Extremely unprofessional experience - avoid Kimi
I made my appointment by phone, and at no point during the call was I informed which hairstylist would be assigned to me. Only after I arrived did I find out that I was randomly assigned to Kimi.
She clearly lacks experience and basic technique. More importantly, she does not understand what clients want. I showed her multiple reference photos and explained in detail for a long time, yet she completely ignored them and ruined my hair with a result that looks nothing like what I asked for.
During the appointment, she walked away without saying anything multiple times, then brought over other hairstylists to “fix” my hair. She kept calling different hairstylists, contradicting herself, and appeared completely confused. What was supposed to take 30-40 minutes ended up taking over an hour, wasting my time and making the whole process extremely uncomfortable.
Honestly, I don’t even know what hairstyles she actually can do. She is, without exaggeration, the worst hairstylist I have ever encountered in Vancouver. I'll never go back.
To make matters worse, at checkout I was told that there is an extra fee for paying by credit card. When I said this was the first time I had ever seen a salon charge customers a credit card fee, Kimi responded with, “So? You want debit?” - incredibly rude and unprofessional.
I strongly do NOT recommend this salon, especially if you are assigned to Kimi. The lack of skill, professionalism, respect for customers, and transparency is unacceptable.
I didn’t have a good experience here my hair looks so bad.
I Booked a few days ago with a male stylist (will leave name anonymous). I asked to keep length and remove dead ends + Long layers starting around my collarbone. This is my usual hair cut so I don’t usually bring pictures because it is simple. We agreed.
Then after the hair wash the stylist said he wanted to cut curtain bangs. I told him I’m very low maintenance and don’t want to have to do any styling. He said he would cut them longer and it would look really good without styling needed. I trusted him because he is a professional.
Well it looked good when I walked out of salon.
But here’s what they look like after wash and air dry with hair pulled back in claw clip (my usual style).
It looks so bad like I let a kid cut my bangs at home. Or almost like I lost a bet and the consequence was to get an ugly hair cut.
Now I have to wait until they grow out since they won’t stay tucked behind my ear or in a ponytail. In the meantime I’m going to buy bobby pins to pin my hair back. I’m also having to wash my hair more often it feels oily. I guess the short bangs are collecting oil. So much for low maintenance.
I can’t even pull my hair back to hide the bad cut.
In short, I don’t doubt my stylist has skills but he could spend more time listening to the client and understanding my natural hair texture unstyled.
I suggest to bring pictures as well in case of language barrier and to stick with your gut, do not trust his opinion.

I got my haircut done by Kimi at Air Nova Hair Salon, and she was absolutely amazing! She really listened to what I wanted and gave me the perfect style that suits my face shape. She was so gentle, friendly, and made the whole experience relaxing. I’m so happy with how my hair turned out. It feels fresh, light, and beautifully done. Highly recommend Kimi.

I've been going to Wendy for a while now and I'm always so happy with how she cuts my hair and bangs! She's also coloured my hair once and it was exactly what I wanted. Wendy is so sweet and very knowledgeable - always sharing tips and tricks for trying at home. Would highly recommend!!
