip! He’s your go to guy if you ever need anything or last minute planning. He knows everyone in Peru from the ticket lady in Machu Picchu to random tour guides from other companies, to restaurants waiters, to alpacas.
un dia perfecto en las montañas de los siete colores
Fuimos con Elistan de excursión de un día a visitar las montañas de los 7 colores mi mujer y yo en nuestra luna de miel, todo salió perfecto. Elistan nos recomendó madrugar mucho para poder disfrutar nosotros solos de las montañas, conocía perfectamente la zona y la situación meteorológica, así que en la madrugada pasó a recogernos con un conductor y un coche privado (para nosotros 4), llegó 10 minutos antes de la hora para esperarnos en la puerta, y nos dió una almohada a cada uno, dos mantas y dos cajas con el desayuno, para que durmiésemos durante el trayecto y desayunásemos al llegar al destino. Una vez allí desayunamos mientras comenzaba a clarear y subimos siguiendo sus consejos sobre la altura y el rendimiento físico. Disfrutamos casi dos horas de las montañas en exclusiva para nosotros y nos explicó muchas cosas. Después fuimos a comer a un restaurante que conocía, era tipo buffet pero de calidad. Por la tarde de camino a Cusco, nos iba explicando todo aquello que queríamos saber, y paramos en una panadería riquísima donde compramos una hogaza de pan relleno de chocolate por 9 soles (2'5€) y nos regalaron pan y agua. Finalmente nos dejó en el hotel. Es muy recomendable, fue como dar una vuelta con dos amigos, ojalá podamos volver a Perú para repetir. PD: sabe de fotografía, las fotos que subo nos las hizo él.

One day Ince Trail - DO IT, it's absolutely amazing!!
I'd heard about the Inca Trail, wanted to do it, but didn't have the four days needed for it...and then I stumbled across the one day option that Allyn Pacha offers, and I'm so glad that I did. The last 7.5 miles of the trek are stunning, and coming to Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate was nothing short of magical. Initially I'd been a little worried about being the only person on the trek...what if the guide was awkward and I was stuck with them ALL day?!...but Eli is the BEST. He's funny, sweet, engaging, and so knowledgable. Was able to answer every question I had, he is a wealth of information. We hiked on a day when there was a lot of mist, and he was like a mist ninja - knew exactly when and where to wait, for how long, so that I could see all the sights and get all the pictures that one dreams of when going on this journey. This is going to sound cheesy, but - it was truly an experience of a lifetime.
