Flying a spitfire was number 1 at the top of my bucket list. Being terminally ill, I was desperate to do this while I was fit enough. The staff, air support crew and pilot were fantastic! A Brilliant Opportunity to Fly in the Iconic Spitfire.
I heard that Aero Legends were flying Spitfires only an hour or so from home at Compton Abbas and decided to try to book a flight. The website is very straightforward and interesting to browse and although my first booking was cancelled due to operational difficulties, a second one was offered for a short time later. On the day, it was very well organised, the briefings were interesting and the aircraft was immaculate. Good on-site facilities made the wait for my flight time a pleasure, watching aircraft come and go and enjoying coffee in the excellent cafe. The flight was incredible, what power and grace the Spitfire has and accelerating down the grass runway was breathtaking. There was a long briefing beforehand and another at the cockpit to go through all the knobs and levers and what to do in an emergency. Every second was educational and enjoyable. The cloud base was quite low so we cruised at 1,000ft and 240mph and did a couple of steep banked turns over Corfe Castle and Poole Harbour and the time went very quickly. I was in touch with the pilot via a modern intercom and he suggested I take the controls for the return flight and wow, I've piloted a Spitfire! It was incredibly responsive and only took a touch to climb or dive or to bank left and right. When he took over again, we did a full loop and a victory roll over the airfield to round things off. Just Brilliant.

Just WOW!!!
The flight in a Spitfire was a "big" birthday present for my husband. He rates is a huge "wow" and is still buzzing a week after it. The first time we came to North Weald, the flight was delayed then cancelled due to bad weather. RE booking was straightforward. He was in the cockpit gain and the rain came down, but fortunately the storm clouds cleared and up he went. He absolutely loved it. Massive thank you to all the team, Laura who welcomed us, Charlie Brown the pilot who shares his love of classic cars with my husband, Paul, Kim and Peter, the ground crew who ensured all was well. An unforgettable day.

Spitfire Experience at North Weald Airfield
I had the most wonderful experience flying in a Spitfire with Aero Legends at North Weald Airfield. The team were amazing across the board, both helpful and very friendly and welcoming. A great person on the telephone chatted through what to expect on the day, and gave me very helpful advice. The check-in and briefing before the flight was very informative, and again just so friendly and welcoming, and was given with such good knowledge, and delivered in such a nice way. Then for the flight, the ground crew were fantastic - they safely secured me into the aircraft with loads of important instructions, and they were wonderful with helping my family with taking photographs, and generally looking after them whilst I was flying. The pilot absolutely completed this wonderful team - A fantastic pilot, who made the experience mine - again, so friendly, and wow, what amazing skill. I will never forget this great experience, and if you fancy such an experience, I would thoroughly recommend Aero Legends.

We arrived at Headcorn on the 14/9/23 a beautiful sunny day It was airless as the wind socks just hung vertically.
Met by Jane in dispersal she signed us in set up our video briefing and when complete we were booted and suited ready for flying.
We arranged with Jane a further flight in a Harvard that would fly in formation with the spitfire this would allow us to take such memorable films, I would fly along side my wife and another party member would fly along side me.
We met Richard Ward pilot of the Harvard who explained the flight detail and then met Anthony Parkinson the spitfire pilot who completed the flight plan of the spitfire.
I went up first in the Harvard and awaited the arrival of my wife in the spitfire, words cannot explain the feeling, the rush, the excitement as the spitfire cruised up along side almost what seemed like touching distance, I took some great video footage which we will both treasure for the rest of our lives.
My wife flew off to do her sortie and Richard took me through victory rolls and loops in the Harvard ( Brilliant ) when we landed I said to Richard ( wow how do you beat that ) he replied you will when you get in the spitfire later, how right he was.
I took off with Parky as he likes to be called at 14:00 hrs and met up with the Harvard we flew in formation banking from side to side eventually flying off to complete our sortie we flew to the White Cliffs of Dover and over the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel-Le-Ferne, you cannot help but think of the pilots in WW2 who flew in these planes in the very airspace we now occupied.
We completed barrel rolls and then Parky let me take control of the spitfire and I completed some banking manoeuvres, I was asked do you want to do a loop? (YES Please ) I will never be able to explain the experience words cannot do it justice and arriving all to soon back over the airfield we completed the sortie with a victory roll,
What a day I flew in a SPITFIRE I flew a SPITFIRE my pilot was ex Red Arrows and to top it all off I got to watch my wife do the same it doesn’t get any better than that.

Having a passion allows you to live more intensely. I have been passionate about aviation for as long as I can remember and I have just fulfilled a childhood dream that I thought impossible at the time; fly a Spitfire.
Since then, a dozen "Spitfires" have been converted into "two seats" and this dream, still alive for so many years, has become possible, and I have made it a reality!
It was September 7th at Headcorn in Kent and my pilot was "Parky", formerly of the RAF and the "Battle of Britain Memorial Flight" in which he flew Hurricanes and Spitfires. Now Chief Pilot at Aero Legends, he has more than a thousand hours of flight time on Spitfire.
Warm welcome of a truly professional team, all the staff made the experience perfect from meeting point, ground crew and the exceptional pilot "Parky" without forgetting “Elisabeth” obviously

My husband's Spitfire flight with Aero Legends lived up to all our hopes and expectations and could not have been better.
The staff at Headcorn were helpful, friendly and professional from the moment our party of family and friends arrived at the dispersal hut and the flight itself was sensational; made all the better by the pilot's willingness to tweak the route to take the plane over Leigh where we live.

Poor customer experience
We booked a flight experience as a birthday surprise for a family member. Aero legends cancelled the flight 3 days before the flight date due to a problem with the plane which we understood - these things happen. What was really galling was that they were not able to offer anything else on the date, and could only offer one alternative date not in the warm summer period and a date we couldn’t make anyway. Aero legends suggested they hold on to our large amount of money and we do the flight experience next year but they couldn’t provide any dates for this. I asked for them to return the money and they took a large fee out of this as they said I’d cancelled. I didn’t feel I’d cancelled- they couldn’t provide the flight due to a problem with the air worthiness of their aircraft. I also didn’t feel like a valued customer when I called or emailed so I cannot recommend this company based on my experience. You’ll need to look carefully at the very very small print which isn’t on the page when you make the booking that says they can cancel in many many scenarios and you end up getting penalised.

Above and beyond.....
After visiting Biggin Hill, with my dad, I've dreamt about flying in a Spitfire. My Spitfire flight with Aero Legends went above and beyond my expectations! Extremely friendly people, excellent facilities for family & friends, first class equipment, thorough safety briefings/information, together with a skilful and engaging pilot, made for a truly professional and wonderful experience. In particular, I'll never forget flying over the White Cliffs of Dover, the mid air acrobatics (victory rolls and loop) and Parky's hands in the air as I took over the flying - amazing! An absolutely fabulous adventure - I would do it all again in a heartbeat. My family had a brilliant day and I know my dad would certainly have loved it. Highly recommended.

Wonderful experience.
A wonderful experience. Aero Legends were very professional,friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Parky was a great pilot and he made it special by doing a Victory rollout over the Fighter memorial just as they were conducting a service for Battle of Britain day. A very special day and will live long in my memory.
