I had my hair transplant at Idealofmed in Istanbul after researching several clinics and getting recommendations from friends in Denmark. I’m now around 8 months post-op, and here’s my excellent experience and results so far.
I chose the clinic because of its reputation, all-inclusive setup, and experience with international patients. Everything was well organized from start to finish, including hotel, transfers, consultations, and the surgery itself.
The procedure was done by Dr. Akkaya, who is ISHRS-registered, which was a big factor in my decision. That level of qualification gave me extra confidence when choosing the clinic.
The clinic is also certified by the Ministry of Health, and the doctors are certified by the Ministry of Health as well. The facilities are excellent — modern, extremely clean, and very well maintained, easily meeting high international standards.
The staff and doctors were fantastic throughout the entire process. The level of hygiene, professionalism, and organization honestly felt better than what I’ve experienced in Scandinavia.
Since the transplant, I’ve also returned twice over the last months for PRP and stem cell treatments, which were easy to arrange and professionally handled each time.
I also had a few well-known friends from Denmark and Sweden who had previously been treated at the clinic, which further influenced my decision to choose them.
Recovery process
The healing followed a very typical and well-explained timeline:
* Days 1-10: Mild swelling and redness, gradually settling as the scalp healed
* Months 1-2: Temporary shedding phase (“shock loss”), which was expected and clearly explained beforehand
* Months 3-8: Gradual and steady regrowth, with increasing density and noticeable improvement in coverage and natural appearance
At the 8-month mark, the results already look very good. The hairline looks natural, density has improved a lot, and everything blends well with my existing hair. It’s still maturing, but I’m already very satisfied with the progress.
I would definitely recommend Idealofmed to any Westerner who has high expectations for hygiene, facilities, and medical standards.
