Yellow Door Care continues to provide government-funded services to my father, who has a long and documented history of sexual abuse and domestic violence. My mother the victim, has now been displaced from her home for over four months.
This is not a new story. In Australia, there is a long pattern of perpetrators being supported while victims are ignored. What I didn’t expect was to see it happen here. I didn’t expect a provider with a 5-star rating to participate in it.
Despite being informed of the separation, and the full history of harm, Yellow Door Care has made no meaningful attempt to respond in a trauma-informed way.
This review is not about seeking a reply. If you read this, you’ll understand why.
This: a 5-star rating suggests you are good at what you do. But you are not. You are not good at trauma-informed care. Your leadership does not demonstrate a moral compass. Because even within the limits of policy and red tape, people with integrity still find ways to protect those at risk.
You had that choice. And you didn’t take it
We've been using Yellow Door Care for 4x months to assist us with caring for our father with younger onset dementia. They have been fantastic to deal with and our father is thoroughly enjoying the time spent with his carers. Highly recommended!

Although we're fairly new to Yellow Door Care we couldn't be happier with our experience to date. Everyone has been extremely helpful and friendly and you feel that they really care about providing the right support for Mum and doing anything they can to help her. Everyone I've spoken to on the phone has been extremely patient with all my queries and they respond in a timely manner to emails as well. Yellow Door Admin are always professional and understanding.
I have been a client for 5 years. In those early days I was skin and bones, around 30 kilos under-weight. I could hardly talk. I could walk, but with a frame, a few slow steps. I needed a lot of care, and I received it. Whenever I have needed another set of hands, my carers are always right there doing so much, including physio exercises; assisting me with walking and becoming the best version of myself.
They prepare all meals: Indian, Japanese and Greek delicious dishes. I have regained the weight I had lost, plus some!
I enjoy talking to my carers, they are wonderful company and clearly enjoy their work. So much so, that this one comment, made my year:
"It's not like going to work, it's like visiting a friend."

Yellow door has reliably provided carers daily for two years for an 8-hour shift daily for my elderly aunt in residential aged care. Shortages of staff had sometimes meant her physical care was patchy and there was little time for one to one interactions. Yellow Door carers are not only very competent and conscientious with the physical care of my aunt, but also are impeccably kind and patient. They work closely with the residential institution’s care and nursing staff. They understand the importance of providing companionship to their clients and facilitate engagement with activities which interest them. For example in my aunt’s case this has been ensuring that she gets access to the garden regularly, engaging her in conversation, ensuring that music which she enjoys is played. Yellow Door employs certified carers and provides additional training on managing dementia clients. Having Yellow Door carers has greatly enhanced my centenarian aunt’s mood, general wellbeing and quality of life.
