I was very unfortunately openly weeping intermittently throughout brunch (bad morning) but our server handled it perfectly and didn’t make it weirder than it already was. Shout out to that king! Also the food was very good and they played the entirety of being killed by geese which was pleasant. Would come again thank you for the extra napkins (high quality, great for dabbing at tears) xox and also my Bloody Mary was excellent
Just a personal reminder of the near cold chicken, and the not so cohesive menu this season. Plates have gotten smaller, prices have gotten higher really not as good as it once was for the money (250 with 20% tip and bought a bottle) Remember to go to diner instead. Everyone is nice tho
Winona’s has decent food, with the cauliflower and cavatelli dishes standing out. The other dishes were okay but not exceptional, and one of our meals wasn’t cooked as expected. The service was unremarkable and the staff handled a mix-up in a way that felt a bit awkward. Overall, it was an average experience and not one that left a strong impression.
I went to Winona’s on May 20, 2023, during a very difficult time in my life, hoping for a good meal and relaxation. Instead, I was met with one of the rudest servers I’d ever encountered. When I asked which pasta dish she recommended, she snapped that there was only one pasta on the menu, then told me she’d “give me time to read” and walked away. Her tone was condescending, dismissive, and completely unnecessary.
I wrote to management afterward, and while they apologized and said theyd speak to the server, they tried to downplay it saying they "hope I can understand that sometimes people have off days and they hope it doesn't color my view of the establishment." Having an off day isn't an excuse for speaking to a paying customer with contempt. I left the establishment feeling worse than when I arrived, and even years later this experience, and the way I was treated, still makes me upset.
Edit: After posting my review, management responded doubling down on the dismissiveness and condescension, telling me that she "hopes I find healing." The bad service comes from the top down, and it makes sense why there are a host of reviews with similar complaints about the service at this establishment.
