Beside the weather which turned a bit rainy by the end of our stay, we really enjoyed our mini holiday at Wytch Wood. I was curious to see an ECO CAMPSITE. It worked just as well as any other and had the obvious advantage leaving a much smaller ecological footprint. I especially liked that the plots were secluded and spacious. We enjoyed the privacy whilst there was a nice, friendly atmosphere. The big campfire on Saturday was a perfect opportunity to socialise - if you wanted to. Elise was there to help and to answer any questions. We never had such friendly host before. I am sure that we will be back with the new tent - we just realised during this last trip, that our old tent was not waterproof anymore. Thank you.

This place is really amazing. Beautiful quiet campsite with individual character pitches. I took my boys and they loved it. Booked again for another visit for 2024 and will probably become a traditional for us to visit.

My partner and i stayed here back in May. Its a really nice campsite with a lovely forest setting. The amenities are all good if youre used to camping - the private compost toilet was a nice addition to the pitches. Some firewood is also provided however we found this to be quite wet. Only knocking a star off because we felt our pitch wasn’t as secluded as we expected based on the photos and site map on the website. We were on pitch 1, and this is actually extremely close to pitch 2. I’d say we were even closer to the group on pitch 2 than we’d be at a lot of other cheaper campsites. Unfortunately for us, pitch 2 was a group of multiple families with young kids, who woke us up at 5am both mornings as they were running around our tent screaming. We could even hear it with earplugs in. Obviously this wasn’t the site owners fault, but we probably wouldn’t have picked that pitch if it was more accurately represented how close together the 2 pitches are. I would stay here again, but I’d definitely go for pitch 3 as this seems to be the most secluded if you’re a couple.

We thoroughly had a fantastic time staying at Wytch Wood. It was obvious from the get go that a lot of thought, love and effort has gone into creating this beautiful campsite, with a conscientious approach to nature. We love how each pitch has their own complementary fire pit, handmade table and chairs and even a trug full of logs free of charge as you arrive - something you rarely get on other campsites! We stayed at Toby's Double pitch which is right next to the stream on the edge of the woodland, but still gets plenty of sunshine throughout the day. Falling asleep next to the sound of running water was absolute bliss... as was seeing an eel in the stream and waking up to owls hooting, horses neighing away in the distance and serene birdsong. All of the pitches are generously spaced out so you get plenty of privacy without feeling like you're too penned in. We even had our own compost loo which was super convenient and clean and tidy. The showers were simple yet a great set up with complimentary Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner - again, an offering you rarely get on other campsites. They have thought of everything essential you need here - at the entrance to the site there are plug sockets to charge devices and a makeshift shop selling local beers/ciders/snacks and most necessities you might have forgotten to pack - all with an honesty box to contribute to. The homemade Pizzas we had on Saturday were epic! We were also really grateful to be given some homemade apple and elderberry crumble made by one of the ladies running it - it was really thoughtful and kind of her. They were friendly, relaxed and always easy to find if we needed anything. Walking around you can see all the new trees they have planted including figs and apple trees which we thought was very forward thinking. There was a lovely well looked after herb bed too. If you are looking for all this, at excellent value for money and in an incredible setting nearby to lots of lovely villages and beaches, then you really must go here. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we hope to come back in the future. Phoebe and Mel x

A really nice place with a lot of activities and communal spaces with different vibes to chill or play board games or read a book and relax. Family friendly with lots of space for kids to play. Fantastic pizza and they also have coffee, croissants and more, in the morning. The owner was lovely and very helpful.

This is the perfect campsite- we stayed for 4 nights and would have stayed longer if we could! The pitches are really spaced out, so it feels peaceful and private. Great countryside views. We appreciated the private composting loo for each pitch. The honesty shop served us very well, we loved having a campfire every night with toasted marshmallows :) the local area is beautiful too. The campsite owner is super helpful and welcoming. We also enjoyed chatting to Jonny who was the cleaner while we were there, very nice guy. We would love to come back one day and will be recommending to family/friends.

Family of 5 (3 children aged 9,7,4) and our first time camping/glamping. Wytch wood was a fabulous site with everything we could have possibly needed and all very comfortable. We rented a bell tent and it was spacious, set up brilliantly and the beds were comfy and cozy. We had the best time and Elise was an incredible host. Thank you for a magical time!

Only spent one night here, but already planning to come back next year for longer! Stayed on pitch 7 (Toby's Double), and was able to string my hammock tent up between two sturdy trees. I think this is one of the smaller pitches here, but even so it's fully equipped with table and benches, firepit and your own composting loo. The rest of the site is glorious as well, there's showers up the top, and a great little communal area with charging, a community fridge/freezer, and an honesty shop with local products (try the gelato and the kombucha). In the morning there's fresh coffee available from Elise, and two nights a week they fire up the pizza oven(!). The best bit though? There's a babbling brook that runs through the bottom of the site. Despite all the facilities, the low number of pitches and separation between them allows this to feel nearly like wild camping in terms of closeness to nature. Heavily recommend Wytch Wood!

Super miejsce dla osób ceniących sobie ciszę i spokój, sklepik na miejscu z najpotrzebniejszymi artykulami, lodówka, można kupić kawę i ciastko. Gry planszowe. Cena do jakości uczciwa. Właścicielka bardzo miła i uprzejma.

We had such a nice time camping last weekend at Wytch Wood and already can’t wait to go back. This place has really got it right and makes camping easy (even with 3 kids)! The location is stunning and each tent has its own compost toilet, picnic table and fire pit. Pitches feel secluded but there is lots of communal space for kids to play as well as a stream to paddle in. The pizza on Saturday was delicious and the bar is well stocked with local cider and beer, wine and fizz! Coffee and pastries available in the mornings. Our kids (4 and 6) loved the bushcraft skills session and the communal area full of garden games and board games which kept us dry when it rained. The campsite has a green ethos with eco friendly products and excellent facilities! Showers were hot and the little honesty shop was well stocked for camping needs. Everything was so well thought out! We loved it there and will certainly be rebooking for next year!

We had only booked 2 nights but hadn't even got out of the truck when we knew we had to stay long. It's a beautiful place set in a fantastic part of Somerset and run exceptionally well. Both ladies were very helpful even making a run for us to get more Perry's cider. We felt like we didn't want to leave and could have stayed there all week. The views the people and just being able to unplug from life was amazing. So much so was able to craft a rough walking stick for the owner on the last day. Hope she liked it as just left by her truck. Honesty boxes food fridges and were always stocked and such a lovely idea thanks so much for having us it was a truly magical place. A really lovely campsite. Elise and her small team seemed to work tirelessly to ensure everything on the site ran smoothly despite the heavy weather. Beautiful setting, great facilities and freindly campers. Perfect!

Really great glamping experience at Wytch Wood! Beautiful rural campsite, really well looked after. The bell tent was lovely, super comfy bed and cosy indoor space - we also had our own fire pit, table and chairs and a really handy cooking area with gas stove and sink. Cooking equipment and all plates/cutlery included, which was very useful! Compost toilets were always clean, you have one per pitch so it's just for your use whilst you're there; the showers were warm and had body wash, shampoo etc included. Honesty shop was handy, we bought logs for the fire and other bits and bobs whilst we were there - you can add them to your tab and pay at the end of the week or pay in cash in the honesty box. Elise, the lady who runs the campsite, was really friendly; she's also on hand in the mornings making fresh coffees and pastries, which you can add to your tab. Would also recommend the pizzas if you're there on a Wednesday/Saturday! Lots of things to do in the area if you're happy to drive, Lyme Regis; Dorset Nectar & Perry's Cider Mill both have lovely outdoors area to drink cider in the sun; Palmer's Brewery do good tours; walk up to Golden Cap in Seatown; Fleet Air Arm Museum is a good day out; would also recommend eating at Winyard's Gap, lovely pub! Overall would really recommend.

What an incredible place! I came recommended by a friend and it beat all our expectations. The lady running the campsite is so friendly and welcoming. She helped us with anything we needed. We paid for a big glass roof tent which was amazing. Lots of space for our family including our toddler. The setting is so beautiful and each area is very private. We loved having warm showers with lovely products close to our tent and our own private toilet. The facilities throughout the campsite were really high standard and we loved the focus on green camping. We were really impressed with the croissants and coffees at the weekend and the amazing pizza too! We will definitely be back, it was the perfect first camping experience as a young family. Can’t recommend this place enough!

I thoroughly enjoyed a 2 night stay here. They have a limited number of unique pitches each with it's own private outhouse. From woodland to more open and even stream running by. Great warm shower block. Honesty shop is good. Felt really relaxed

A pretty unique campsite for the UK which reminded us both of woodland camping in the US. It is pretty remote, though, which may be what you are after but there are a few things to be aware of: * Getting to the campsite is pretty tricky. I only remember seeing a couple of small signs, so you might want to put GPS coordinates into your phone beforehand. Access is primarily down single-track lanes with poor visibility and limited passing points, and the final stretch is along a very rocky, uneven track. I wouldn't recommend coming in a low-clearance vehicle. * Upon arrival, we couldn't get in contact with the owner (she wasn't on site and mobile phone reception was awful) so had to wait a while for her to return. When she did return, she told us that the pitch that we has specifically booked (#9 Cascade) was not vacated, and gave us the option of evicting the overstayers or choosing another pitch. Not know how long they would take to either return or pack up, we switched pitches to #8 which was pretty good, if not our first choice. * There is an honesty shop/bar onsite with a very limited selection of stuff to buy. We were given a few complimentary logs on arrival, but these were pretty damp and green so if you plan to use the firepit, you are best bringing your own wood like we did. * Noise curfew is (or was) strictly enforced and the on-site rules versus the ones on the website are a little inconsistent. Listening to fairly quiet music at 6.15pm while I cooked on the fire, (we assume) our neighbours complained and I was told - perfectly pleasantly by the owner - to turn my music down. I actually turned it off as I wouldn't be able to hear it any quieter. I am all too aware of how noise from neighbours can be annoying, so was frankly amazed that this had happened to me at this time of day. Combined with the poor weather forecast, I was prepared to pack up the next morning and leave two days early, but the wife convinced me to stay. * Lyme Regis is a nice seaside town, even despite the weather. It is a 30-minute drive away, however, and there isn't much else to do in the area. The closest town of note is Crewkerne and I don't remember seeing anything there that would prompt me to visit. * The pizzas cooked on site on Wednesday evening were delicious and thoroughly recommended. The coffee bar was supposed to be open from 8.30am but wasn't for the duration of our stay * The rustic shower was perfectly adequate, with plenty of hot water and complimentary shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Likewise the sawdust toilet - which you get sole use of during your stay - was perfectly fine if you've ever been to a music festival * The pitches are nicely spaced and pretty secluded. Our fire pit and picnic bench was a welcome addition, but the weather sadly meant we couldn't use these as much as we would have liked. Likewise the communal firepit and seating areas. In summary, I'd only recommend this if you know what to expect. If you are after a beautiful countryside setting with rustic facilities and want to get away from the trappings of modern life, this could well be for you. If any of the above observations ring alarm bells, or the weather forecast is such that you will be confined to your tent/van, you might want to reconsider.

Hi Lee, sorry you didn't enjoy your stay, the weather or the area. We try and portray the site as honestly and accurately as possible in all our images, descriptions and communications in order to set guests' expectations. We try to put all relevant information for your stay on the website and will continue to work on this. I can only apologise about the issues with the pitch - this was unprecedented for us where a pitch was not vacated and new arrivals asked if they would mind a different pitch. Had we realised the strength of your feelings on the pitch, of course we would have insisted the other guests leave as soon as possible, we were more concerned about making you wait. My more junior colleague who was on-site when you arrived was not able make this decision, so again apologies that you had to wait, this is not a normal guest experience. The rule of no amplified music, even played quietly, is part of the rules from the Greener Camping Club which we are affiliated with and forms a requirement of our planning permission. We try and make this clear on the website and t's & cs. It will be added to all pitch listings, confirmation email and welcome email to make sure there is no confusion in future. It is such a quiet site that music and especially bass from portable speakers, travels perhaps more than other settings. Wytch Wood is a small eco campsite and accept that we arent for everybody. We do the best we can wit a small team and we hope that you find sites and locations better suited to your tastes and expectations in future.

We spent 4 nights at Wytch Wood and without a doubt it’s one of the most beautiful camp sites we’ve had the pleasure of spending time at. The design of the site has been creativly curated so that each pitch offers a unique array of surroundings, as well as easy access to shared amenities and each with it’s own compost loo, fire pit, table and chairs. Next to the main campsite is a path to a hillside wood with a 500m walk that has been carefully carved through it, which twists and turns and gives you a short exhibit of the wonders of the forest. The well stocked 24hr honesty shop and bar (each pitch has a clipboard for you to document what you’ve used) was a highlight, as it meant more time soaking up the site and less time driving to shops. Although we didn’t choose these - The Glamping options seemed very well considered and cost effective. We’d be very interested in trying them out next time! Elise and Lucy were Incredibly accommodating and hospitable. Their care and love of the site communicates, with work being done upgrading and maintaining all areas. The pizza oven, morning coffee and array of woods activities are just some of the details that show Wytch Wood really goes above and beyond to better the experience for campers. This campsite is a definite find, and I could not recommend it more!
