I worked with Melissa Vare. She is an extremely passive lawyer. Honestly, if you’re a typical person with W-2 income, she’ll probably save you some money by avoiding battles you won’t win. If your spouse is trying to take your children from you, I am confident that she’ll do a good job blocking those efforts. However, if anything about your circumstances deviates from a standard basic divorce, she cannot apply her knowledge of the law in a fluid way. I absolutely hated how she had me talk way too much during our hearing. I have no idea what I am doing and I paid her to represent me. We showed up under-prepared ready to have a chill conversation with the judge and other party. If the situation was chill, we would have settled out of court. Opposing counsel has all kinds of things that they can quote me on because I was encouraged by Melissa to go on and on. She also told me to submit the wrong form for proof of income for my W-2 job. Opposing counsel made quick work of that. Melissa loss me around $7000 right there. No offer of compensation from Melissa for this rookie mistake. We were negotiating with opposing counsel and it was going well and then she suddenly gave me notice to withdraw when we were about to make an agreement with opposing counsel. It was very strange. Email threads got crossed. I responded negatively to opposing counsel’s earlier position, but before I saw opposing counsel’s current, more reasonable position, Melissa sent the notice to withdraw, getting email threads mixed up, thinking I was presenting strong objections to opposing counsel’s largely reasonable position. It was like she was clearly looking for an excuse to withdraw, presumably because the case was more contentious and complicated than she is accustomed to dealing with, and mixing up email threads was her excuse for withdrawing. But she did so in the middle of a positive negotiation. She did offer to stay on the case for 10 days, but I don’t think it’s reasonable to continue to work with an attorney acting in bad faith. She shouldn’t have taken the case because it was over her head. I would like an attorney who actually teaches me. When you have a complicated case, a business or whatever, the attorney and client need to work collaboratively to find a positive and fair solutions to problems, because I understand mine and my wife’s business more than my attorney does, and my attorney should understand how the law applies to the situation. When I say, I think XYZ position is reasonable, I would like my attorney to teach me why my feelings would or wouldn’t match up with the law. Melissa wants to get to the finish line as expediently as possible, which works for many people, but doesn’t work well for an entrepreneur.

I am very pleased with Melissa and her efforts on my case. I was completely clueless, not knowing anything about divorce and family law in the state but Melissa made me comfortable and aware from the very first appointment. Her attention to details, communication skills and knowledge in family law is remarkable. She took care of the entire process very well and made sure I am financially capable to take care of myself and my children. I was constantly worried but Melissa understood me and my situation very well. Divorced in 6 months and I am very pleased how Melissa handled this case. I honestly would have been no where without her! I would highly recommend Melissa!!

Contracted services from Zivitz Law Group in May 2024. Had to repeat explanations multiple times to get drafts corrected, the attorney did not seem put much effort into trying to understand my individual case, maybe I'm not rich enough. Attorney didn't forward correspondence regarding negotiations for almost 3 weeks, losing valuable time and causing the opposing counsel to file more motions in the court. Barely acknowledged any fault or impact this brought to my case and was dismissive and condescending when I voiced my disappointment. In final attempt to recover communication with the opposing counsel, my attorney was not familiar enough with my case and even made incorrect statements. I was forced to end services even though my case appears in court in less than a week. Would rather tell the judge I'm unprepared than pay someone else to be. Would not recommend this law office to anyone.

I have been extremely pleased with my experience with Melissa. She was absolutely fantastic to work with. I gave her all of the information from my case, this case had been messed up because of my prior counsel. She took everything with stride made sure she had everything like the back of her hand and took off with it. I was prompt with getting her paperwork back to her and she would do the same in a timely fashion to ensure we could have this case resolved. She was always available for any questions, comments or concerns. She knows family law very well. She looked through prior documents that I had from the same case and showed me the errors that were made and miscommunications that were established due to my daughters dads lack there of communication skills on this said signed court document. Melissa is extremely personable, is extremely thorough with her work and is all around an A+ counsel. She has been nothing but great since day one. Without her, I wouldn’t have been able to get my case sorted. Zivitz Law Group is certainly one that I recommend. And I know in the future, should I have more issues, I will be returning to Melissa for guidance on said family issues. Zivitz Law Group was absolutely phenomenal to work with and exceeded all my expectations. Prior to contacting them, I was working with a very large firm that was extremely stressful and made me feel like I was just a monthly paycheck. I was at my breaking point with the assigned lawyer who wasn’t answering or returning phone calls, following legal procedure, arguing with the judge, providing incorrect information regarding finances to the courts, and essentially wanted me to settle for significantly less than what was legal precedent for the estate (50%). I decided to take a huge risk and scrounged all the spare money I could and hire a new lawyer. Immediately after contacting Zivitz Law group, I was scheduled a consultation with attorney Melissa Vare. I ended that phone call with the first sense of hope I have had in over 5 years regarding my case. She took the time to not just listen, but actively retain the information and guide me through the process. She immediately took control of my case, advocated for me, and started over from scratch. She was extremely knowledgeable of Indiana law and legal precedence that may affect your case and was a firm advocate when dealing with the opposing party’s attorney. Both Ms Vare and her paralegal, Amanda, were available any time I needed them and kept me in the loop with everything regarding my case. The entire team was professional yet friendly, caring yet fair, and I am so happy that I made that phone call. In the end, we were able to settle right before final hearing for a fair amount for all involved parties. While I plan to never need to use their services again, I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again. I would recommend anyone who is reading this to stop searching for a family law office and give Zivitz Law Group a call.

I don't even know where to begin. If were anything like me, felt like nobody was truly fighting for you and the well-being of you children. Look no further. Melissa Vare is you girl! When I got a divorce in 2020 i was young and naive, i just wanted out of my marriage. I had no idea what I was doing. Then in 2021 when we went back to court for other reasons I hired another attorney, whom i only talked to once the entire time. Fast forward to December of 2022 I was in despite need of a GOOD attorney. Someone willing to listen to me, someone who was ready to fight because I was tired of being walked all over. In the court system and with the father of my children. I had been trying to get in contact with several attorneys for almost 3 weeks, they either wouldn't call me back or insisted an insane amount of money for just a consult. I was a single mom who wasn't getting child support. I didn't have the extra money to just throw at attorneys for consults if I didn't like them. Then I called the Zivitz Law Group in tears one day. They set me up me with Melissa Vare. She called me within an hour. She started going over my case that night. It was a huge weight off my shoulders. Commnication was a must for me and she went above and beyond that expectation. I never had to worry if she was only in it for the money like most attorney. Anelia was a Rockstar from start to finish. With the aid of her team from the office, she was able to keep me updated on my case and advise me on my next steps to take.
