Amazing Team, Food and Service
We’ve just enjoyed a Birthday celebration here with a large group of our family and friends. The food was lovely, great menu, choices and beautifully presented. The staff are exceptional and very attentive. I would highly recommend visiting and I am really thankful for all their help making it a great evening. One of the best pubs in Hampshire.
I can't praise this pub highly enough. There were twelve of us for lunch, including five children whose ages ranged from 9 years to 9 months, so we can't have been the easiest party to deal with. The food was amazing (best fish pie I've had in years) and the service brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble, including adjusting some dishes to suit dietary requirements. All in all, it made our wedding anniversary celebration a memorable experience, and I would not hesitate to visit again.

An Excellent Inn for Meals
Lovely inn close to the River Test. Inside, a spacious village inn awaits offering a good bar, good food & service. We dropped in to break a drive & ordered drinks plus steak pie with fries & veg. All excellent with the delicious pie hitting the spot. Will definitely return.

Absolutely lovely place to visit its open every day and all day. Staff from the time you enter that serve you at your table and of course the chef who served up freshly cooked and well served meals are very polite and will serve you a meal to your liking saves waisting certain things that one does not like which is served with the meal.Me and my husband been a few times and have had a different meal each time must say every one was served with perfection and very delicious. Also love the idea of the information and directions of a lovely walk from pub to do then returning to the pub before going home. All staff will serve you with a smile nothing is too much trouble for them well worth a visit.

Best fish pie ever!!
Came here for lunch after reading the fab reviews. 4 of us opted not to go for the set menu and we were not disappointed. Fish pie not only looked amazing but tasted divine. The same for the falafel burger, steak burger and fish and chips. Reasonable prices and decent portions. Mocktails were also really tasty. Would have given 5 stars only the temperature in the pub was on the cold side ~ a thing we're finding more and more now given the high cost of energy.

Lovely meal
Good menu, helpful staff. We all ate from the specials menu, two courses. It was very good, decent portions, cooked well and delicious. We were with friends we hadn't seen for a while and there was no pressure on us to move on as we sat for a long time after finishing the meal just chatting.

Whitebait? Never Again. But That Pie? Perfection.
Tried whitebait for the first (and last) time—turns out, absolutely not for me. Thought I liked it before, but I was very, very wrong. That’s on me, though! If you’re a whitebait fan, you’ll be just fine. Luckily, my main saved the day—the steak and ale pie was an absolute 10/10. The mash had a bit of an odd flavor, but overall, a solid 4/5 meal.

Sunday Lunch
Visited this pub on a Sunday in February for lunch with family. Warning, whilst they have a big car park, it gets very busy as it’s used by people walking locally (presumably lunch when they get back to car 🤔) We’d booked & would recommend booking as is busy. Staff very busy, but were friendly & welcoming. Food was okay. Roast dinners probably better than this fish option one of our table had, which I was told was rather bland. All in all an okay visit.

Excellent food and staff
We had a birthday meal here for 14 people. Service was excellent very friendly. The food was excellent, not 1 mistake, everything was on time and hot and EVERYTHING was delicious. They were very helpful with the surprise birthday cake. Nice comprehensive menu with something for everyone, and very reasonably priced. I will definitely be visiting again.

Lunchtime treat
Popped in for lunch and chose from the set menu offer. Food was of high quality, and the service was swift. Had pork schnitzel with peppercorn sauce, this came with grenadier potatoes and crisped carrots. Sat well on the stomach Pudding was a lemon tart with blackcurrant sorbet. Slid down well with a good balance of flavours.
