Zen were very helpful in assessing our needs, shout out to Mike for his advice at those early stages of the install. Competitively priced. Very professional installation team on the day and responsive company to work with. Delighted we have taken the plunge to go solar. Updating this review in 2026 - we have had issues with inverter - despite numerous discussions with Zen we are still waiting for a replacement inverter, issue has been 12 months now - they say new inverter is coming and acknowledge what they had installed was less than ideal - calculated we gave have lost hundreds of dollars in lost energy savings in last 12 months. Feels like we have invested thousands of dollars into zero return solar wise.

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding the lack of support for my 72-panel solar system, which utilizes dual Redback inverters sourced through Zen Energy and Rise Energy. An inverter fault, identified as a failed proprietary fuse, was reported on March 14, 2026. Despite assurances that a replacement would be dispatched immediately following a stocktake delay, the part has not been received nearly one month later. Additionally, my correspondence to the CEOs of Zen Energy and Redback Australia has received zero response, not even the courtesy of an acknowledgment! This matter is now critical. With an approaching cyclone, I am currently without a functioning battery backup, which negates a significant element of my $200k investment in this system.

Zen was good, with Stefan on selling their product to us for our home. Unfortunately, that was about it.....when they installed, we were informed that there was only 1 spot for the system to go and that was inside on the wall in the lounge, as we had no choice we had to agree which has left an eyesore in the lounge....we have since been informed that it could of been put elsewhere, but that would of involved extra effort on their part. Since we have had the system, it has kept having a fault which we have had a repair person out several times over the last 2 years, but it still continues to have the same fault. I have constantly had to email and chase up to get anyone to respond to me and have now come to the end of our patience. All we want is the system to work and report as it is supposed to. We were needing another solar system for another house, and there was no way we would use Zen due to their lack of interest once money is paid and their inability to even respond to customer issues. Our other system is also a Goodwe and it is working brilliantly, as this one should be. I wrote to them asking for a reply and have had nothing since 30th Jan so even told them i would be putting a google review on if they had not got back to me today, this was after emails each day to try and get this problem solved. Since they still have not had the decency to reply, it has left me no choice but to write this review. Customer service and back up goes a long way, which this company does not have a clue on.

We have uncovered your emails as they went to a non-managed email address and we have now fixed that system anomaly. We've heard back from the manufacturer, Goodwe, and they are arranging a replacement inverter system for your property. As soon as it arrives with the installer we will be back in touch. I approached Zen Energy about a new solar system for a domestic property in Auckland. Ruby, the first customer liaison person I dealt with, was helpful and stayed in touch to make sure that I supplied all the documents they require. Once I had supplied all the requested documents I was contacted by another person, G, who I talked with at length on the phone. We discussed many aspects of the system that might be suitable for my requirements. She was very keen for me to state how much money I wanted to spend when I was more interested in what various systems cost. We agreed that she would come back to me with quotes for a medium and a larger system. However when I said that I wanted to review those quotes myself before committing to a time for a further meeting - this one to be online and include my partner - she became rather unhelpful and rude. She said that the "quotes" would only be ballparks and they cannot be specific quotes without conducting the online meeting. I found this very strange as they had already committed in an email that if I provided the documents they require they could create the "optimal solution" She then suggested that I might not be a suitable client! I do not recommend this company - dealing with them was a waste of time.

We had a little power meltdown at our place- our grid interactive system wasn’t being supplied by the grid but there was no news of this from vector. I called Steve who came out in person almost immediately to look at my system (5 years old and hadn’t missed a beat til then by the way) and diagnosed the mains outage and got us up and running again quickly. Super exceptional customer service! We’re very grateful, thanks heaps 🙏

After some issues were identified and corrected, our system is now performing as it should, and we are now very happy. We chose ZEN Energy as it enabled us to have solar at an affordable price compared to other systems on the market. The sales rep gave us a contract that allowed staged installation and payment while we went through a new build process. This was so helpful to us as we were on a very tight budget. So for those wanting solar at an affordable price we would recommend ZEN Energy.

Zen put my solar in very promptly and followed up over the following weeks, however my power provider, the power board and their installers mucked me about endlessly so after 4 months of waiting I decided to ring Zen and see if they could help me out- well they say not all heroes wear capes but I’ll bet Steve the Operations Manager at ZEN does, he had all the contractors and power companies sorted in an hour and as of 11.50am 26.9.25 he rang to say he could see it importing correctly- he’s a bloody legend and I’ll be raising a glass to him tonight! 10/10 for customer service and I hope his employer sees this and he gets a big fat payrise, he sure deserves it.
